  • In this Video I am showing step by step how to create the long version of my latest digital PDF Pattern - The T- shirt Tunic - It's a super minimalist yet sophisticated top/dress/kaftan with selected finishes. This time we are going to practice French seams, hems and most importantly the bias bound neckline with hand made bias tape!!
    I'm using 100% linen but the finishes can be applied to all sorts of base materials, especially cotton, rayon, viscose, taffeta, etc.
    All my patterns include multiple Pattern-hacks which give you plenty of easy pattern modification options, to further boost your skills and confidence. Sewing and drafting is not rocket science and with some practice everyone can get better over time!
    Start making your own clothes and start making better finishes for timeless new styles that you can wear for decades. Follow me here on UA-cam and my other social media accounts.
    I have been a fashion designer and fashion design lecturer/educator for more than 15 years and finally due to the recent breaking of the world I ind my self rearranging my own skills and applying them to this new future of tropical research .
    You can get the pdf pattern and ebook in my Etsy shop, All my patterns are hand drafted and digitised, both metric and imperial measurements are included as well as sizes xs -xxl. The illustrated ebook that accompanies the pattern is a beauty on its own. I quite frankly tried to push my illustrating skills to the next level to create the best illustrations and schematics ever. lots of love Tobias

    What a fantastic idea! The way you have your camera positioned so we can see you at work and learn easier. Your momma didn’t raise no dummy, that’s for sure. Thanks for your thoughtfulness and thinking about your viewers when putting your sewing video together. Well done!

      @@TobiasKonrath I really love the raglan variation but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to start chopping up the pattern! It's only paper, though, and I suppose I can make a muslin before committing to good linen!

      yes definitely go for a muslin first and try :)

    Hi Tobias, thanks for easy patterns with style... I have brought both tunic and lazy top patterns and look forward to more... Question how would you go lining the dress fronts and backs. A lot of the Linen is very transparent. I would love to use Lawn to make a lightweight shift. Being a larger lady big girls undies showing through is not a good look ha ha ha

      You can make make the t-shirt tunic fully lined ( just cut it twice) and it makes the neck opening finish really easy. You can remove the hem allowance at the sleeves and hem for the inner layer ✌️❤️

    I’m a new sewer, so I’m not sure if I understand - for the French seam, I see that you fingerpress it open, but when you turn the garment inside out to sew the seam on the other side, it looks like you pinch it all back together again. Why press it open in the first place? Or am I’m totally confused 🤣
    Btw, I love your videos and designs ❤

    • @TobiasKonrath
      @TobiasKonrath  Рік тому

      You’re totally right - it seems like a step too much but the first press ( open) makes it much easier to then flip it over and get a crisp edge!
