Very nice.... love that it's a 4-door. I have a similar project that maybe I'll get to before I die. 69 GS. I was also going to go with a 430, but with 7.1BBC rods, Pro-tru .045" over AMC 401 pistons, Comp XE274H cam. Should end up around 9.5:1 at zero deck. Might have them give it a slight stroke when the crank is ground, depending on the deck height. I'm looking for 450hp with a 2500 stall and a 3.08-3.23 rear end gear for a street cruiser that can hit mid-low 12's. I'd like to go with Microsquirt EFI on it.
Your engine and exhaust combo sounds more than great, I can't wait to finish my 1969 Buick 430 project!! But you have to do something with the fuel pump that's soooooo loud.
Very nice build. Stock, the 430 (now 442 cu in - .030 over) Buick put out 360 HP, 475 lb-ft of torque. I'm guessing this setup is pushing ~500 HP, 580 lb-ft. Very healthy for a 430. During the rebuild I hope Mr. Woodward here addressed the 430's somewhat weak oil passage issues.
Hey i just bought a 1969 wildcat with a 430 in it well its a blown motor and im building another 430 to put in it which mods do i need to do to fix the oiling issue
@@KarmaBeABeach There is no "fix" for the 430's oiling issue. It's a GM design flaw of the block itself, "baked right in", so to speak. Oil galleys are too small.
Very nice build! I like the 4 door thing, way different! But, there way to many fuel pumps on the market that will do just as good or better job than the one you’re using, and won’t make nearly the same amount of noise. You can heat that thing coming down the street!
I just swapped my 350 olds for a 403 that sounds exactly like this but it has an exhaust leak at header gasket and collector. did you ever take this to a track?
I had my 400turbo done in my 90 silverado while back when it shifted the dash would bang hard truck would chirp some serious tire . Hope to get to build another transmission someday would like to have my 2003 Town Car done
@@relesse13 Yes, I had the machine work on the engine done by a local shop. I assembled everything including the bottom end and the trans was start to finish my work. It took a couple months but it turned out great! Since this video, I built a Ford 9 inch (spooled, 350 gears), and did a front/rear disc brake conversion kit (with a vacuum booster). Jacob Woodward Hello Jacob , I have a Buick riviera 1967 with the 430 with shorty headers with a street demon carburetor with TA performance cam and a electric fuel pump which is a holley 12-920. This pump is cost a bit but it is worth it and you do not hear it
The cam is a Howard's Cam part # 558021-09 ($200 on Summit). Advertised Duration 281/289, Lift .501/.501. I'm not sure what springs I ended up going with. However, TA Performance has a ton of parts and knowledge on these old BOP engines. They have a variety of valve springs and will help you spec what you need when you order over the phone (great people to work with). Thanks for the comment.
@@calebwhite1454 I'm not sure what brand/model headers (no tag and they came with the car). They are steel long tubes with a 3.5 inch collector. After that is true duel 3inch piping with Flowmaster Super 44's. Hope this helps
Have you considered to put mufflers on your fuel pump? ;)

Nice Job on the sleeper ! Ha Ha - Sweet big buddy . Enjoy ! No wet roads bud , really --->
Sounds just like my brother's 68 skylark but his has a built 350 small block buick with Big ratty cam etc etc
awesome! greetings from Germany! I like and i will have it! :)
Nice i got 2 68 rivieras one is a gs i installed 455 in both cars the gs chirps the tires on 2nd gear automatic
You have a friking car. Even 4 door is A O K 2 ME.
Is that the big daddy rattler or the big mama rattler?

Agreed the 430 was a touchy engine...they don't like to get beat on... the 455 is a tougher motor.

What’s the cam from Howard’s called?
hey curious if u still have the skylark, did you ever do the disc conversion? i just got a 71 skylark and plan to do so
Needs a little idle circuit tuning, or at least a little higher idle if not.
Very long stroke, very low idle
Did u improve you're oiling to valve trian by going oil thru push rods? Sounds great
430 bored .030" over = 442 cu. in. Nice. So that's not an Olds 442, it's a Buick "442" (I know, "Olds 442" doesn't mean engine displacement).
The 430 would have to be bored .060 over to reach 442 cubic inches. At .030 over, it's 436 cubic inches.
what cam (size of lift/duration), lifters, rods, and crank did you wind up going with
What cam is in that thing?! Building a 430 for my wildcat right now.
so intrigued about the cam too
Nice car! you mentioned howard cam but what part number? and which valve springs do you use?
What cam is that?
What brakes are u gonna put on this bad boy?
thee original sleeper, nice
Is that the reverse light in the bumper?
If you mean on the inside area of the turn/brake light lenses, yes those are the backup lamps.
What rear end gears are you running?
super sleeper.
is that the fuel pump thing wines like a sumbitch.. I thought it was somebody using a weed wacker on their lawn
