I think it's testament to the plasticity of the brain and power of the spirit that any one person could be so multi-talented, let alone an ongoing troupe of 1300-plus!
As a stage manager seeing such a rigorous and passionate training process is inspiring. To know a troop can be so whimsical and diverse, it’s awe inspiring
WOW! I don't think people realize how hard, and long it takes to be casted into a production! This was an amazing documentary and insight to the process of Cirque.
I always tear up when I see things like this because my life has never been that interesting. When I was young, I had no confidence due to horrible people and makes me think of what I could have done. I'll be 50 next year. I'm a widow with a child with Autism. My life is wonderful, I always wonder what if though.
Rebecca Seppanen I know the feeling. But have learn to simply stop wondering. It lessens the joy of what it is today. Plus it helps also to read and learn of everything that could be, not to teas myself, but to feel, somehow, part of it and it stop been what could have been.
Rebecca-you are a survivor, a widow and a mom of a special needs child. There's no training or safety harness to catch you, but you have obviously landed on your feet. Your life is real, not entertainment, and I'm sure there isn't a dull moment. I'm so glad you can say, "My life is wonderful," because it is.
There's a piano teacher of mine that started taking painting classes 2 years ago. She's around 50 years too, never did painting in her life before that but said that you never stop learning. There's an older gentleman that did a speech today at my boyfriend's Toastmasters club (a club program where you work on your public speaking/leadership skills, look them up they're everywhere), around 65 years of age and said that he was there because he wanted to better explain the knowledge he has in a way that's more understandable. My boyfriend's mom had to retire from work early because of a medical condition and now she spends her days volunteering, she loves the community there and you do something beyond helping yourself. What's available is dependant on your region but we're blessed to be in an era where there are so many opportunities to learn and grow for people of all ages. Hope you find one that suits you.
I had an often much too interesting life when I was younger, and I still think of different, better choices I could have made. Nonetheless, I am happy and know that at 72 I still have many choices on what do do with my life.
No. Not at all. I’m a contortionist that used to do musical theatre and circus is infinitely more demanding. Musical theater is nothing compared to this.
As a performer myself, I have gained so much respect for these people who pursue their dreams as hard as these people here have done. Anything worth having is worth fighting for. I loved this documentary and I hate watching documentaries.
I couldn't believe it when I was searching for tumbling coaches in Las Vegas and found "Luke" my daughters private coach on this documentary. He is the best tumbling coach she's ever had. Emily made it onto the 2015 Bishop Gorman Freshman Cheer Team only because of your great ability to work with her before the season tryouts. She misses you and would love to train again anywhere your available. If you kept our cell #s please feel free to call anytime. Are you in the Wynn show? I love cirque du soleil. My uncle was the top security for the co founder Guy Laliberte. My uncle has passed years ago but it always brings a smile to my face knowing he got to see such beauty a lot of times while at work :)
What a fantastic documentary of the persistence and power of such a journey. My heart cherishes the dreams of all those that audition and go home, and I have incredible admiration for those that persist in their journey and make it. I've known and danced with one Cirque dancer in my life. This documentary makes me want to reach out to her tonight and say "You're amazing" one more time.
Wow, Amazing. make me feel even more appreciate it by watching this documentary. I have no idea how hard they're have to go through. Thank you for uploaded this video
This is so wonderful. This is so special especially during the times we are living though. We need to see beauty, mystic, magic. and people working like family to accomplish goals.
Yes, I was in tears by the end of this process. Young people going for their dreams, not giving up or giving in. Then to make it to the stage, what a dream come true. I salute you all.
So amazing, this was a great documentary and it makes me even more in awe of these amazing performers. They have such talent, thank God for Cirque for giving them a place to shine where others can appreciate them!
i studied contorsionist andhand balancing for 8 years in germany, I'm pretty good and few weeks before i wanted to go to an cirque du soleil with some friends who also studied some acrobatics which came from families where the parents won olympic gold often. I got a backbend and now i can't go on with my acrobatics and will never doing high class sport again. its can be the best job on earth but it can turn around in like no time. its a hard business and i cried few times watching this documentary.
