That was brilliant fun. I'm way old enough to recognize almost all the songs immediately. Unfortunately I'm old enough to need more than 8 seconds to remember what they were.
Thanks for your feedback and for being here! A lot of people like to pause the video to think about the answer. As long as you keep it fun for you, we won't tell anyone 😉✌🏻
I wonder how many of today's songs will be instantly recognisable like these in 60 years time. I was a teenager in the UK in the late sixties and I've never heard of Les Cactus, either.
"I wonder how many of today's songs will be instantly recognisable like these in 60 years time." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh, do they still record songs nowadays? All I hear on the radio these days is garbage.
It was a great era but we were young. Did they say that back in the swing era? I think the young like what they grow up with. There are great singers and songs out there now but lots of rubbish too.
I’m joining this line too! I thought most were very easy, especially guessing the songs’ titles. I’ll admit to never having heard the Les Cactus song or artist before, and had a bit of trouble recalling the name of The Shirelles, but eventually got it.
Enjoyable! Instead of just watching you could participate in especially if you grew up listening to these songs nice idea yeah I’m a baby boomer 1955 that’s a lot of decades I do love 90s tho another great decade 👍🏻
Thanks for this one. I got them all except "Les Cactus" by Jacques Dutronc Never heard of the guy. But I did look up the video of him on youtube and he put on a pretty crazy performance.😃
That's the only one I missed ,too. I was ages 10-20 during the 60's and had most of those on 45's. It was the tendency, maybe the rule, for DJ's on AM radio to talk through the instrumental intro, right up until the first lyric, so some of the intro's were hard to remember because we never heard them clearly. I guarantee anyone listening to the radio then would get "Wild Thing" after the first guitar wail.
It's funny... sometimes I couldn't remember the name of the song right away, but I could sing all the words to all of them. Now I can barely remember my own name some days. lol
That was fun. I missed a few and am in agreement regarding the Cactus track. One thing I noticed that a couple of those songs were written by a very famous lady... Thanks for this presentation, very nicely done.
Many thanks for compiling this quiz, thoroughly enjoyed playing it and it brought back many memories of my youth. Got every question correct but that is not the point - am not into point scoring - it was just the sheer magic that in each question what a few bars of music triggered happy memories
Thank you so much for being here!! The Cactus song was a wink to our international audience. Not popular in English speaking countries, it was a hit across French speaking countries! A little left field for sure! Thanks for being here and thanks for sharing your love of music everyday!
Hey! That was a lot of fun Thanks Pal. Yes...I missed the "Les Cactus" song. I also didn't get Otis doing Try A Little Tenderness and The Rolling Stones song Sympathy For The Devil" as well. They used the unknown part of the song for me and stumped me good. Still Fun.
I'm happy to say I got 1 wrong, never heard that Cactus song. 60's is my time, was told several times I could not play any more at trivia shows. Would suck trying the 70's but I will try.
My two fun facts on these- Unchained Melody is called that because it was the theme for a film set in a Prison called "Unchained" The lyrics then make lots of sense with time going by slowly and wondering if you are still mine. These Boots are Made for Walking was written by Lee Hazlewood intending to sing it himself but Nancy Sinatra told him it sounds wrong if a man sings it.
The French one I definitely never heard before. Three of them I knew who sang them but couldn't get my brain to name the song. The rest I knew. As a fellow commenter remarked, I was around when they were new; my brain is old enough to need more time to sort through everything for the answers. But they're in there.
Interesting quiz--I got most of them, but I admit I had to stop the video a couple of times to think for a moment. Wasn't sure of the Otis Redding song and I don't think I ever heard of the song by the French-sounding guy. Guess I qualify as an old geezer from the 1960's.
I didn't get them all, I guess I was too young for some of them, got all but 3 (never listened to the ones by Jimi Hendrix or Otis Redding, preferred their more famous hits). Never even heard of the French one!
I was only 11 when the 60s ended, I grew up listening to pop music at night in bed on my little radio. My parents had very conservative musical taste so this was the only time I could listen uninterrupted so I am amazed I could remember as many as I did
Missed 2 - I recognized the opening to the Otis Redding tune, but thought it was the intro to a song from The Band. I also never heard of Jacques Dutronc or Les Cactus.
