My word, this video would have been funny if I hadn’t experienced this in the most cruel way this Christmas just like that. It was so exhausting. People kept ordering past the delivery deadline without caring about my shop announcement (or policy) and because I was so exhausted of the customer service involved and cancelling orders “as they would not arrive in time” I deactivated ALL my christmas listings on the 13th, so the purchasing would finally stop. I didn’t want to risk more cancellations, angry customers because their item did not arrive, bad reviews or me getting a burn out. Crazy I know. I’m still recovering from Christmas. I started considering going back to my office job as looking at the numbers and effort involved, I feel that I’m only making Printify and Etsy rich, but not myself. Whoever thinks this is passive, ITS CERTAINLY NOT.
I totally understand…. I had about 1400 Christmas orders and the customer service aspect was overwhelming. Maybe try a higher ticket item where your cut per item is higher. I sell jewelry, acrylics and the $ kept me going.
I put my shop name on vacation mode on the 13th just to avoid late orders and bad reviews. I’m going to open it back up on Jan 1st.

I was so stressed with customer service and things going wrong (Monster Digital doing me dirty with wrong sizes, stained shirts, lost orders, out of stock issues, etc) I am struggling with whether or not I want to continue with Etsy honestly😢 I was so worried about bad reviews and disappointing people. I don't know if I am emotionally tough enough to be an Etsy shop owner 😭

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear you had a hard go of it! I can genuinely say that it is so WORTH IT! Once your shop scales of course you will have even more of it but you will also make a lot of money! It is also easier once you just except that sometimes someone will be unhappy and you will wind up with that bad review. Wishing you some smooth sailing this year!

No, you can’t have your order in 3 days. Etsy is NOT Amazon. 😑 Customer service this year had me super stressed. It felt like 24/7. I had anxiety everyday 😅 Last year was my first year and though I remember it being a little stressful it was nothing like this year with a much higher order volume. 😬 One of my biggest issues this year was the fact that usps and ups often didn’t scan packages so there were no tracking updates. The amount of people messaging me about that, getting shirts by impossible dates, wanting exchanges for different sizes so close to Christmas, or wondering why only one of two shirts was in their package had me wanting to pull my hair out. Add in all the copycats on my original best sellers (something I didn’t even have time or energy for). I felt so mental I barely added anything new to my shop. Hoping that isn’t too much of an issue with Valentines Day coming up 😬😬😬
Hi Shawna, love your video like always. Can you make a video talking about bad reviews? I had my first bad review and the customer new it was not my fault I talked to her several time to solve the problem but still she had to write a review 🥵

Girrrl, you’re preaching to the choir. I barely started my Etsy shop in November and I’m new to all this Q4 stuff so when I got a “Karen” type who ordered one of my ornaments then wanted it in 5 days or less which is ridiculous when it’s two weeks before Christmas. Needless to say there was a lot of back and forth with this annoying woman and I ended up refunding her the money and losing out but at that point, I didn’t care. I just wanted to be done with her! Now I know about the cancel button before they can start making the item. Will definitely be using it when I get customers like that. Thanks for your advice and talking about this important subject which a lot of UA-cams are not 👍🏾

I had a lady wanting me to change the neckline. I said I couldn't so then she wanted to change the scale of the design. Several scaling options later she was clearly very irritated by me! In the end I refused the sale because I could just tell something would go wrong. Next time I will not be rescaling anything! X

Crazy lady #1 left a 3 star review that said candle is small and shop sale is now way better than when she ordered. I reached out to her to say dimensions of candle are in listing and she replied....yeah I know I saw the measurements but I still thought it would be bigger. Huh? (And I figured out the difference in what she paid and the current sale price and it was $1.49).
Crazy lady #2 bought matching motorcycle shirts for her and her husband as a surprise for him. When they arrived he said honey this is a Harley and we have a Honda (listing was not specific, just said motorcycle). She wanted to exchange or get refund even though she acknowledged she knew my policy was no refunds or exchanges. I said I was sorry she made that error and offered to help her out by re-creating the design with a photo of their motorcycle and selling them to her at my cost. And what thanks do I get? A one star review.
WOW!!!! Both your stories... just wow! But you recreated the motorcycle design for her and you still wound up with a one star from her! You are a rock star for doing that Kathy!
@@shawnalynn2083 No I offered to recreate it and sell shirts at my cost (which meant I'd actually LOSE money because of my time recreating a custom design) - and she didn't even reply to my offer. Just responded by leaving the one star review. I reported it and either Etsy removed it or she did...not sure. I have to say stuff like this has me feeling soooooo stressed and ready to give up. I did get around 75-80 sales from Thanksgiving to Dec. 12th and I guess that isn't too bad for a shop that started in August....but it is getting hard to hang in there :(

I had some New Year’s 2024 shirts in my shop and somebody ordered and paid for two of them and then asked if I get it to them before the 30th so they could deliver it to the friend they were getting it for. I messaged them and explain to them that there’s no way they could get there by then and I refunded their money. And then I went ahead and deactivated the listing.

I sell crap that no one ordered. It was the best stress free Christmas ever. Thanks to the economy I was able to spend enough time with my wife and she really enjoyed yelling at me. It was like old times. Best no money Christmas ever. Yay Shawna...YAY!
My shop is super new and I was afraid of people ordering too late and then leaving a bad review so I put my shop in vacation mode on Dec 13th.
Looking forward to this one LOL. Should be entertaining for us, not so much for you. And yes, would love for you to go into more depth on your Christmas customers contacts. And maybe what you learned from it and what you will do differently in 2024 Q4.

A woman named Christine messaged me yesterday saying she has multiple aunts that want to buy one of my aunt themed sweatshirts. She asked for a bulk discount. I haven’t responded yet, is this person a scammer???
LOL Brittany! I don't think it is a scam! If I were you I would offer a little discount and see what happens!
Yes! Customer gave 3 star review with no explanation text. I reach out privately to the customer to ask what the perceived issue is and to please share a photo. No response from the customer. Our shop is new and small, messes with the overall shop score a bit. Convinced there is nothing wrong with the shirt.

I put an order in to an etsy shop back in the middle of November. Still wasnt shipped by december 15. I asked about it, she said it was shipped. No tracking. Asked me to be patient. Christmas came and went. Still no product. Fighting to get a refund. It was an ornament.

It seems to be a good idea to deactivate christmas listings once you cannot guarantee on time delivery anymore to avoid a lot of problems. Once the chriatmas rush is over you could reactivate it for random buyers throughout the year.
I have someone who bought Christmas wrapping paper last night and they aren't responding to my message. So idk if I should send it or not lol. Maybe she wants it for later
