    I recently went to a tubular strap tether from Hang Free. You may want to give it a look. Another great video. Keep them coming.

    New to saddle hunting. I really like the prusik on the bridge loop. I'll be setting mine up that way now. Taking a carabiner out of the equation saves weight and brings me a little more piece of mind. I was on a pretty big pendulum on a steep 12/12 roof a few years ago. I heard "click" and felt gravity in full force. I ended up doing some type of weird spinny flip and caught myself like a spider in the valley. I sliced my hand (metal roof) my carabiner had unscrewed it's self at some point and the gate opened on the pendulum.
    So now I religiously check my biners even with auto locking in the saddle.

      Question.
      Can I do this with a hand tied prusik or is or is an endless loop necessary.

    Spencer I really enjoyed this review and have been using this tether since Casey from Aero Hunter sent it to me to test. Since receiving this from Casey my other tethers sit in my bag as a backup. One of the things a lot of new and seasoned saddle hunters struggle with is the availability of the popular ropes and rope grab devices. I get calls and emails from guys all the time looking for alternatives and I think Casey hit a home run with this tether in both functionality and price. Thanks for the review!

    If that carabiner is the Fusion Essence 9313-2 then that whole system is a steal. That carabiner is my best & 2nd place isn't even close. I got it from Aerohunter when I ordered my Kestrel Flex. I have bought 4 Oplux 8mm tethers from WEI. One of them was the full KISS system. That loop @ the end put back through the carabiner is a must. Keeps everything neat & safe with no clutter.
    One thing u might want to try is just going with the poor man's ascender clip & paracord instead of all the metal is changing the hitch. The recommended hitchcord for the Oplux 8mm is the Sterling 5.9mm Powercord. That way u buy like 25 feet & cut to length. Catches & breaks great & u can use a Michoacon with it & close it with a Hunters Bend. Functionality & ultimate safety all in one. If u just want to use the Michoacon & an Oplux on your saddle as a backup to the Shrike is always a good option. I carry 2 bridges ➕ a Samson Predator 11.4mm lanyard that I use a choker system with to hold me in place when I'm trimming branches. It has a 9mm eye to eye on it with the Michoacon. Not all Hitchcord is created equal. Just have to find ones that match like the Oplux with the Sterling Powercord. Thanks for the video & I'm getting a Shrike for 2022 along with an additional Fusion carabiner of course😉.

    So I’m guessing you just ordered those sys haulers from tethrd? I was just curious because the old models were made with a nice orange zip cord, now they use black. Needless to say I miss the bright orange in the early morning hours, or just in general. I had the same thing happen to me, but sadly I traded my originals because I didn’t like the internal pockets on them, now I’m running what you have with the two pockets on the sides. Needless to say I’m intrigued with that tether ! Pretty cool. Good videos by the way man!

    if you tie the 6 mm trc hitch back to the carabiner with scaffold knots, rather than a loop, then it roughly doubles the strength because the weight is dispersed over 2 cords
    the middle of the hitch doesn't see the full load at all due to friction

    • @SaddleHunter
      @SaddleHunter 2 роки тому

      That cord is tied in an end to end configuration with scaffold knots.

    Hey Spencer, where do you get the castration bands that you use on the oplux tether? How durable are they? I noticed you had several on your tether in the video. Thanks!

    • @SaddleHunter
      @SaddleHunter 2 роки тому

      I buy them in a pack of 100 from Tractor Supply Company. The ones on there were on all season and neither broke. I usually keep 2-3 on the tether in case one breaks.

    The solution to the gunk on your plus is to get some rope wash, I will wash my climbing ropes and static line once a year to remove all the dirt and oil from out hands that builds up.

  • @thomascoffman2262

    I believe roughly half the load is taken on each side of the hitch cord though. So really it has twice the capacity as it’s tensile breaking load.

    • @MrShysterme
      @MrShysterme 2 роки тому

      this is true if both ends of the hitch are attached to the carabiner (sewn eyes or scaffold/poacher's knots) but not true if you use the hitch as a loop, since the area right under carabiner experiences full force when in a loop configuration

    • @SaddleHunter
