      @@crackcrack8636 you seriously think he bets and calls with rather weak hands like J10 or 1010 on the flop? Something you maybe expect from random fish online on microstakes, but these guys are pro's and plays the ME. Actually, playing the hand like Ruane did makes no sense with the hands you mention. QQ or JJ would never flat when Obst re-raises on the flop. You most likely put Obst on a combo draw in that spot so any decent player shoves to protect. Why let him get there? I know Ruane probably never has a bluff also but his play doesn't check out with anything else than 98dd. That's why the fold is so good.

    An amazing hand and one that really shows the value of good hand reading. A straight flush is obviously an incredibly hard hand to have but it's the only one that really makes sense with the action. A set of queens or jacks is probably more likely to jam flop on such a wet board and they will almost certainly check back turn when the flush hits. And if Ruane is bluffing what could he possibly have? It's hard for him to have anything but a big made hand or a flush draw when he raises and then just calls on the flop so he'd have to be turning something like QJ or a flush into a bluff. 98cc makes perfect sense in that he doesn't want to get all the money in on the flop bets the turn as he will with his flushes but is still able to jam it for value on the river after the board pairs. I don't know if I could fold it in real time and it's always possible Ruane has something unorthodox in a massive pot but it's a spot where the straight flush is by far the most logical hand.

      He bet river to see if he was beat. He had a plan.if I boat up. Block bet river and he shoved I'm beat. There is nothing he beats there that ruane is shoving. And considering the pot is huge and his shove has almost no technical fold equity Obst is a genius player that knows he is beat. He doesn't beat QQ, JJ, Q10, J10, 98clubs. He beats no value and there are no bluffs on that board. That board is 100% value and 77 is the worst of the hands on that board. And ruane doesn't shove AK clubs over the top he just calls after the board pairs. I told 77 there every time. Although if river was a 7 and he folds quads that would be an unconscious laydown

    It is much easier if you see the cards, but the fold was pretty straight-forward.
    Ruanne just called before the flop, so you can pretty much rule about QQ. He could have JJ or AK.
    Because he raised on the flop, then that means he couldn't have JT or QT. He might have done this with QT of clubs, but the T of clubs came on the turn, so that combination is also dead. He also can't have AK or TT, because he would never raise with it on the flop.
    If you deduce that your opponent is never bluffing in this spot, then it is a fold. He would never go allin with a straight(98 or AK) or a flush(AK of clubs for example) if the board pairs and your opponent is leading on the river. He either has JJ or 98 of clubs.
    That being said, I still feel it is much easier for me to analyze the hand while seeing the whole cards. I would have probably been a nonbeliver and called like monkey if I were in Obst shoes.

    Good laydown, but to be honest, definitely not as sick as a lot of people see it as. If you think about how the hand played from the start to the shove, the only hands Ruane could have are JJ and 98cc as played. QQ is of course possible too, but he would more likely 3-bet that pf. He wouldn't call Obst's rereraise on flop with anything else than QQ/JJ/nut flush draw/98cc and he'd never shove the nut flush to Obst's bet on the river with the paired board. Obst is literally beating the nut flush only and that hand only calls the river, at best.

    He has the worst full house possible. Forget the straight flush. Ruann could have a lot of hands that he's betting hard. And nut flush ain't one of them. Not that hard a lay down.

  • @SamuelJ888
    @SamuelJ888 6 років тому +1

    Its a very nice fold and I dont know in the moment if I could lay it down, but he did have the worst possible full house. I dont think Obst would have pushed all in with a flush or even broadway when the 10s paired at the end there. If he had a flush or straight, he probably would have just called Obst's river bet. Either Ruane had it or he was bluffing.

    Ruane should have bet 4.2m on the turn. That way the shove at the end would be too tempting as Obst would bet bigger and have to call off getting an amazing price.

    • @benweng0202
      @benweng0202 6 років тому +1

      Rae Rawaili I totally agree with you, Ruane should bet a little more on the turn. Some where around 4.2m to 4.8m. And leave himself a perfect river shoving amount

  • @jlaux7
    @jlaux7 5 років тому

    Great read, although Ruane's flop raise and calling Obst's 3 bet left him exposed a little. I suppose you could argue that Ruane has JJ there by not 3 betting pre facing the UTG open, but that still seems pretty unlikely. QT and JT make no sense with that flop.

