Almost 30 years later, this core is still TOP TIER | Hammer 3-D Offset Assault Bowling Ball Review

- The 3-D Offset Hammer is a piece of bowling history. It was very first Asymmetric core reactive bowling ball, and bowlers couldn't wait to get it into their hands. Everywhere you looked during a league night, the lanes were filled with bright purple bowling balls, and they struck and struck and struck and struck...
Almost 30 years later, the 3-D Offset Hammer has made its return. The #PurpleBall came back a couple of years ago, followed by the Pearl version in the very successful 3-D Offset Attack, one of the very first balls to feature Brunswick's groundbreaking HK-22 base coverstock.
To start off 2025, the 3-D Offset line continues with the 3-D Offset Assault, with the same legendary core as the original surrounded by a Hybrid version of the HK-22 Cohesion cover that's on the Hammer Effect.
I'm expecting great things from this ball. Come join me as I take it for a spin and see what it can do!
The 3-D Offset Assault releases and will be available in your local pro shop on January 16, 2025.
Love watching your reviews Jeff, so informative/comprehensive. Also, the split view so helpful for watching the path to and through the pins.
Your enthusiasm for this piece was pretty obvious =). Hard not to be, that ball motion also looks godly to my eye. My poor wallet... thanks!
Thank you so much! And yes, they'll never make a 3-D Offset I won't want to at least try out :) I'm really hoping they continue using the core because the ball motion is the perfect middle ground between Symmetric and Asymmetric.
Good stuff! I don't have a hybrid in my arsenal and this looked like a contender. Thank you sir for another sweet review.
You're welcome and thank you, this ball is definitely one that can fill a spot in your bag if you don't have a hybrid yet!
great video Jeff!
@BowlingBuckosh Thank you, sir! Glad you liked it 😁
Great video with the right commentary and some good comparisons. I loved the first 3d offset remake, and see this in the future. Quick question, how would this compare to the Effect Tour?
How is this ball compared to the Track Theorem. Is this an upgrade, seems pretty close.
My guess is that this ball will be a bit more responsive off the dry than the Theorem because of the Cohesion cover, but I've been wondering the same thing as you. I might bust out my Theorem in league this week and throw it a couple shots in practice to compare them.
I have the the 3d offset Attack my fave go to ball and now I have a blue high rev 3d offset not tge purple one not sure what it is but love it as well and think ill have to get this one I love hyb
The blue one is the 3-D Offset Attack. It's a pearl version with a bit weaker cover than this new Assault. It's the one I throw in the video at the end of the ball comparisons.
Nice video. This ball and the pure envy is basically the same cover if not mistaken but how do they compare to each other?
The Pure Envy is going to be a bit sharper off the spot and straighten out more in the back due to the stronger core and higher Intermediate Differential. It may hook a little more overall , too, but that might be a bowler-to-bowler thing depending on who's throwing it and on what lane conditions.
That was a fresh house shot?? Would this be good a replacement to the widow 3.0?
@bigd8812 completely fresh, not one shot thrown on the lane (I warned up on the other lane).
It could be. It probably hooks a little less than the 3.0 overall and will likely go longer, but I feel the Assault will be more versatile.
Dat ball gone be in yo bag, RIGHT? 🤔
Gone be?
Already is. Not comin out.
🤣😂🤣
