  • "$15K drive away" - 1990s Vs 2017? Back in 90s Australia, this pretty much got you basic transport with rear drum brakes, no air conditioning, wind-up windows and a dodgy cassette player.
So, what can you get in a new car for the same money in 2017?
The "Two Dads" check out the $14,990 "drive away" MY17 Kia Picanto.

not bad.i almost bought a festiva new on p plates in 1998 after refusing my brother 92 pulsar due to the fact it was a grandpa untrendy mobile compared to the then new crop of baby cars of the day but this test shows how far we have come since then.i am now in my forties and want the new version.the amount of features is impressive.

Different prices different cars, this is the best reliable car at such low price.
My neighbor bought a Picanto (called "EuroStar" in my country) for 13 years without any breakdown. This really changed my opinion about Korean cars. Their quality per reliability is not that far off Japanese cars.

this is good for the money.i have been looking at used fiats and corollas and mazda's in the price range and none come up close to this.sure you avoid new car depreciation but you have to take a risk.

You would cry on the roadside for your downed A4 when you see a Picanto pass by.
A used car from VWG is a piece of junk for so much trouble all around.
