I never forget when I saw Hard Boiled for the first time around '95 on vhs. Jaw dropping.....You hadn't seen action scenes like that before, John Woo changed action cinema forever. The man's influence is still around today. The Killer is his Masterpiece. This is great news.
I had a similar experience. I had read about John Woo in some film magazine so I went to rent his movies. Hard Boiled and The Killer were the first two and I was blown away. I can't wait to see what they do with these films. I really hope we finally get the releases these films deserve.
such good news - hope Shout is super transparent and doesnt sneak out Blu rays then 4K of the same films a year later like some other boutique studios seem to do!
So true! I'm assuming since they have the rights from the start then maybe they will go full 4K out of the gate on the ones that can be done. I'm sure most of the titles will be Blu-ray only but hopefully the bigger ones are 4K.
I hope so too but some of them could be pricey. Not sure what the license cost was but it had to have been big. I am just so happy some of these are finally getting releases. Now we wait for the details and hope for the best.
Richard! I heard this great news earlier in the week. Fingers crossed Shout doesn't mess these releases up. I'm totally looking forward to many of them! I hope your weekend goes great!
Thank you so much! I hope you have a great weekend too. And stay warm next week. I really hope they don't mess these up. I would be devastated (in a less dramatic way lol) if these didn't turn out good. Crossing all of my fingers!
I agree. The article brushed by the other films but that is also a great announcement that the Chinese Ghost Story films will be coming too. Another one that is long overdo for a proper release.
No, thats the name my dear old Pop "bestowed" upon me. The only thing i can say for my last name is that it leaves an impression. My boss jokes that it was the name that got the job. She had to get a Leibfacher on her team. There aren't too many of us, LE. 😊
Thank you Hector! There should be a few horror films in there. The article highlighted the action films but there are plenty of horror in their library.
Thanks!
Wow! Thank you so much Robert! This means a ton to me. You just made my week!

Heck yeah that's a good buy. I hope the prices are reasonable. I'd love to support this purchase. 👍😎

@RichardDiaz Looking forward to it.👍😎
Same here. I hope we don't have to wait too long before we learn more of the details. But it could be a few months. So we wait ... I hate waiting. lol

Praise the physical media gods! ❤
Yes!!!
I wonder if Criterion tried to get the rights back?
I like the John Woo stuff, but really I'm more excited about the Chinese Ghost Story movies!

Not my cup of tea unless there's some horror titles. But gigantic news for martial arts fans. Thanks for the heads up Richard!👍

@RichardDiaz I'll be on the lookout.
All I'm asking is that Shout stay far away from the disaster that was the AI upscale for the Wallace and Gromit 4K set when it comes to these films.
I agree 100%. I don't want any AI anywhere near these films.