It's truly sad what happened to you. I'm very sorry to read that, really. However, if you're willing to see the positive side of it, you probably gained so much experience during your 8 years of athletism that this knowledge cannot disappear. Sometimes life shifts and changes so fast that we have no choice but to adapt to it by modifying our goals and dreams. Perhaps it's a revolution in your worldview that has to take place so you can use your other talents, passion and understanding of the field to make the world a better place! Value what you still have and not what is gone! It can be hard sometimes but we only grow from tough experiences. You have my support! xox
well, I'm a violin maker now and work for the german philharmonie and i actually had a audience with lang lang 3 days ago and I'm pretty good in doing violins. I really believe in destiny and even if you work your while life on reaching your goal and right before you get to reach it you fail it just means it never was meant to be for you to reach it. you just need to be positive and try to listen to your heart and feel what the real goal is. I'm 21 now so I'm pretty young but my goal to work for cirque du soleil was after 8 years of hard work ruined and i stayed positive and now i met the best piano player in the word and spoke to him for 5 minutes bc of my great work so its all about staying postiv.
danny behm Opportunities to find a new passion in life are endless. It's painful having to give up what you love doing, but in a way it's inspiring and uplifting knowing that you can open up to other possibilities out there. Thanks for sharing your story, good luck :)
lol, believe me. its more then you can imagine but they also work their whole life for it and mostly even ruin their bodies for that passion and work the money is juts a small give back for what they pay with their bodies. but you know. you have to work 6 days a week 2 shows per day and you get payed not per show, you get payed for seasons, if you have a solo act you get payed for al future shows in that season. and that means more then 100k
Wow, it's amazing what they go through, but you can tell they love every moment of it. I will appreciate seeing some of these amazing artists at the shows!
I've been doing static trapeze for only 13 years , i just started straps. Its completely different. completely differebt muscles . my message is, don't think you know every part of circus equipment. but i do love the pain.i go abit crazy if i don't go upside down in a few days :/,but i dont think i could ever do this this is crazy.i respect them so much for even having the courage to like.lgo for this :)
Whoa, 2 of the trainers shown intermittently came to our little show on maui to recoreograph our ground dances and help our aerial routines . These trainers were so inspiring, skilled, keen. It was gruelling but so much fun!
Tell me about it. And they don't even earn that much. Online it says up to 100,000 USD but that's for managers and not performers. Performers (it depends but they) make around 36-50,000 USD which is not much considering these people have trained all their life for this, with all that training taking away from their lives. I used to be in a top ranking cheerleading group (not the American stuff, I am talking hardcore tumbling and constantly throwing people) and now I am only 22 years old but my wrists are messed up.
Wow, that's the other side of things, isn't it. I personally would want to get in just as a "marker" in my life and nevermind anything else it would entail ($, sacrifice, etc.). I would be doing something else with my life also, just to have an equally desirable alternative to fall back on.
Bear in mind the many other positives about it though. I'm sure the teamwork and cast chemistry is ridiculous. Sure, the company may be there for the money, but (obviously) the number of people who *get* to do Cirque are very few. You can't take away the experience, and people get paid to do it. You don't have to make $100 grand to be happy; happiness is often determined by other things than cash.
I saw this documentary before I saw my first Cirque show in Las Vegas. It made the show even more amazing given how talented all the performers in that show all were.
Greatest show I have ever seen in my life. If you ever get the chance to see ANY cirque show, GO, buy the best seats you can. It's worth every penny and more. Absolutely mind blowing.
JUst in awe in pure awe to know behind the scenes of such a talented group of individuals that are pushed to the limits to give us a show for such a short time! Begin so close to these shows I neeed to give these performers my money they deserve this and more!!!
