After spending countless hours analyzing the maps, I think I have figured it out... The new team working on the show doesn't understand world building.
I believe I've figured it out as well I remember watching your video on where the locations of g5 were. I predict that the locations you talked about were mostly right. Maritime bay is horseshoe bay, we see a horseshoe on sunny map, however I would have to disagree on the locations for bridlewood, and Zephyr heights. First off" Bridlewood isn't that close to the water, it's acually more north-west from Maritime bay appearing to be where hollow shades once was, Second Zephyr heights location is acually north of maritime bay, appearing to be on top of Starlight moutains, and over time it evolved, and changed to orange. I also wonder if the pegasi stole Canterlot top peek, and placed it in the center of Starlight moutains, maybe that's where they build the royal castle.
This can work for the series because maybe they can discover new places around Equestria and maybe they can update the map because maybe somebody or some pony wanted unicorn Pegasus and Earth ponies to be together in harmony but maybe that was years ago and the map has changed maybe they will try to find out the secrets with glass windows because in the middle there's one missing Maybe an alicorn losing its wings I'm not sure but I guess this is just a theory thank you for reading
I think you might be onto something about the landscapes Cantersoft, i mean i'm no expert on geology but if G5 does take place several thousand years in the future then it's quite possible that Equestria's landscapes probably changed over time.
This is some high quality theoretical thinking, i love it and i see a lot of resemblance also with how the area's looked in the movies, zephyr hights for instance was located in a dusty rocky area. It would also explain the isolation that seem to have occured. I am interested in where hasbro will take this. I recently became a brony, few weeks ago actually, and kinda fell into it with 200% being a fan, i love it and i am currently binging friendship is magic, absolutely fell in love. hope to see it keep that same spirit sort off.

3:00 that island is clearly from the side, but the other map is from the top, my guess is that g4 didn't have such good maps as g5 G4 maps giving you a basic idea of what equestria look like and g5 being closer to the real thing
oh yeah. It's the same in real world even the most current map on paper are wrong except not in real life we have GPS which are good but they can be better.
Interesting tidbit: on 00:04:04.157 mark in the movie (when Argyle says "Look! A unicorn!" to Sunny and camera shows perspective from window to inside) you can see a globe behind Argyle. It's blurry, but you can still see shape of the land.
Interesting. I think that Zephir Heights might really be Canterlot though. The reason why is the stained glass in Zip's hideout. It depicts Twilight's cutiemark(the star), which might indicate that that stained glass depicts historical events related to Twilight. Stained glasses depicting events that happened in Equestria's history were present in Canterlot's castle, which could mean that the place Zip showed Izzie and Sunny is part of the Canterlot castle ruins.
Since Argyle was a researcher, it's possible that this is one of the old map all along or maybe one that Argyle did it himself during his entire journey and the location and shape might be a little off. Besides, I believe both of the map probably were unreliable especially the map used by Sunny. I mean there's no magic and while smartphone exist, so far there's no technology that allowed them to used a proper map especially for Argyle when doing his research. Even the level of technology of this world is still unclear. Hot air ballon and zeppelin might be reserved for important event or important pony and we didn't know if satelite even exist, if it's exist it might be used only for communication.
I actually think this theory makes sense, although im pretty sure imalou confirmed that the tree they walked past on the flower field is the tree of harmony :/

I'd like to think they are in the South, even if there'd be something that contradicts it... (by this I mean just South or Southeast or Southwest, mostly just anywhere far from Ponyville and Canterlot.. and likely not the north since it's not freezing)
I think generation four had pretty consistent lore. But it had a very strong start with a very independent writing team, and Hasbro probably didn't use the same people for G5, so who knows. :3

I didn't see any evidence of super advanced technology like space flight in the movie. The earth ponies were concerned about the pegasi being able to fly anyway, so there's a decent chance they don't have satellites whatsoever. The cell phones and other network devices probably receive data through radio towers and fiber optic cables.

In reality, it originated from a post on /mlp/ board (posted 5 hours earlier).
I don't know if you're still active, but I somehow seem to have missed this video when it first came out. I've been wondering much the same thing, especially after the map of the Isle of Scaly was revealed in Make Your Mark. If the Isle of Scaly is the same land we see in G4 as the Dragon Lands (or Dragons Lair) then New Equestria might, indeed, be located in the Mysterious South. One bit of contradictory evidence is found in the G5 MLP comic, where the ruins of Canterlot are found not all that far from Maretime Bay (and we meet an older Discord), but that story has not been confirmed to be canonical to the animated show(s).
The apple and the Mill it’s appaloosa or applejack farm my theory that it’s apple family maybe still alive but there’s not the old applejack family maybe a new apple family a new pony

In PMs they also mentioned that they were unsure if ponyville was flooded (see that dark streak in the middle), but the correlation is uncanny. Anyway, it has to be in northern Equestria, considering they passed the treehouse of harmony.

I saw the first sentence of your comment in the notifications but it literally didn't appear in "Held for Review". :( I probably should've shared my trace earlier, I actually did that about a week ago but didn't know where to upload it to haha. I don't really see the flooding you're mentioning though-- could you be a bit more specific? The new map looks about the same to me toward the south. I guess the noise toward the western side could be water, but I'm thinking it might just be random obfuscation jitter to prevent us from figuring out what happened there.
@@Cantersoft Derpibooru 2730328 - So look at the southwest of the continent - there's a huge amount of water that has dug into the continent, with a single island floating in the middle of the water 'inlet' - though looking at it more carefully, I can maybe see a blurred line correlating to the map you created. Other than that, it's hard to tell what's random paint splatter and what could be water. There are splatters over Somnambula and the rock farm, and then a vertical splatter from below appleloosa to Ponyville... Damnit Sunny, why did you have to be so messy with that damn surface? XD IDK if it's important that the inlay for the crystals is roughly where the badlands should be...

The compass rose might be pointing at an angle due to drift of the magnetic poles and/or due to a lack of accounting for magnetic declination on the map. Also, yes, I'm totally not 2 years late here.