With me it was all or nothing. If I liked the song it took about 2 microseconds to name it. If I had not liked it, I didn't have a clue. Got 15 right. Songs I couldn't identify were by artists I never cared for and didn't listen to, like the rolling bones and the self-righteous brothers. I never even heard of the cactus song; was that ever played in America?
Eighteen and a half. Never heard of Les Cactus, and confused the Ronettes with the Shirelles. The sixties were much more Top 40 with a real mix, the emergence of FM in the seventies started to split the genres apart, so didn't do as well on the seventies quiz.
Didn’t get ‘Les Cactus’! Frankly never heard of it or heard it before! Got all the rest (including naming the bands or solo artists! Sixties music was the best!
I got 19 out of the 20. Only one was that cactus song never heard of it. BTW I was born in 1960 iam a professional drummer played most of the songs in the mid 1970's at Disneyland in California.
Awesome score! Yeah Cactus was very left field, as it was very popular in francophone countries, so a little ode to our more international followers ;) well done!!
Anybody here young enuf to think of Quagmire's dad boppin' down the stairs when Nancy Sinatra came on? By the way, I'm 51, and missed 3. The 'cactus' one I've never even heard.
As a late 40s living here in the Philippines, i can only guess 4 songs correctly but i'm familiar of only 5 out of 20 songs. House of the rising sun, wild thing, will you still love me tomorrow, unchained melody and hey jude.
If anyone doesn't have a perfect score on this then you did not grow up in the 60's, on the other hand you know what they say if you remember everything about the 60's then you weren't really there !
Cactus was a left field one as it was super popular in French speaking countries but maybe not US or UK. A little wink to our international audience :)
Pedantic Corner ! If you gave yourself a point for " Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow " Sorry but you will have to give it back. because the title is "Will You Love Me Tomorrow", The word STILL is only in the lyrics not the title . Sorry Musiquizzers but you got that wrong. Good fun quiz tho.
I recognized most, but as never a fan of Tamala Mowtown, couldn't name most of those, although I recognized the intros. "Les Cactus" by Jacques Dutronc. Where was that successful? I would guess France, but why not songs from other countries then?
Some I got by the first two notes, the Jacques Dutronc I never heard of, and a few of them flew over my head quite embarrassingly. I keep thinking, maybe I should have listened a bit harder and a bit longer when I was back there...funny, no elvis, no Everlies...and to be honest, at this age it gets harder and harder to connect song to singer to title...
Aretha Franklin sang the original version of this song in 1967, when Carole King composed it for her. King then performed that song herself in 1971! 😊 if you know of any earlier version of the song, I did not and the choice of Franklin was all in good faith :)
"All Along the Watchtower" was not written by Hendrix, it was a song by Bob Dylan... Was that cheating? By asking the title AND the artist, you also need to specify that you want an answer that fits only THIS version of the song. I suppose the same could be said for other songs here, like "House of the Rising Sun" (Clarence Ashley, 1933), but that would be pedantic since it's not really from that decade at all, but the Dylan song was from only 6 months earlier than the Hendrix cover. I'm a French-speaking Canadian over 60, and I've never ever heard of "Les Cactus"! So, tell me, how the hell does that get into a quizz with those other English-language songs, eh? Is it just because it's from the '60s? --> So were thousands of other French, Spanish, German, and Italian songs which didn't make your list... I doubt very much that this 4th place song had any appreciable airtime at all outside of France. Is this another instance of you playing fast and loose with the rules? Why should we bother playing these games at all if you're just gonna throw in any ole song you want just to spoil the fun? 🤷♂
Wow. I am bad at titles. I could sing most of these, but not fast enough to get to the title line part of the lyrics. And two Beatles songs. I approve. (Even with the one stupid cactus song that none of us on here know).
These are pretty easy but FUN. Us boomers would appreciate the challenge of 50s Rock n Roll. Doing country or folk would be interesting too. You should have included some ABBA in your 70s video, Petula Clark in this 60's one.
That was brilliant fun. I'm way old enough to recognize almost all the songs immediately. Unfortunately I'm old enough to need more than 8 seconds to remember what they were.
Lol ❤✌
Thanks for your feedback and for being here! A lot of people like to pause the video to think about the answer. As long as you keep it fun for you, we won't tell anyone 😉✌🏻
Me too
me too!