My old ballet teacher made an audition for a cirque... her mother flew her to Canada where the training was... she ended up shattering her ankle while doing a trampoline trick. She took up ballet and was the best teacher I ever had
The lady drinking her own urine: that's gross and disgusting - not groundbreaking or expressive. I think she was very mistaken about what they were looking for in the audition.
One of the most famous artists in the world allowed the general public to do whatever they wanted with her body with 72 different objects including scalpels and a gun and laid there while people cut her neck, cut her clothes off, and stuck rose thorns into her stomach.

I saw this show. This is an absolutely amazing show, it’s so so good and entertaining. I didn’t even know a show like this is was possible, it’s art, emotion and engineering all in one! Well worth the price!
My wife is going to Las Vegas next week to see TWO different shows...... she thought the tickets were priced a bit high but then we had a talk about who they are and what they do. Great stage performers for sure, worth every penny we paid !. Thank You for this Video.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason why Cirque du Soleil is the best in the whole world. Bravo to all those trying to be in it and to those in it. 👏👏👏
I saw my first Cirque Du Soleil show in the Pepsi Center here in Colorado. :D It was soo amazing, I was mesmerized through the whole thing and I took ALL of it in! I was really caught by the hoop and silk dancer. I think silk dancing would be amazing to learn.

I use to work with cirque du soleil, temporarily as an usher with cirque du soleil amaluna in Boston back in 2014. Boy it was super fun, meeting with the cast and gymnast performing in such a mesmerizing way. Usher had to be ready for certain task that are for safety reasons. One was the final act is the lizard was to juggle 7 balls and one was lit on fire. Some of us had to be on standby to make sure if it falls off the stage, we cover it with a fire blanket. One day it did, I had to cover it with a fire blanket, and manage to prevent the audience to be hurt. In return I got a cirque du soleil cap for my heroic act. Overall it was rewarding experience to watch the show every day. Never a day goes by on the memories working with cirque du soleil.
I've seen the show KA at the MGM twice now. Amazing show! The "clowns" in that show really stood out to me for their athleticism (swinging around and running up and down the stage as much as everyone else) and their humor. Great job by all of the performers at these shows. If you have never watched a show, do so!
Makes me think about this whole policy of database, THEN general training THEN getting a contract. Feels like realy difficult time of struggle, suspension (also financially) and unnecessary stress for those people. Especially for those that had completed general training and left out hanging.

There has to be some level of innate talent. No matter how much I sing or dance...I will never be good at it! LOL
You can be good at other things 😊
well, my life is a joke so...you wrong!
not surprised how extremely difficult it is to get in. i really can't find a word to describe their shows because it's so beautiful/ yet scary to watch
crazy to think they go through such intensive auditions just to be in the data base O.O
8
I think it's testament to the plasticity of the brain and power of the spirit that any one person could be so multi-talented, let alone an ongoing troupe of 1300-plus!
The Olympics are only a dress rehearsal. This is the pinnacle of sport.
Great show! I was cheering and laughing and clapping all the way through.
As a stage manager seeing such a rigorous and passionate training process is inspiring. To know a troop can be so whimsical and diverse, it’s awe inspiring
I saw Cirque in Las Vegas around 1995, It is indeed the best of the best performers.
you literally just said you saw Circus in Las Vegas
WOW! I don't think people realize how hard, and long it takes to be casted into a production! This was an amazing documentary and insight to the process of Cirque.
been to Cirque du Soleil's "O" in Vegas, it was breathtakingly beautiful
Same. I cried.
You can’t mourn what you never had. If it wasn’t meant to be, it simply wasn’t meant to be.
Cirque du Soleil: Musical theatre on LSD
No.
I have legit watched this 20 times because of Andrew
HAHA SAME
I couldn't believe it when I was searching for tumbling coaches in Las Vegas and found "Luke" my daughters private coach on this documentary. He is the best tumbling coach she's ever had. Luke I hope all is well with the new addition to the family and your family continues to grow. Emily made it onto the 2015 Bishop Gorman Freshman Cheer Team only because of your great ability to work with her before the season tryouts. She misses you and would love to train again anywhere your available. If you kept our cell #s please feel free to call anytime. Are you in the Wynn show? Was great to see you in this documentary working hard as always with such great talent. Blessing mate, hope this message finds you and the family well!
