Steve Jablonsky really outdid himself with the score on this one. The action was pretty epic as well and seeing the bts for this movie, I don't care if it's a good or bad movie but that must have been a ton of fun to shoot and a really memorable experience for the actors and stunt people.

Then there's Prime, Einstein's Wrong, Infinite White, Forest Battle, Precious Cargo is just GOD DAMN STUNNING it's almost haunting, and Matrix of Leadership. Steve Jabalonsky did JUST A BANG UP JOB with the OST.
35:55 I never noticed Bumblebee do that move before. He transforms into his car form to dodge an attack, backs up over a ramp and then transforms back to keep fighting. It's neat to see them using their vehicle forms in combat like that.
Everyone says "ignore the plot" and then we see these emotional responses: the Sentinel twist, the autobot exile/explosion, when Bumblebee almost died... Just saying, for "plotless action movie" there was a lot of really good plot points. People hate on these movies for no good reason, same with F&F - yeah they're terrible but they're also amazing lol
Actually people annoyed with human in this movie. Nobody cares about the girl, nobody cares about military arguing with each other. We just want transformers movies, not sex and the city
@@boboboy8189 well they really missed one of the parts of Transformers that made the human conflict essential. These movies insist on giving the humans alien problems, but it should have focused on giving the transformers human problems. This, alongside the decepticon conflict would have helped us be attached to all of the autobots, not just optimus and bumblebee, and help us appreciate what the humans bring to the table. Take the first movie, where they're trying to hide in Sam's front yard, not understanding how to hide and barely managing to sneak around his parents. Imagine if we'd gotten more scenes like that, or similar. Imagine if the autobots struggled with traffic laws, human nature, and the like. There could be an analogy for war veteran immigrants, with some of them having ptsd. I always think back to the original animated movie where they were fishing.
I don't think the plot points are good at all, the action is good but gets tiresome and even some of the action is stupid and unenjoyable, I'm not trying to be a film snob when I say that either, I used to worship these movies thinking they were the best movies ever, I loved them more then everything, then I watched some of the top rated films in existence and I even watched more ridiculous action movies that are "turn your brain off" fun and I realized how unbelievably stupid these movies are, like it's too stupid, I still like the first and this one does have some great action scenes but the first half is tough to get through and the second film, 4th and 5th are all just terrible, Steve's music is good for the most part and I'll always love the Linkin Park songs attached to the films, Bumblebee I dont even put in the same league because its better then the rest of them by far, FF is the same to me as well, I love the first still for nostalgia and a decent story with okay action for the most part and I enjoy the 5th a lot too, thats dumb action done greatly, the 6th and 7th are good too for it being Paul's last films in the series but the rest are pretty terrible, I honestly can't with these series anymore haha
In my opinion, While there is an argument or be made for some of the plot points, a lot of them come out of nowhere and that’s the problem. Like the sentinel prime twist, yes it’s a twist and it’s sad to see ironhide die, but once you get past the emotional aspect, it’s so out of left field and not in a good way. Because we only had two scenes with sentinel prior, his resurrection, and that convo with prime at the mountain. And one of them is just exposition for the pillars. So sentinel is not developed that well as a character. Or even bumblebee almost getting killed, we don’t see him get beat down and pushed to that lowest point, he just was there with that scientist transformer who died after having two scenes in the movie, which is in the same boat of it being sad but also not really that emotional when you realize the character wasn’t much of character, just fodder
Sam’s intelligence is really underrated in some of these movies. When he asked Optimus what their plan was, he said “No HUMAN will ever know”. Optimus understood what Sam was warning and told him there was no plan. Whether it was a lie or the truth, Sam had to trust everything would work out