  • @drdrayfromla99
    @drdrayfromla99 Рік тому

    He played that great. If he doesn’t lead out on the river, Ruane can just shove and he might have to call. Probably had a bet fold strategy in mind when leading out.

  • @santaclause3487
    @santaclause3487 9 місяців тому

    It’s a cool hand. They both know what each other has exactly by the time it’s over. Cause 89 is Ruanes only possible combo. Maybe J10 ♠️ or Q10 ❤️ but those are really unlikely and only 2 combos. And 77 is Obst only hand possible besides maybe KQ clubs.
    89 and 77 just called an open pre and they went 4ways to flop. All like 100bb effective. We can rule out QQ cause neither of them just flat a open with it.
    77 in sb checks, KQ continue bet, 89 raised, and 77 reraises. Open folds and 89 calls.
    QQ isn’t possible, JJ that didn’t 3bet pre, now isn’t possible. Cause JJ doesn’t just call and slow play on QJ7 2 tone board. Too many bad turns, may as well get it in with JJ which is nuts.
    The turn brings 10 of clubs. So 77 slows down. He thinks ruane has a flush most likely and he’s right. Ruane bets this board no matter what I think. Ruane cant even have 89 of anything else but clubs. All 89 suited fold pre. maybe Ruane has a couple combos of Q10 suited, unlikely.
    Easy check call for 77.
    Now the river pairs board. Now 77 beats all flushes so bets small targeting like A-high flush draws. Obst leads all boats and some block bets with a couple flushes he could have like KQ of clubs.
    When Ruane shoves he’s is really polar.
    he can’t have QQ, can’t have JJ, doesn’t have 1010.
    Q10 ❤️ only combo of Q10 left. can’t see it raising flop and calling a reraise. It’s possible but like 1/1000 I think.
    J10 clubs aint impossible, maybe J10 of spades, but that’s unlikely to continue like that after flop too.
    Ruane doesn’t shove a Ace high flush, he just calls that size bet or hero folds.
    77 really is only losing to 1 hand and it’s 89 of clubs.
    This is a really cool hand, cause Obst knows ruanes exact combo. And ruane would have a 66% chance of nailing Obst hand, only question would be are the 7s 💎 ♠️ and/or ❤️

    Yes we can see the cards but It's really not a hard fold. Only hand he beats is a bluff. The guy was the original raiser, could easily have QQ, JJ, Q10, J10 he is not shoving on the river with anything other than a better full house

    He’s not putting him on just a straight flush. He’s only got the 8th nuts and Ruane is not shoving worse for value and a bluff would be pretty filthy.

    Ruane would have shoved on the flop if he had QQ or JJ given the board was connected with lots of draws. So although Obst’s read was impressive, it was actually an easier read for him given the post flop action

    Hell of a laydown, but not unheard of. Obst has the worst possible boat and Ruane would have no reason to shove the river with a flush (what worse hands call him?) but it was very impressive to read him precisely for the straight flush.

    Obviously at this stage in the main event is a very disciplinate and good fold but i think is way too easy that what it can seems to fold that full house.
    The key of the hand is on the river; after a bet, a raise and a re reraise from obst and a call of ruane, a bet from ruane and a donk bet followed by a shove by ruane the thing is one: ruane's shove on the river CAN NOT BE EVER A BLUFF. So, which are hands that obst beat on the river for value? NOONE. Ruane flats preflop and a hand like AK clubs or QQ and JJ raise almost 100% preflop, he can't have 10's cause he's not raising on the flop and Q10 and J10 are not calling a 5.3 4bet on the flop. So onst call it correctly cause the only hand that has sense is exactly 98 of clubs. And the most important thing is that Obst can only beat a bluff. And ruane i repeat is NEVER SHOVING LIGHT and it can't have anything different of what he had with that kind of action on flop turn and river.
