After G84 was launched, I was preparing to buy that and suddenly I saw G54 which seemed cheaper and a better option and just when I was getting ready to buy that, 40 Neo is launched. Damn Motorola, at least allow me to buy a phone and spend time with it without regretting it too early.
People shit on moto for no reason. The only brand that gives proper ip 68 rating near that price is samsung and all those phones even the ones with ip67 rating are more expensive than moto. Moto gives not just that but also 144 hz refresh rates, better chipsets in Qualcomm and mediatek dimensity. It's one of the brands of Nokia's era that still gives that long lasting vibe of the times when these two brands were the biggest giants in mobile world. You might find yourself replacing some parts within a decade but the phone doesn't die easily. We are lucky Motorola decided to compete with newer brands for affordability and chose to stick to that route.
I just purchased this phone on the January sales from Amazon for only £250, and I must say, this is a eye pleasing phone to look at, and the feel is perfect, what shocked me the most is the quality of the camera for this budget, it's crystal clear and the video recording in the front and back camera is 4k clear, just wow, well done Motorola 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I just bought one of these from Motorola. £249.99 including Bose Quietcomfort 2 earbuds. It replaces a Pixel 6 and feels like a step forward, bar the camera. A really nice design and great performance.
Motorola know what they are doing. I had a Moto X as my first smart phone and it was great. They have only gotten better and seem to produce great low to mid range phones. How can this be £300 with all the features it has????
I have moto edge 40, bought 2 months ago. But I notice now that if they would given a 10 bit display in edge 40, it would be better and also noticed some changes in peek display and lockscreen.
I have this phone £299 with some free Bose Quiet Comfort earbuds. Sold the earbuds for £120. A brilliant phone in every way for what boiled down to £180. Well satisfied.
So they made the phone bigger, improved the cameras, curved the display and took away the wireless charging. I was tempted to buy 30 Neo, but poor camera quality put me off. This time it's bigger size. Nevertheless, I think they have made serious improvements which most people want.
Think of it more of a budget moto edge 40 than the 30 neo successor. Its basically the same with a bigger camera, no wireless charging, worse camera and processing power.
Best bang for the buck in the business, as a US customer. Yeah OS updates are nice but the phone doesnt self destruct without them. It still works as intended. Apple and Samsung are ridiculously overpriced, Google sells cameras with a phone functionality tacked on and the other Chinese brands(like Oneplus), while great in their own right, sometimes have compatibility issues with the USA networks. Go Moto
Great video chris! Youre so funny. Motorola is on a roll right now! Im extrmely happy with my Edge 30 Neo. Compact, fast charge, goegeous screen, stock android and most importantly from the mighty Motorola we all love. ❤
This is the phone I've been looking for. The battery lasts for hours and when it's dead I can just put it on charge go have a shower and it's full by the time I finish. And it even can with a nice hard plastic phone case. Love it ❤❤
Thanks always Chris for spurting your expertise all over our faces. I'm about to buy this now to replace my Edge 30 Neo that's 2 years old. Down to £249, I was considering the 8a for £500 or waiting another year for the 9a/discounted 8a. Sounds silly, but I can't part with the judo chop torch function that I make use of every day! Cheers
I think this is good value and will sell well but it's a bit of an own goal. It is too close in most specs to the Motorola Edge 40 so it will cannibalise sales of that 'higher end' model. At the same time, it is disappointing for fans of the Edge 30 Neo who preferred the smaller size, myself included and I will not buy the Edge 40 Neo because of the size increase.
I don't know what it is made from but Motorola keep making phone. I just watched a friend of mine take off the screen protector and then the case of the phone then proceed to throw it in the air hitting the ceiling and the landing screen down on tiles (repeated this 4 more times) the phone didn't have a scratch on it. Then his person proceeded to take it to the corner of the wood burner (cast iron) and smack it screen down in to the wood burner. The phone still not broken. He turn to everyone and says let doo that with your iphones. The only reason he uses a screen protector is to prevent scratching on the phone. I am now the proud owner of a Motorola edge 40 neo . My last phone was Samsung S10 plus that the screen failed when i pressed it in my pocket on a bench hand rest sideways .
I bought this phone two weeks ago, everything is great at this price: IP68, lightweight and thin design, Curved OLED 144Hz display, 12 GB RAM and 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage, clean and fast UI + CPU, Good camera, Amazing stereo speakers, 68w in-box charger! @@andrewfitzman Heating is common among phones with Exynos and Mediatek chips. The only negative thing about this phone is battery draining while using mobile data + 144hz refresh rate.