This is still one of my favorite Transformers movies. Always loved the story, the action scenes, the effects, Sentinel Prime, and the characters. Even some of the characters were improved.
I think this film would have worked perfectly as the wrap up to a trilogy. Megatron is now gone for good, cybertron is destroyed, and the autobots really recognize earth as being their new home. Sentinel was also the best villain in the films in my opinion, while he was twisted and ruthless, he wasn't evil for the sake of evil. He had a goal to preserve their species from extinction no matter the cost, even if it meant killing off another race.
In Dark of the Moon the action scenes & effects were much clearer, with less shaky cam, because it was filmed and released in 3D. Too much shaking around in 3D would probably cause headaches. Because of that it has some of the best action shots in the franchise.
Can we just appreciate how godly the music is in every Transformers movie? Particularly the first 3 imo, but all 5 have a solid score. Glad to see how invested Jen is in these movies though. They are the “turn off your brain” type but they do have heart too, sometimes at least.
I didn't like watching Transformers 5, but it has a track near the end called "We Have to Go" which is absolutely INCREDIBLE. Tbh, that and "Lockdown" from 4 are two of my favorite tracks and they don't even come from this 'saga'

I've always loved that "There is no plan" is almost an inverse Arrival to Earth. It's slower, there are more strings and a synthetic tone there, it goes into softer piano vs the strings into a triumphant horn. And it's a genius move on Jablonksy's part, to make this almost a funeral march like sound. Because this isn't a triumphant moment for anyone. Not for the governments of the world, not for Sam, not for the Autobots who are resorting to Deceptive behavior to make a point.
One of the coolest things about this movie is taking real life places and events and integrating them for its own lore. That and the entire Chicago sequence for the final hour is still one of the best looking action setpieces even now.
In my opinion this is what 4 and 5 lacked sam and family was such a big part and had lots of fun comedic moments don’t really see that with walberg and his cast
Exactly and these guys are complaining about the comedy, when comedy usually does it for people, like they act like folks can’t incorporate real life situations as well. I bet if this stuff happened in real life there would be a majority of people trying to still make these type of decisions in terms of getting the girl back and all that. At least in the first three movies they had that; while 4 and 5 didn’t.
This was slightly better than 2, at got pretty dark during the attack on Chicago when they were annihilating the humans. This also the first Transformers film to make a billion dollars at the time, making them the biggest franchise at the time, alongside Harry Potter. Carly (Played Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Jason Statham's girl and mother to his two kids, for like 12 years), is based on an actual character from the series like how Sam was, and yet Michaela felt more natural. Sentinel Prime being a turncoat was a legit surprise. In stories, Sentinel is usually a THE good dude, but is either apart of a storyline, dead, or in the 2007 Transformers Animated, a cocky rival to Optimus (the show is very funny, but very different). Funny enough about Alan Tudyk, a new show Transformers Earthspark has him voicing Optimus Prime. Leonard Nimoy is no stranger to Transformers either, he voiced Galvatron (The evolved Megatron) in the 80's movie... Oh yeah, he's in a way related to Michael Bay. Another detail, when Megatron shoots the Lincoln statue, it's a callback to a scene in the original show, where Megatron simply removes Lincoln's statue (carefully mind you) and sets in his seat.
Shia says "YOU UNDERSTAND?" in his dialog more times in this movie than all his other films. My friends and I take a shot every time he says "you understand?". I believe there's a scene in this movie where he says it 4 times in just 15 seconds. It's amazing.
This movie is my favourite film of all time. It’s no masterpiece but I somehow manage to love basically every aspect of this film. I think it is easily one of if not the best action film I have ever seen. Truly encapsulates my childhood and I have massive nostalgia for this film.
Sentinel Prime is voice by Leonard Nimoy, who also voiced Galvatron in the animated Transformers movie. For those who knew that, his casting was something of a hint that Sentinel Prime couldn't be trusted.
I got to say that it is great to see Jen being an empathetic person that can humanize fictional mechanical species. Expressing these emotions for fictional stories is what makes this channel stand out for the rest and makes me stoked when you and Holden have new uploads every week. Keep them coming!!
I think this is the best movie in the live action franchise and there's a lot to appreciate here, from them bringing in Sentinel's OG voice actor, to the moon coverup plotline, the Sentinel twist, the focus on Transformers action, and the tugging of heart strings for these characters we've come to know and enjoy watching... Sidenote, you could say that the OG Avengers took inspiration from this movie for the battle of New York since this came out 1yr before Avengers and the two films have very similar final battle set pieces