Yup😂
I wonder how many of today's songs will be instantly recognisable like these in 60 years time. I was a teenager in the UK in the late sixties and I've never heard of Les Cactus, either.
me either, and I'm from the US. I was a teenager in the 1960s as well.
"I wonder how many of today's songs will be instantly recognisable like these in 60 years time."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh, do they still record songs nowadays? All I hear on the radio these days is garbage.
It was a great era but we were young. Did they say that back in the swing era? I think the young like what they grow up with. There are great singers and songs out there now but lots of rubbish too.
20/20: a perfect score.
This was a great time for music, i'#m glad I grew up through the 60's and 70's and all the fantastic bands that entertained us.
I was a teen and still listen to the best decade of music ever. Our cars are tuned to 60’s on 6 on SirriusXM.
A wonderful decade of music for sure! Thanks for being here
I got 14. I didn't know "Les Cactus" nor have I ever heard of that guy.
Got all except "Les Cactus". Never heard the song and I too never heard of the artist.
I’m joining this line too! I thought most were very easy, especially guessing the songs’ titles. I’ll admit to never having heard the Les Cactus song or artist before, and had a bit of trouble recalling the name of The Shirelles, but eventually got it.
Same here. Some obscure French dude
Same for me
Actually he's a very popular singer/songwriter in France. 😉
Great quiz 16 /20 they don’t make music like that anymore best decade for music
Enjoyable! Instead of just watching you could participate in especially if you grew up listening to these songs nice idea yeah I’m a baby boomer 1955 that’s a lot of decades I do love 90s tho another great decade 👍🏻
Thank you for your feedback! Glad you're enjoying it! 😊
As a 16 year old I gotta say I’m pretty proud to have gotten pretty much everyone of these
You did awesome and have a great musical knowledge!! 🔥🫶🏻
Thanks for this one. I got them all except "Les Cactus" by Jacques Dutronc Never heard of the guy. But I did look up the video of him on youtube and he put on a pretty crazy performance.😃
In your defense Steve, J. Dutronc never had a song even close to making the top 100 - or at least, it's not listed by Joel Whitburn.
Likewise. Have no memory at all of "Les Cactus" or Jacques Dutronc. Tnanks for the youtube tip!
Me too, never heard of him!
I also missed Les Cactus
It's funny... sometimes I couldn't remember the name of the song right away, but I could sing all the words to all of them. Now I can barely remember my own name some days. lol
That was fun. I missed a few and am in
agreement regarding the Cactus track. One thing I noticed that a couple of those songs were written by a very famous lady... Thanks for this presentation, very nicely done.
Always making sure there is diversity of representation! And always learning! ♥️ Thanks for being here!
Carol King is a prolific song writer!
Wow, ...what a drag it is getting old.
Lol, it's fun.
54 years old -missed one-Le Cactus.
Got them all……but this is the music I grew up with 👍👍👍
Awesome! If you want you can subscribe as new quizzes come out regularly! Thanks for being here :)
Ah, yes, good old Les! Definitely one of his best.
HA HA HA!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Recognised every one the second you told us 😂😂 Great time , great music, enjoyed that 👏
That's awesome timing on OUR part 😂🥳
Really Good. I got 30 out of 40. Missed the odd title or artist. Great content. I subcribed.
I got 19 of them. That's because I was a teenager back in the 60's.
🎉🎉😊😊
I was a teenager in the 90s and I got 19 of them too. 😁
12 out of 20, recognized all 8 that I missed, had the songs for most of them. Not bad for someone born in the decade after this list.
Good list. I got them all except for the Cactus one, which probably nobody got, and the one by the Shirelles, which I should have gotten.
An unexpected 18 for me.....nver heard the Stones track before and never heard of Les Cactus let alone heard it. Great fun.
Many thanks for compiling this quiz, thoroughly enjoyed playing it and it brought back many memories of my youth. Got every question correct but that is not the point - am not into point scoring - it was just the sheer magic that in each question what a few bars of music triggered happy memories
Oh, I'm so glad to hear this! Thank you so much for stopping by and I'm super happy that this video brought you some good times and good memories!
Ok missed one.. Neither of us heard that cactus song before on Magic 828 in Cape Town.. Still was fun... South Africa checking you out....
Thank you so much for being here!! The Cactus song was a wink to our international audience. Not popular in English speaking countries, it was a hit across French speaking countries! A little left field for sure! Thanks for being here and thanks for sharing your love of music everyday!
