Some people change the oil every 3000 miles which is pointless, if you are changing the oil that frequently then there is no point changing the filter but if you are changing the oil once a year or every 10,000 miles then yes change the filter every time.
multijet from 2004... has 2 types of filter, Purflux and another. Since 10 years we only fill oil a little over minimum for warming faster. oilchange since 3 years after 150.000 and no problem (as youtube "kein ölwechsel"). (besides: against Marder/martens helps greasing the motorspace ..and keeps longlife)
I’m afraid I can’t remember now and I’ve not owned the car for a long time (+5 years) however there are two videos on my channel for changing the oil filter so my advice is to check both versions as I know it is definitely mentioned in one of them.
I have got a Grande Punto and i can't work out as there appears to be 2 types of filter for the car, which one i need. Is it possible to take the cap off without loosing an excessive amount of oil?
there are two types of filter listed for this engine, they are very cheap, so I recommend buying both and then take the unused one back after, Always check when buying they are happy to take back the unused item, this means you can get the job done and finished without having to worry about putting it all back together and going to get a different filter

PuntoHowto I don't have a punto but the Swift diesel uses the same engine, was simply curious as to whether there were any weird sockets required or the plugs were hidden somewhere and you had to remove stuff to get at them, but it sounds like probably not. For anyone else reading this, make sure you can undo your filler plug before you go and drain it. Could potentially save you from having no oil in the box and not being able to put any back in.
I don't normally, however its very simple, usually pour the flush into the normal engine oil before you change it, run the engine for 10 minutes or so to warm it up and spread the cleaning agents around the engine, then drain and change the oil and filter as normal. In an upcoming video I do this on the 1.6 multijet engine.
Sreekanth KL40 thanks for your support, new videos are on the way, currently trying to balance a very busy full time job and family life with getting the videos edited and posted, but there are a few in the can including engine flushing

Thanks for sharing video, it is very useful. have a question, is it necessary to replace the filter everytime during oil change?

very informative. thanks a ton!
This really helped. I used 10W40 half synthetic oil instead of 5W40 full synthetic.
Thanks for sharing
Jean-Gustave Nsabiyera these engines have hydraulic tappets so thicker oil isn't recommended, that said its not going to be the end of the world
The timing chain tensioner is also hydraulic, so, not the end of the world but maybe the end of the engine.
@@ricky302v8 haha it has no chain but belt haha
Brother thanks for help
Can you say the size of plastic bolt.of the oil filter please?

If you know, can you tell us about tightening torque?
Filter case and sump?
MTBIgor torque settings are embossed in the plastic of the housing, i forget what they are at the moment.
25 Nm

might not use the same gearbox, even fiat don't use the same gear box for different models, on the punto it's large Allen/Hex keys to drain and refill
Loudwire tune isn't it?
Icansee u I think it was a free to use tune from Apple movie editor
i got the same engine on my 2006 suzuki swift ddis.
Good stuff, there where quite a few cars that gained this very good strong little engine.
