omg those two extra verses make the song even more amazing, i understand her reasoning for not releasing it yet, but man I think she is doing herself a disservice if the song never sees the light of day in a full release.
it’s her decision, and it’s very clear that she doesn’t want her artistry to be overshadowed taken control of by the public. while yes everyone wants to hear it bc of how incredible it is and how incredible SHE is, she’s only human and i think that staying resilient in her conviction to become the artist who SHE wants to be is incredible powerful and even more of a testament of why she is the incredible person that she is. the good thing is tho that she has two full albums out, and as fans and supporters we should not be begging her to push her limits and do more than what she feels comfortable with :)
@@trisfairy I think that she’s cutting her nose off to spite her face, she doesn’t want to release it because when she dropped her album everybody basically bombarded her saying that they wanted her to release this, so clearly it’s a case of sour grapes in that her album’s success was marred by people hounding her regarding this specific song. Just release it, it could be her big break, and then people will gladly listen to the rest of her undoubtedly, well written music, she just seems a little too interested in retaining power and not giving people what they want just because she can, and it’s her music, which of course she CAN, but it’s very touch and go as to whether or not that just comes off as petty, idk, I think she’s great, but I’m with most of the crowd in that I would like her to release a studio version of this song.
You know what? Let's cut the bullshit. It's a damn fucking shame she won't release this song, and I don't really understand her reasoning. Most artists get real recognition and become famous because of one song that ends up becoming a hit, so this would just help her and I doubt that it would "overshaddow" her other songs - it would literally help her get recognition at least.
Thanks for making this comment. I was thinking of writing that in the description as well. It’s like how Nirvana has Smells Like Teen Spirit that helped give them more exposure. Once they had that exposure, people listened to all of their great songs, not just the one song. I think this song could be her Smells Like Teen Spirit, which honestly isn’t a bad thing as long as she is able to get her music, not just the singular song, into more people’s ears.
There seems to be some sort of deeper meaning behind her hesitation, at least it seems like it, maybe there’s some memories with it she doesn’t wanna revisit I suppose
@@Janthdanl thank you, like are people really fucking blind. She’s on one hand annoyed that this song was getting more attention than her other music and also resistant to put a catchy viral song with lyrics that probably haunt her deep down on one of her official discography’s.
without getting too deep or analytical, i think its actually really admirable that shes not releasing it. It’s almost guaranteed to blow up and give her mad exposure, but she doesn’t like it, and it sounds like she doesn’t want to release it for the sake of an increase in popularity. She’s fostering a fan base that is genuinely interested in the music she wants to make and I think its really humble and cool!
I mean I get it she doesn’t want to be a one hit wonder which is fair enough! She’s probably prefer to slowly grow her career then eventually release it rather than always be known as the girl who sang ‘you ruined the 1975’ - but still, if it does one day get released I will be very very happy xxx
You’re far too self critical Lizzie. You are amazing! I love your voice & you have more talent in your little finger than 99% of the music industry combined. Keep up your amazing work. You’re an inspiration to us all.
I get her point of this song not wanting to overshadow her music that she personally thinks is better, but like, every musician has a banger that is clearly a favorite by everyone. Like Brendon Uri HATES I Write Sins Not Tragedies but he still performs it (or at least did for a long long time while hating it)
Here’s the thing, it’s already overshadowing her other music even more so because she won’t release it. People wouldn’t be constantly asking if she just released it. Obviously it’s not for anyone to decide but her, but frankly if you wanna be an artist and share your music with the world you shouldn’t really be upset when they really like one of your songs.
YES!!!! To not putting it on the album. I totally support you. It took me a while to calm down for stuff like you and Billie. The ante for the gold is to not get swept away with by your insecurities before the actual unveiling. Soft and slow, but still it is an apocalypse. (Spoiler: I would’ve supported you either way.) thank you
Celine Dion didn't really care for “My Heart Will Go On” when she was offered the song (It is still her highest selling single to date). Guitarist Johnny Greenwood hated a song Radiohead was recording so much, he tried to sabotage the song by playing a trio of loud distorted guitar hits- The song was "Creep". I respect artists for what they believe in, especially those who aren't doing things to make maximize their financial gain or fame. If Lizzy cares more about her personal integrity than her bank account, honestly, she shouldn't be judged for being a real one.....She knows what hill her career will potentially die on, and I'll root for her either way.
if anyone is still here watching this, please dont ask lizzy to release this song, she said she never will because she doesnt really like the song and she only wants to release music she's proud of. real fans of her's will respect that :)

[Intro]
Those candles that you bought me for Christmas
I can’t burn them ‘cause they smell like you
And every time I walk into a Starbucks
I see you at every table
It’s been a while since I’ve had cold brew
[Verse]
Don’t you know how hard it is
To find a decent guy in the city of 4,000
Where everybody looks like you
Don’t even get me started on the way
You saw this song online and called told
Me you didn’t but you did and I have proof that
[Chorus]
You ruined the 1975 now I listen and think about getting high
In the bedroom windows open
Mom is home but we’re still smoking
You ruined the 1975 and now I listen and cry
‘cause you sang “we share friends in Soho,”
While you told me that none of your friends know
And I hated you for that, but it’s been two years now
And I really just hate you
For making me hate my favorite band
[Bridge]
You broke my heart and went away to college
You were only fifteen minutes down the road
And I always thought you’d show up to say sorry
But as time went on I started to lose hope
[Verse]
Don’t you know how hard it is to find a decent guy
When you never gave me closure
What the hell was I to do
Don’t even get me started on the way you saw this song online
I guess it must’ve thrown you
‘cause you called and said you knew that
[Chorus]
You ruined the 1975 and now I listen and cry
‘cause you sang “we share friends in Soho,”
While you told me that none of your friends know
And I hated you for that, but it’s been two years now
And I really just hate you
For making me hate my favorite band

someone- what are the chords when she sings "how hard it is to find a decent GUY" on the guy part, there's a chord after F#m7 and before Bm7. help plz
i think the sequence is: A G#dim F#m7 F#7 and comes back to the Bm7
i think the progression is: A, C#min7, F#min7, Bm7, E7
A C#7 F#m7 F#7 Bm7 (2×) E7
