Yes, it definitely seemed that way. It also may have been the amount of water I used. I used medium for both so it may have been a little more water than needed for the Kenmore, which allowed it to turn over faster.
That’s because the Kenmore has five fins on the bottom of its agitator, opposed to the Maytag, which only has four. That extra fin makes a difference in the water turbulence in the tub.
I love this comparison! The Kenmore will clean better but the Maytag will rinse better. Kenmore also had a tendency to be generous with cycle options like soaks and pre washes, while the Maytag had a tendency to be simpler in design and a little more straight forward perhaps making it a little more user friendly. While the Maytag has a higher spin speed, the Kenmore has a better lint filter. The Kenmore may clean better but the Maytag will last longer. I often refer to them as the masculine vs the feminine in laundry. Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Although I'm not impressed with those color-snatching sheets for every mixed-wash scenario, they'd be appropriate if I was pressed for time by dumping all my laundry in a single load. I'm very partial to Maytag, so it gets my vote/support. The last time I may have touched a Kenmore washer was over 25 years ago, before our old 1970s Lady Kenmore portable gave out. The happy memories my family had with that one; I learned the basics of laundry with a Kenmore. However, my first w/d purchase was a 2008 Maytag Baravos👏🏾.
Towel loads are heavier and more water absorbing in the Maytag, Kenmore had a lighter mixed wash. The Maytag may have benefited by a bit higher water level.
Yeah, normally I probably would’ve loaded them a little differently. I wanted to do my best to make it a “fair” race, but the best thing to do would’ve made the loads identical.
Were you meaning to say A482 instead of A382 in the video title, or did I miss something important by accident? Figured I'd let you know just in case. Great video by the way!
Yes, thank you for letting me know! I guess I must’ve mistyped it. My dad has the A382 and I have the A482, so it should’ve been A482 instead. I will go through and change it!
It would be cool to actually have both Maytag machines side by side and do a race between the two of those machines to see if they have different cycle times between each other
I do intend to do a similar “wash race” type video between the maytag’s in the future. they probably won’t be able to be next to eachother but I could still do a race.
I understand that the black face Kenmores do a 4 minute drain instead of a 2 minute drain with the new larger tub in the Kenmore. They used to be a 2 minute drain. Good video though, it was enjoyable.
Kenmore vs Maytag Maytag - spin drain, longer spray rinse Kenmore - better turnover, the "Woo woo"s, "Grrrrrind-click-clunk" Winner? Depends on which machine you have the most nostalgia for. For me, hands down, it's the Kenmore. Which machine won the speed race? Watch the video lol.
LOL. Grrrrr click kulunk. My mom had a Whirlpool. Same noise. Of course back then, all the washers had their own sound. GE: RRRRRRR CLICK RUM RUM RUM RUM . Frigidaire: chug chug chug chug, and my personal favorite, The Westinghouse: shlup-cluck shlup-cluck shlup-cluck. Now they all sound pretty much the same. They all lost their individualallity, and their quality.
If you get the chance please do a full load with the Penta vane on high water level to see the real mettle of this agitator... The load can be any thing you wish...
Of course! I’ll see what I have that I can throw in there to make a relatively larger load. Rugs, bath towels, or bedding might make for an interesting test.
this was a very interesting comparison seeing two different old schools with the same wash action compare
Love the old school kenmores.
The Kenmore seems to have better turn over of the clothes.

I missed your Premiere, as I was busy with my Mother & my Care Worker & have forgotten all about it! 😧

@@DrummerboysWashersAndMore that sounds like a good idea

Can I make a request to see both of them on the Permanent Press - Max Time Cycle with Warm Wash Temperature & Max Water Level?
Kenmore vs Maytag
Maytag - spin drain, longer spray rinse
Kenmore - better turnover, the "Woo woo"s, "Grrrrrind-click-clunk"

The Maytag had a much heavier load with the towels and the Kenmore it was a mixed load so much easier to turnover than heavy towels.
Kenmore - neutral drain and clockwise spin
Maytag - counterclockwise spin-drain

@@DrummerboysWashersAndMore 👍
Put those two machines against a G.M. Frigidaire 1-18 Roller-Matic and see which machine cleans better.
Hopefully someday I could get my hands on something like the Unimatic or 1-18.
I wish you all the luck. Those machines are hard to find.
Anyone that knows how these two machines operate would know the Mattag would be the first one to finish due to the fact the Kenmore drains in neutral.

This would have been a great video but the play by play ruined it..
