When I did improv I absolutely hated this game. Maybe 1 out of every 10 people you get out of the audience actually listens to the scene. The other 9 just make fart sounds, whistle or say "bang"
Ah yes, i remember that episode of Batman when ghosts haunted the bat cave and kept making all the electronics defunct! And also there was an old lady there, just off screen holding a microphone and not making a sound o,o
Mercifully Drew ended that game when he did because neither of those women made any sounds when it counted, lol... 😊 That shorter women's heart just wasn't into it from the get go...

The worse the sound effects are, the funnier Ryan and Colin are - that's the point of the skit. The other Sound Effects game is designed to be a balance of Ryan's skills and Colin's skills. This game is designed to show how brilliant they are at overcoming any obstacles to make a joke. Like when an audience member (for some reason) didn't move Ryan's head in a game of Moving People. Gave Ryan a chance to shine with multiple jokes about that audience member's inability to pick up on what Ryan actually wanted him to do.

There's a couple (only a couple) of episodes where Drew picked audience members who did pretty good sounds. They weren't nearly as funny as when Drew picked old ladies and goofy girls who went "Oooo" and made fart sounds. Isn't this the episode where the "Oooo" was recalled more than once later in the game by both Colin and Wayne? I think one was Hoedown.

I used to, too. Then I realized that with the way men communicate, we use a lot of sound effects and onomatopoeia. Couple that with the fact that many men like movies and games with a lot of action and effects as well as like to relay those stories to other men and you realize that men are just better at making soundeffects overall. There is one with a man and it's funny but his effects overall are less comedically out of the loop with the scene and while the girl he is with gets most of the laughs for nervous soundeffects.
As an added bonus: ua-cam.com/video/A_aC4e9ZXlo/v-deo.html if you watch this scene with two guys, they're both very good with soundeffects, especially compared to these two women, but notice how the performers have to try harder for a gag. Even the comments point out the irony of the game being better when the sound effects are worse, because when the sound effects are worse, the performers have to improv more.
Having watched many of these Sound Effects skits, seems Drew should have been better at picking audience members. For one, he never picks a man. Two, he shouldn't have picked any elderly women. Nothing against them, they just don't get it. Need to look for folks who might have some spark of creativity in them.