Good selection. I answered them all correctly except for the French one.
Let me know how it goes! 70s, and we also have a 50's one now :)
I even got Jacques Dutronc. But I grew up in the 60’s with my ear glued to the radio.
My two fun facts on these-
Unchained Melody is called that because it was the theme for a film set in a Prison called "Unchained" The lyrics then make lots of sense with time going by slowly and wondering if you are still mine.
These Boots are Made for Walking was written by Lee Hazlewood intending to sing it himself but Nancy Sinatra told him it sounds wrong if a man sings it.

As a fellow commenter remarked, I was around when they were new; my brain is old enough to need more time to sort through everything for the answers. But they're in there.
Knew all but two of them. That was FAB!
Woohoo! Congrats and thanks for being here!
Only missed a few but these were all so familiar. My school days.
Didn't get the Les Cactus one, never heard it before? Very good though!
I got 7 right. I'm in my 50's now, but in my 20's and 30's I would have many more right. There were only about 2 or 3 I've never heard before.
All but Les Cactus. 40 years old. Love the oldies!
Yeah, it is definitely a curveball as it was a hit but not in the US! 🫶🏻 You did awesome!!
Got most of them. I'd never heard of the Cactus one.
You sneaked in a French 🇨🇵 hit. Great stuff.
This was great fun 🎉 And of course Les Cactus was my favourite one 😂🤣😂
Interesting quiz--I got most of them, but I admit I had to stop the video a couple of times to think for a moment. Wasn't sure of the Otis Redding song and I don't think I ever heard of the song by the French-sounding guy. Guess I qualify as an old geezer from the 1960's.
Are you kidding me? Anyone who was alive in the 60's and didn't get EVERY one should be really ASHAMED!!!!!!
My parents had very conservative musical taste so this was the only time I could listen uninterrupted so I am amazed I could remember as many as I did
Didn't know - and I don't think I ever heard - Les Cactus. The rest were very familiar.
I recognized them all, but only got both the title and artist right on 8 of them. Born in '69.
Too simple but great to drag back to mind..
Missed 2 - I recognized the opening to the Otis Redding tune, but thought it was the intro to a song from The Band. I also never heard of Jacques Dutronc or Les Cactus.
Same here.
Same here

I never even heard of the cactus song; was that ever played in America?
Done classic rock, 70's and now 60's, missed 2 on every one dammitt 🤣
haha, only like 10/20 def fun. i had a pretty narrow music genre back then. mostly Zappa.
Great Line up!
I got all but Johnny Cash and Cactus. Feel it was very US centric but still fun
Eighteen and a half. Never heard of Les Cactus, and confused the Ronettes with the Shirelles.
The sixties were much more Top 40 with a real mix, the emergence of FM in the seventies started to split the genres apart, so didn't do as well on the seventies quiz.
I did exactly that😣
16 right….ironically some of the songs I didn’t immediately recognize, I could spit out the artist no problem….missed 4 artists too.
Love the 60 70 MUSIC
Have you seen our 60s part 2, and 70s quizzes? More fun ahead! 🥰
Country gold!
Never hoof the cactus one at all, but apart from that it’s a good selection of 60’s songs
Missed 2 songs, and 5 artist. Never heard of Les Cactus.
Didn’t get ‘Les Cactus’! Frankly never heard of it or heard it before! Got all the rest (including naming the bands or solo artists! Sixties music was the best!
This song will definitely a curveball so he can consider yourself a winner! Such a prolific and inspiring decade for music indeed!
I got 19 out of the 20.
Only one was that cactus song never heard of it.
BTW I was born in 1960 iam a professional drummer played most of the songs in the mid 1970's at Disneyland in California.
Awesome!! Thanks for being here! 🤘
All good choices except for that Les guy! Never heard of him or that song!
It was a real curveball: A giant hit with French listeners!
hi, that was fun, got all but two, did not know the cactus one, well done
Awesome score! Yeah Cactus was very left field, as it was very popular in francophone countries, so a little ode to our more international followers ;) well done!!
what a wonderful era this was!!
Thanks, I enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for being here!
Anybody here young enuf to think of Quagmire's dad boppin' down the stairs when Nancy Sinatra came on? By the way, I'm 51, and missed 3. The 'cactus' one I've never even heard.
