Try this, If you quickly click the on-off button under the tv, this will bring up the source menu at the btm, Then click it again to scroll across to which ever hdmi you want. Then press and hold button to select. This method I use on quantum of the seas. No need to unplug and plug-in power
thank you, I'm going to try and figure this out. Hubby has terminal disease and requires a lot of rest time, so I do hang out in the cabin a bit with him sometimes. I get bored cuz the TV sux. I'll take my ipad, I know what hdmi cord is but not sure of what that white hdmi connector is.. off to search... Leaving for Uptopia soon so want to try and accomplish this. Thanks a bunch
On Utopia they should have the newer capabilities that Odyssey, Wonder and Icon have. You do not need to hook up directly to the TV. You can cast your device to the TV. I’ll try to do a video on this when on Icon next week.
@@CruisesRoomsReviews thanks, we leave on the Utopia for a B2B Monday Aug 12th, so we'll be gone, but thanks anyway. Going to watch your video again and figure out and hopefully we can get it to work, if not, not a big deal. :) thanks again
Don't need cables for Samsung phones...Samsung phones connect directly to Samsung TVs....I even changed the tv in a bar to a sporting event that I wanted to watch using my Samsung phone to Samsung TV
I'm not very familiar with the FireStick - but I thought those plug right in without an extension cord. Either way - you can bring an HDMI cable onboard - just not a power extension cord.
@@SigmaRho2922 Depends what you mean. If you want native streaming (casting), you can only do it on Odyssey, Icon, Wonder & Utopia. Any other ship you need to connect a device to an HDMI port on your room TV, if you can change the input. I’ve streamed this way on Grandeur, the oldest ship in the fleet.
Really depends what device you are hooking up. First thing you need is a standard HDMI cable. I was using an iPad, so I used a Lightning to HDMI converter that Apple makes. Other devices may have a USB-C port. A laptop may have an HDMI port….so no converter necessary.
Thank You Matt~! am in Oasis of the Seas right now and you made my day!
@@tommoon6174 Awesome! Enjoy your cruise!
Great topic Mat!!! I have been asked this many times but never figured it out!! Well done and congrats on crossing the magic 1,000 subscriber mark!!
Thanks Brandon! I give no guarantee that it works on all ships. All credit to Rebecca for fingering it out.

Nice…will give it a try!
Works
@@holyozone Thanks for confirming it still works!
Will this work on icon of the seas?

@@CruisesRoomsReviews Yes, I was wondering about this on the Icon. Let us know!

That’s awesome!
Hello, how did you do that? We have Galaxies
Only if they are Smart Samsung TV's
I was going to buy the adapter but noticed some people say I won’t be able to stream Netflix as it’s restricted. How did you get it to work? Thanks!
@@KrystleChapman-pw6kn Hi. Royals wifi doesn’t restrict it. I use a VPN on my iPad if I’m having location issues with a streaming service.
Great stuff! So you can’t bring an extension cord like with a fire stick?

does this same method work with a fire stick?
I would think so.
Any hdmi stuff works 😊
Your tablet/phone should be MHL (Mobil Hi Def Link) compatible, otherwise it wouldn't work.
The streaming of movies is not available on ships pre-oasis class.
