प्राण के कारण लोहू ही से प्रायश्चित्त होता है।(लैव्यवस्था 17:11 )
तो मसीह का लोहू जिस ने अपने आप को सनातन आत्मा के द्वारा परमेश्वर के साम्हने निर्दोष चढ़ाया, तुम्हारे विवेक को मरे हुए कामों से क्यों न शुद्ध करेगा, ताकि तुम जीवते परमेश्वर की सेवा करो।

जिस ने परमेश्वर के स्वरूप में होकर भी परमेश्वर के तुल्य होने को अपने वश में रखने की वस्तु न समझा। वरन अपने आप को ऐसा शून्य कर दिया, और दास का स्वरूप धारण किया, और मनुष्य की समानता में हो गया। और मनुष्य के रूप में प्रगट होकर अपने आप को दीन किया, और यहां तक आज्ञाकारी रहा, कि मृत्यु, हां, क्रूस की मृत्यु भी सह ली।

पर यदि जैसा वह ज्योति में है, वैसे ही हम भी ज्योति में चलें, तो एक दूसरे से सहभागिता रखते हैं; और उसके पुत्र यीशु का लोहू हमें सब पापों से शुद्ध करता है। यदि हम कहें, कि हम में कुछ भी पाप नहीं, तो अपने आप को धोखा देते हैं: और हम में सत्य नहीं। यदि हम अपने पापों को मान लें, तो वह हमारे पापों को क्षमा करने, और हमें सब अधर्म से शुद्ध करने में विश्वासयोग्य और धर्मी है। (1 यूहन्ना 1:7-9)
इसलिये यदि तुम मनुष्य के अपराध क्षमा करोगे, तो तुम्हारा स्वर्गीय पिता भी तुम्हें क्षमा करेगा। और यदि तुम मनुष्यों के अपराध क्षमा न करोगे, तो तुम्हारा पिता भी तुम्हारे अपराध क्षमा न करेगा॥

तब तुम वह चान्दी जिस से तुम्हारी खुदी हुई मूत्तियां मढ़ी हैं, और वह सोना जिस से तुम्हारी ढली हुई मूत्तियां आभूषित हैं, अशुद्ध करोगे। तुम उन को मैले कुचैले वस्त्र की नाईं फेंक दोगे और कहोगे, दूर हो। (यशायाह 30:22)
उनकी वेदियों को ढा देना, उनकी लाठों को तोड़ डालना, उनकी अशेरा नाम मूत्तिर्यों को आग में जला देना, और उनके देवताओं की खुदी हुई मूत्तिर्यों को काटकर गिरा देना, कि उस देश में से उनके नाम तक मिट जाएं।

हमारा परमेश्वर तो स्वर्ग में हैं; उसने जो चाहा वही किया है। उन लोगों की मूरतें सोने चान्दी ही की तो हैं, वे मनुष्यों के हाथ की बनाईं हुई हैं। उनका मुंह तो रहता है परन्तु वे बोल नहीं सकती; उनके आंखें तो रहती हैं परन्तु वे देख नहीं सकतीं। उनके कान तो रहते हैं, परन्तु वे सुन नहीं सकतीं; उनके नाक तो रहती हैं, परन्तु वे सूंघ नहीं सकतीं। उनके हाथ तो रहते हैं, परन्तु वे स्पर्श नहीं कर सकतीं; उनके पांव तो रहते हैं, परन्तु वे चल नहीं सकतीं; और अपने कण्ठ से कुछ भी शब्द नहीं निकाल सकतीं। जैसी वे हैं वैसे ही उनके बनाने वाले हैं; और उन पर भरोसा रखने वाले भी वैसे ही हो जाएंगे॥