Never Heard of that cactus song or singer.but All the other songs I did
Strictly speaking I got eleven but there were three songs I knew the title but not the artist really enjoyed that thanks😁👏👏👏
Thank you Yvonne! If you want you can subscribe as new quizzes come out regularly! Thanks for being here :)
@@Musiquizzers just subscribed thanks😁
I've never heard of Les Cactus. Got the rest of them.
No No No I am not ready!
Who is playing that piano at the intro?.....hell I should know this!
As a late 40s living here in the Philippines, i can only guess 4 songs correctly but i'm familiar of only 5 out of 20 songs. House of the rising sun, wild thing, will you still love me tomorrow, unchained melody and hey jude.
Mabuhay!
What a great quiz…
Thank you so much! Did you try the part two? ✌🏻
If anyone doesn't have a perfect score on this then you did not grow up in the 60's, on the other hand you know what they say if you remember everything about the 60's then you weren't really there !
Lol. I even knew who some of the writers of the songs were, like Carole King and Bob Dylan. But Cactus???
Cactus was a left field one as it was super popular in French speaking countries but maybe not US or UK. A little wink to our international audience :)
First one is the Haemorrhoids song !!
This was fun!
My all time favorite songs
I got all but two maybe. Played a few of them in bands over the years.
Part of the problem is giving us the very beginning of a song when back in those days the DJs would talk over the beginning of songs.
100% learned from this and added diversity in the following quizzes! Thanks for the insightful feedback!
I scrolled through the comments just to see if anyone had mentioned that. Thank you, my fellow pedant!
I appreciate the passion that comes from being pedantic so THANK YOU for mentioning it!! ❤️❤️
All but the Cactus guy.
I recognized most, but as never a fan of Tamala Mowtown, couldn't name most of those, although I recognized the intros. "Les Cactus" by Jacques Dutronc. Where was that successful? I would guess France, but why not songs from other countries then?
The channel is Canadian. It's an easy bet the singer is from Quebec.
Son of a Preacherman sounded like Cypress Hill/ Hits From The Bong.
Love these! ❤
They are really fun to do and I'm so happy you're enjoying them! Thanks for being here! ✌🏻
As long as you're having fun ! :) And there is now a part 2 for 60's! Subscribe to get them on your homepage when you come on UA-cam :)
Remember all of them except the “Les Cactus”. Never heard of him
I got only 6 songs:
*Ring Of Fire,
*House of the rising sun,
*Wild Thing,
*Hey Jude,
*Will u still love me 2morrow,
*Unchained Melody,
16. One I never heard of. The Cactus song….
Consider it a 100% across the board then! Les Cactus is a cheeky French hit!
Can't believe I missed Otis Redding, but I never liked 1st. Hendrix song and A few I didn't even listen too when I was young, but I got most of them.
Hope you had fun and thanks for being here :)
Only les cactus and sneakily using the aretha franklin cover of natural woman got me.
Aretha Franklin sang the original version of this song in 1967, when Carole King composed it for her. King then performed that song herself in 1971! 😊 if you know of any earlier version of the song, I did not and the choice of Franklin was all in good faith :)
Fun.... missed 2.....
I missed 2. Now on to the 70's!
#2 was Hits from the Bong Man !
Got them except for the one I never heard of...something a cactus.
Easy. Got all of them except for Hey Jude, House of the Rising Sun, Sympathy for the Devil and A Day in the Life.

Just the French one never heard of it. But I'm from UK 🇬🇧
Fun quiz!!
Thank you and thanks for being here! ⭐
Wow. I am bad at titles. I could sing most of these, but not fast enough to get to the title line part of the lyrics. And two Beatles songs. I approve. (Even with the one stupid cactus song that none of us on here know).
A blatant attempt to get less cactus into the rock roll hall of fame!
I got 8 out of 20.
I'd like to hear the 70's songs.
We have a video for 70s! If you subscribe or click on our picture, you will see all of our videos, including 70s :)
These are pretty easy but FUN. Us boomers would appreciate the challenge of 50s Rock n Roll. Doing country or folk would be interesting too. You should have included some ABBA in your 70s video, Petula Clark in this 60's one.
Challenge accepted! Thanks for the recommendation! And please check 60s part 2 ;)
You just keep me hanging on
Les Cactus??!!?? Where, pray tell, was this popular!
All of the francophone countries, but yes it is a curve ball for sure!!