Cirque Du Soleil is so cool but man it must be so hard to even get a spot in that performance. These guys are like the best of the best.
Was there ever any doubt about that???
These are all world class athlets!!!
Plain and simple!!!
The VERY BEST of the VERY BEST!!!
ALL ARE GOLD MEDAL, PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES!!!
Their body control is amazing. I might like guns and trucks but this is amazing
I have so much respect for these performers. They have so much tenacity, mental and physical strength that I think is very admirable.
I saw the Varekai show like 10 or so years ago.. What an amazing, amazing group of performers! I still remember it like it was yesterday.
I'm hoping to audition in December (2014) as an aerial dancer/contortionist...now I'm more than slightly intimidated :P
You'll do great!
Just do your best and you will make it!
good luck!
Good luck !!!!
i understand that, but i am sure you'll be fine. just give your best, and if it doesn't workout, you can still apply again (with 20 applications ;P).
I really would have liked to see a bit more of the singers' audition process
Watch american idol or the other 3000 singing shows there are....
Watch "Fire Within". It shows the singers' audition process followed by the development and rehearsal for Cirque's show Varekai!
The only thing I'd probably be able to do is be a clown! lol
Depends on which show your on
I thought the same lmao
xloveXghoulx I subbed! I hope you can support me back with a sub:)
you must to be a super talented clown!!
Actually I believe that clowning is pretty advanced stuff. At this level its taken pretty seriously.
I have been to their performances and was blown away. These people are no joke.
They are all so freaking amazing I don't know what I mean it's beyond words actually
Tiempo Nuevo - we are living through the most globally peaceful and prosperous time in history. Is that what you meant?
Man, I bet those three had an amazing friendship by the end of training.
I’ve watched 4 cirque du soleil shows and this documentary makes me appreciate the show 100 times more
Yes, I was in tears by the end of this process.
Natalie Nightwolf love your channel I subbed! I hope you can support me back with a sub:)

Damn that takes a lot to make it in a show so many talented people
i studied contorsionist andhand balancing for 8 years in germany, I'm pretty good and few weeks before i wanted to go to an cirque du soleil with some friends who also studied some acrobatics which came from families where the parents won olympic gold often.
Do Cirque performers get paid well?
lol, believe me. its more then you can imagine but they also work their whole life for it and mostly even ruin their bodies for that passion and work the money is juts a small give back for what they pay with their bodies.
but you know. you have to work 6 days a week 2 shows per day and you get payed not per show, you get payed for seasons, if you have a solo act you get payed for al future shows in that season. and that means more then 100k
Wow, it's amazing what they go through, but you can tell they love every moment of it. I will appreciate seeing some of these amazing artists at the shows!
Thank you, you bring happiness to all over the world. I Love your work, your magic, your compromise. THANK YOU ALL!!
+Palesa Esuk Haha. That's seems to be the take away for this doc. That and take dance lessons! x)
That sound amazing!
+André Domingues sounds*
"I don't give a flying fuck now dance for me" :'D
Lol, like when Yo Sammity Sam was shooting pistols at Bugs Bunny's feet.
Whoa, 2 of the trainers shown intermittently came to our little show on maui to recoreograph our ground dances and help our aerial routines . These trainers were so inspiring, skilled, keen. It was gruelling but so much fun!
10 shows a week is crazy! Surely with all the talent trying to audition, Cirque can afford to treat the athletes better than that?
Just another ruthless company (the list is long) squeezing their workers for all they've got.
Welcome to the world of entertainment.
I’m so happy for all of those who got in to the database! So talented all of them and worked so hard for it!
So beautiful!! Justin, damm Justin..to cute. All of them did great!!!!!!
These people are literally athletes. Like, this shit is no joke. It should be in the olympics. This is like crazier than gymnastics.
