This video reminds me of why I'm terrified to buy books online. It's much better to buy in-person when possible, because you can pick which books to get and avoid the damaged ones. The shipping process itself is just so risky!

Thinking about getting this myself. Never read more than a few chapters of each book and I want to read the lot. This seems like a really well priced box set I can get for 30 pounds. Woah, great unboxing. I'm thinking of buying this set, but are the books a lot smaller than the 'average' book size? Or do they still fall nicely in the hands/is the size of the letters still nicely readable?
Hello Petra, I hope you are good. Thanks for appreciating my deeds. About books, they are hobbit size special edition hardcover set. You can check in video that books are approximately a little bigger than my hands. I will rate 4/5 for my reading experience. Where 5 is a normal book size. Just adjust your mobile font size to normal or one point down to normal and you will have the idea if you can read like hobbit or not. I always read during daytime. You can hold a whole book in one hand while reading and then adjust to comfortable distance so your eyes can read better.
Actually hardcovers books are good to preserve in showcase or for store in library. Always handle them with care.They last long. Paper wont turn yellow for near 5-6 years.
I use Paperbacks for rough and careless reads.
Overall If you are building library or your collection or have no problem reading mobile font on normal mode than It is must have set. Hope this will clear all your doubts. If you are looking to Buy please use link in description.

I ordered the books recently and still waiting on their delivery, I can't really deduce from your video but the books have a comfortable size?
Also, on every site I visited it specified that this box set has in total of 900 or something pages, but the paperbacks or the illustrated version have 1600+ pages, is this an error on their data or the books in total have that many pages?

Total number of pages - 1567
(Excluding Maps and Notes that are almost 42 pages)
So this edition has the total of 1600+ pages.

Have you seen the paperback edition by Harpercollins up close? I was wondering why those have a collective 1600+ pages as opposed to the 900+ pages for this edition. (According to Amazon) Since this one is compact, this naturally should have higher number of pages right?

Text per page is the same for both of the editions I think.

@@ManiYorkshire Thanks mate. So the amazon page is definitely wrong about that data. Anyway I went with the Alan Lee's Illustrated version. I got it for 3200₹ (INR) which was definitely a steal. Waiting for the delivery now.

I am very much interested in getting this version of the lotr trilogy, but not the hobbit, i wonder whether they're also sold seperately!

This edition of lotr series includes the hobbit. There are some other trilogy editions available but they aren't like this one. You can buy this set with hobbit and gift the hobbit to someone or keep it on shelf intact. You can try at pawn shops if they have separate books available but again they won't be in new condition.

my two replies to your two replies are as follows:
1- I know there are some editions which only contain the trilogy but as you said, they're not similar to this one. I like this one. I don't want to end up keeping the hobbit because I'll be getting another edition of it and I don't really need two especially since it's very similar to this one, although not identical... and I don't want to just sell or give it away because it would leave a lot of not so pretty empty space in the box lol
2- I don't intend to seperate them lool I intend to get all four, I just want a different edition of the hobbit...
After close examination, I decided I don't like the colors under the dust jackets all that much, I thought they'd be black so I guess I'll just be sticking to the black ones box set for now..

1. "leave a lot of not so pretty empty space in the box " 😂😂 believe me I myself can never let happen to me the same. the rest of the books will feel lonely and they might develop anxiety and the problem associated with this.
2.I appreciate your idea to not to separate em. "Black ones box set" hmm.... I want to know more about this set, does it contain spirits of the deceased? Let me know more about this edition.
