    This is it. The FINAL BOSS. The last language on Duolingo. 36 different languages have been conquered at the speed of light, and now it'll be 37. I expect Hebrew to be a worthy opponent for this challenge, but my questline through Yiddish and Arabic might be enough to help me push through. Will this be the epic final battle we all crave for? Or will it be a walk through the park. Only God knows the answer....

      Gotta say, for the first time Hebrew learning your pronunciation is pretty on point! Also i almost died laughing on "the sticks" and the big confusion around the ּב and the ב. Usually you learn vowels (nikud, which comes in lines and dots) first before you learn to read the words, and here they just didn't use vowels at all... So, did really well for someone learning Hebrew by starting in the middle of it😅

    Growing up Jewish we always learn the phrase who is he and he is she first after the letters though LOL (הוא is he and היא is she!) But we also learned Hebrew with nekudot first which is essentially the vowels of Hebrew so stuff like ב (Vet or Bet/ Vais or Bais) is easier to understand because the B sound has a • in the middle and the V sound does not but it also gets far more complicated when you run into invisible letters!

    • @jccbm
      @jccbm  Рік тому +8

      LOL! Well, it's an intuitive and easy-to-remember trick for an English speaker, it just came naturally 🤣

    • @05bastille
      @05bastille Рік тому +6

      Yeah, this is why you learn Hebrew in stages. You start with learning the "crutches", the nikud, and then learn to read with those crutches and then, with time, you upgrade to magically recognise the words vowel sounds without the crutches! Its so simple! (Not)

    • @evilcowhead
      @evilcowhead Рік тому +2

      @05bastille right! LOL I had mandatory Hebrew classes in school for 12 years ( half my middle and high school classes were all in Hebrew) but my brain could never get past reading properly without nekudot and I cannot Translate much past the basics. Based on the school and education I went to, I have about a second graders understanding of Hebrew, but all of my friends that I grew up with know it as well as they do English! Ironically enough, though, I was a Hebrew teacher for a reform Sunday School (taught basics to k-3rd) for a bit

    Now that you have done all the duolingo languages I came across something that might interest you. Clongcraft is a minecraft server made by language/conlang nerds where they try to naturally develop a language in minecraft starting from just grunting at eachother with it eventually spinning off into dialects and child languages. With bans on creating educational material for the language outside of the game (until the end of the 'season' where they start a new language) or speaking any real languages inside the game. Would be interesting to see you hop on there and try to learn the language like they are some sort of uncontacted tribe.

    and apple (tapuach תפוח)
    are so similar cause orange is an abbreviation of gloden apple (tapuach zahav)

    the letters can be learnt way easier. it's just duolingo that makes it hard. when you start hebrew books and exercises have markings under and/or over the letters that indicate which vowel goes there or which type of the consonant it is. i don't understand how duolingo overlooked it. learning the letters literally took me one lesson in school. hebrew is also one of the easiest languages. the grammar is very primitive.

    • @jccbm
      @jccbm  Рік тому +1

      Some words further on in the video had the markers, so maybe they keep appearing when you advance

    • @malachifreedman3975
      @malachifreedman3975 8 місяців тому

      This is all true, the issue is, Duolingo is trying to teach you to speak/read/write the language as a native, and vowels (נקודות) are widely ignored in Israel. They are helpful when learning, but eventually, the language requires you to be able to figure it out. I think that’s why Duolingo usually avoids them, though that is just speculation.

      Everytime I scroll anywhere I see some post about the Iranian "attack"
      And it's stubid
      Only 1 person died, and he wasn't even a soldier , and he wasn't even a jew, he was a Palestinian
      Muslim man, Iran only shot missiles known as
      "un destructive missiles"
      Which are used for military training that only
      make sound
      And Iran only joined the war so it could say "we
      faught Israel" when it's actually just pebbles
      I am saying this for the idiots taking pride in that nothingness, and the other idiots crying at it
      happening
      It's all just a dramatic light show and act at the circus, this is basically the relationship between Iran and the Jewish occupation, they only pretend to be enemies, they are clowns in a circus putting on a show of fighting. They may hate each other but they all have a common goal, destroy all sunni muslim countries, that's why they play this stubid game of acting, the only reason they have a slight hate is because they are only fighting for power, so it's half hate and half circus shows

    As a native Hebrew speaker this is such a weird video for me because seeing someone struggle to pronounce is kinda funny. nevertheless, good video but about the dots aka nikud, although no native Hebrew speaker uses them, they are quite important. Because letters can sound the same like ח and כ in the words
    אוכל - eats
    חתול - cat
    They have the same sound but sometimes they don't sound the same. For example:
    כתב - wrote
    חזיר - pig
    They sound different so thus you kinda need nikud as a beginner. As you advance you need to get rid of it.
    Never saw your content before the yiddish and now the Hebrew. Btw yiddish is not very similar to Hebrew.
    I wrote too much. Good video 😅
