- The University of Zululand Choir in South Africa performs "Halala" for a recording session in July of 2015.
This is a celebratory song for weddings, graduations, and parties. The dancing you see toward the end is from a traditional Zulu dance style.
Please enjoy the music and excuse the shaky single camera work.

Natalie Okioga I heard from my grandmothers aunt that I’m a direct descendant of the Zulu and my father told me I’m related to the Temne from Sierra Leone
My dream is to visit the lands of my ancestors including the Zululand

You gotta love being Zulu. I'm so proud to be Zulu 😍😍😍

South Africa, the home of sweet melodies. Much loves❤❤❤❤ from Cameroon 🇨🇲🇨🇲🇨🇲🇨🇲
I´m from México, where the music is an essential part of our people. but, this music comes from the deepest place of the soul.. Love this music.. is joyfull, so expressive.. music from the soul, totally.
There is something about this music... it is as though they are conquering the stars, just by singing. I think that African choral music truly is the most alive music in the world. It makes one want to live, to thrive, to shine like the sun. Close your eyes and listen.
I have ancestors who are the Zulu dating back hundreds of years from my grandmothers side
It makes me smile everyday and night
These humans are beautiful. Sometimes I can't get enough of you, Earth people.
I just faull in love for this great music of Africa...
From Senegal 😇🙏🏾

This is absolutely crazy! I don't know any of these people but their joy is so infectious, it makes me feel like they're all my cousins and I'm genuinely happy to see them and hear them.
Those fiiine African queens maaan. They beautiful.
As a UniZulu alumni 👩🎓, I’m here to tell you… there’s soooo much more where this came from ❤️
Much love from Greece ❤️
Now I’m from Trinidad and Tobago and I don’t have the slightest clue what they’re saying but my pores raised when I saw the passion in the dance and for some reason tears ran out my eyes by the end of the video. Love this
I cry everytime I hear this song. I feel like I miss a home that I was torn away from.
If you are having a shitty day watch this video especially the lady in the pink and navy stripes that smile and enjoyment will brighten any day.
This is amazing. I've listened to this at least 10 times in a row now. The song is intoxicating and every single member moves and sings so differently - it's just really fun to watch them. I'll be on the lookout for more...
They are truly talented.
Loved listening to and watching this. I wanted to be there among you all....loving to sing and dance with you
I've watched this over two hundred times and that girl who ran out at 1:57 with the traditional Zulu High stomp move gets me every time :)
Those *TOTALLY BAD ZULU BASSES* with that *amazing chest resonance* get to me every time! Simply *magnificent!* Much love from your African-American sister in the United States! :-)
Youre a Tswana tribe. Black South Africans are the Israelites. One day it will be revealed
@@trtkpt698 No they aren't. Only tribe from Southern Africa that has credibility to being part of the 10 lost tribes of Israel are the Lemba people.
@@malikelshabazz3192 Lemba are related to the Ashkenaz. Us Zulu people have no relatives in Europe, period!
Thank you so much Civ 6 for introducing us to so many cultures
Since I was child i grow found with sound African choir .. Beautiful voices though I don't understand the language but music has its language.. Love it ..
Im Ghanaian but I love South American music omg

In my church choir in the US growing up, we sang with our mouths. these beautiful people sing with their whole bodies. I think I would have liked this much more...

Yer you have to come visit us. If you do come go to a gumboot dance show
wow wow, this just makes me miss my hometown, empangeni, I am proud Zulu man
Your people's music is one of life's greatest joys! Be a proud Zulu man!
hi could you tell me if abatwe legends involve riding ants or is that made up by Europeans?
@@shereehardin5783 It was not made up by Europeans but by Africans. The Zulus have a BaTwa story but the funny thing is we, as Zulus, are part BaTwa or BaNdwa or baNdiya or BaZwa (I am a Zwane - Twa and Nwe = Gadi). Anyway, my parents grew up with those stories being told. Now our culture is dying, in favour of one-ism and democracy. More like demon-cracy!
¡Amazing! hugs, peace and love from México.
Got chills in the first fifteen seconds. Everyone seems so fucking PUMPED to be singing this. What a wonderful group and wonderful song.
It’s incredible how powerful their voices are
Oh my gosh thus makes me cry. I'm so jealous.. I wish I knew my culture the way they do. Much love from America
@@satura4113 Don't spread misinformation. There are many, many cultures here. Sadly due to history, OP's family could be from any part of Africa. I'm not trying to bring down your spirits. This is a huge part of black culture and culture in general. But not necessarily Zulu culture.
I meant OP might not be Zulu. Not that this isn't Zulu
@@satura4113 Calm down. I'm just stating facts. Don't erase Wes-Africa from all this. I know what bantu means. Don't try and teach me my own culture while insulting both it and me.
@@satura4113 Dude the overwhelming amount of slaves taken during the Transatlantic Slave Trade were from West Africa. The largest Bantu groups taken were the Congolese. If the OP is from the African diaspora he/she is most likely majority West African descent. The other guy (Cutsie pie I think) was pointing that out. Btw not all sub Saharan Africans are part of the 10 lost tribes of Israel. So far the only mostly verified are the Lemba people
@@satura4113 We are also Bantus from Kenya. Our languages and cultures are close. We are not Hebrew and will never be Hebrew.
San'bona maZulu amahle! ..... SO powerful and enjoyble.... blessings from col´ Germany !
Ughh god, Beatiful, that spine chilling choir is amazing
Shout out from Trinidad and Tobago... this is amazing!
I wish my university choir had nearly half as much fun as this lot while performing music. Unfortunately British people don't know how to have fun. Awesome tune and such an amazing performance!
much love from Tanzania, luv ya zulu land
you cant begin to comprehend this so long as you are using your eyes. only when you hit absolute rock bottom can you begin to understand the depths of pain of the violation of the soul... and then you can feel the perseverance in spite of all else
i have diesil in my veins you have music never stop singing
I hope in my next life I will be Zulu😁
Music flows in the veins especially tribal songs like this. This is with all African tribes.
OH MY GOD I CANT EXPRESS HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS SONG .THEY KILLED IT!.......SOUTH AFRICA IS SO BLESSED WITH BEAUTIFUL VOICES AND PEOPLE....IAM BORN 100% FROM THE BAHAMAS BUT I LOVE THEIR CULTURE AND MUSIC SO MUCH NOT TO MENTION THEIR DANCE MOVES....I WISH SOMEONE WOULD TEACH ME MORE SOMEDAY THOO...SIGH......GOOD JOB YOU GUYS ...WELL DONE.......WITH LOVE FROM (ZION).

Africans have the sweetest nature. They are so adorable because they have not been affected by western cultures and Black Americans ways and tendencies.

I also don't know it though I'm black but at least I can hear a bit. We so drawn to our mother tongues in South Africa. Im Tswana. Hope you get someone to teach you! I love this song soo much
As great as the music is, it's just a reflection of what's inside: Africans obviously haven't forgotten what it means to be human. They have A LOT more to teach us in the West than we could ever have to teach them!
God I love African music

I got goosebumps when they started singing all together🤭🥳 They sound so good.
Is there any word which describe the african shouting? I'm very interested in the spontaneous multi-shouting, which is quite complex and musical.
If this doesn't move you, you need to have your pulse checked. Bless the Lord for these fine young people!