Hands down the best documentary I've ever seen (and I've seen hundreds thanks to UA-cam) I'm actually sad it's over...
Cirque du Soleil is Quebec's best know export next to maple syrup.
zooeyhall and also Celine Dion, she keeps on giving!
Celine Dion suck.
Bastobasto agreed
Ahead of maple syrup, but behind NHL hockey goalies.
Probably 'us' failing the audition.
One of the most famous artists in the world allowed the general public to do whatever they wanted with her body with 72 different objects including scalpels and a gun and laid there while people cut her neck, cut her clothes off, and stuck rose thorns into her stomach.
@@aarishowton8037 And?
when?
There's a reason that she was only around for 30s or so... shocking material if it's nothing more, is just that: shock value.
Such an amazing documentary and stories about what it takes to make the production team of Cirque Du Soleil. So happy for Justin and those who made it in. xo
I saw this show. This is an absolutely amazing show, it’s so so good and entertaining. I didn’t even know a show like this is was possible, it’s art, emotion and engineering all in one! Well worth the price!
That was amazing thank you. Well done Andrew. We saw saltenbanco in Birmingham, it was astounding. By far the favourite of the four shows I've seen.
lol I y I my
I really wish there were more circuses like this
Me too
You can check out the circue the berzerk :)
there seems to be plenty of talent that isn't allowed into this one.
There are TONS! Just not as large or as popular but still many amazing all human circus' out there :)
@@mikilfaith9718 What are some in the Canada or U.S
ahhhh i wish they'd gone into the musician auditions a bit x-x
My wife is going to Las Vegas next week to see TWO different shows...... she thought the tickets were priced a bit high but then we had a talk about who they are and what they do. Great stage performers for sure, worth every penny we paid !. Thank You for this Video.
Thank you for the people who put together this documentary and for these unbelievably brave and strong, wildly athletic, talented performers!!!
one day i will come back to this video, only to write . . . i did it
Al,the good vibes for you :)
I'll hold you to that. Good luck!
Good luck!
Good luck :)
Wishing you the best let us know

Jim Myers same
IKR
Same
RIGHT.
I screamed inside.
all of them are so talented its crazy
This is why I love ppl who perform is hard work and training. Its not just aesthetic but its difficult.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason why Cirque du Soleil is the best in the whole world. Bravo to all those trying to be in it and to those in it. 👏👏👏
I saw my first Cirque Du Soleil show in the Pepsi Center here in Colorado. :D
It was soo amazing, I was mesmerized through the whole thing and I took ALL of it in!
I was really caught by the hoop and silk dancer. I think silk dancing would be amazing to learn.
I'm 14 and not very flexible but still more flexible than some. This is my dream and I want to train my asss off for it. This is everything I've ever wanted and these people are inspiring me to push myself to achieve the things I thought were impossible. So thank you.
I'm 18 and would love to do this too---
well did you make your goal?
The song around 20:26 is Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap.
You're welcome (:
i love you
I forgot I wanted to know what that song was until I got to your comment. thanks!
Thank you!!! You are the best!!!!!!! 😁😁
THANK YOU
Thank you, the great-mind-reader! 💛
Just came from one of their shows!! Luzia and it was amazing!!!!! I saw one of their shows OVO years ago and I was hooked!
Stacy looks like she thrives on crushing people's dreams
this is a great documentary! I have watched it quite a few times.
Dance Circus Me same
No wonder the tickets are so expensive, definitely well priced. So far I’ve seen O and Love in Vegas ... so good , such impeccable artistry ✨
the amount of effort that goes into this is crazy, such amazing people.
06:12 : "Russian Swing: you only fall once." How encouraging!
I'm really hoping to audition next time they have auditions for martial arts!!
Ive seen them a million times, given that i’m born and raised in Montreal! They always have top notch quality performances, its amazing.
Amazing one of the best documentaries I have seen in my life !
Thank you. This was extremely informative, interesting and beautiful.