No, Avengers did not take inspiration from this film. The fact they’re similar is just a coincidence. There are multiple films that came out at the time that had also a similar climax. That movie was planned far in advance and they don’t wait for other films to get inspired from. That’s now how filmmaking works.
In my opinion the next one, Age of Extinction was the best. Mark is a better lead cast. Shia was too cringe and whatever drama happened with Megan Fox made recasting her feel so off. Shia is just magically dating a model now? He was a geeky social outcast in the first one. It's just not believable. If they did need to remove Megan's character, they should've made Shia stay single and maybe heartbroken that Mikayla broke it off or something. They could've introduced a new love interest that Shia could've met in this movie. But to have him just in this new relationship and all this clout and extravagance just seemed to unbelievable to me.

One thing I really admire about these movies is they know which characters are comedic and which ones aren't. Like even though the movies are insane and filled with jokes you don't see Optimus Prime cracking jokes as he's fighting. I think it's pretty crazy that Michael Bay understands that not all characters have to be cracking jokes but almost all of the directors the MCU hires doesn't understand that.
I was in Chicago for my 13th birthday when they were filming the final act of this film and got to watch some of the filming. It's crazy how these actors can stand in the streets for hours and record dozens or even hundreds of takes of the same 5 seconds of action over and over. I saw Shia LaBeouf swinging that pipe at Mcdreamy probably 80 times before I moved on to look at more of the set pieces. Seeing all the iconic flashy cars in places I was familiar with was super cool. The Wreckers were especially insane to see on the streets and I assumed that they would be Decepticons at a glance. I also had the opportunity to meet Shia and his agent while grabbing pizza right after I left Millenium Park the previous day. What a week that was. With that said, my favorite scene in this film is easily Sam attempting to tip off everyone that he was compromised and that the Decepticons were listening in on him. The level of desperation and loyalty that Shia conveyed was incredible.
Actually can’t wait for you guys to watch Bumblebee. I really found that movie to be shockingly good and very charming, especially with Jens love for him already. 1, 3 and Bumblebee are the best movies, but they definitely all provide good reactions!
For all the Transformers movies apart from Bumblebee and maybe the first one you simply have to acknowledge that its two hours of explosions, product placements and out of place shots of attractive women... Plot is a not even a secondary concern.
Dark Of The Moon is one of my favorite films in the franchise, I have a soft spot for this movie because it was the first transformers movie I saw in theaters and I still remember my 6 year old me enjoying every minute of it.

Here’s some facts I’ve learned about this film: - Shockwave was originally going to be the main villain of the film, but the role was given to Sentinel Prime - James Cameron influenced Michael Bay to shoot this movie in 3-D, which he was initially against - The scene with Sentinel Prime opening a spacebridge in Washington D.C. was originally going to be longer to have the Autobots fight the invading deceptions - The ending to this movie was originally gonna have Megatron survive and make peace with Optimus. I will never forget as a kid my family took a trip to chicago. Little did we know a huge area downtown was shut off and set up for filming dark of the moon I remember nobody having a clue what happened but from our dumb tourist brains we thought the giant destroyed bridge and area was a terrorist attack or something. Wasnt until that night we read. About the movie. One of the coolest things to see in person, so many practical things in the movie.
Age of Extinction is my favorite even though Rotten Tomatoes puts it at a 17%. The audience score is 50% though. It's my favorite because of the villain, Lockdown. He has the best theme song in my opinion.
Battles were the only thing i enjoyed in aoe,rest was pretty Bad and Imo Even CGI was pretty wonky compared to dotm. And holy shit the all new human Characters were fkin annoying.
The Last Knight is my favorite of the movies. 5 has the most intense fight scenes in the saga. 5 brings back Lennox, Simmons, & General Moreshower from the 1st 3 movies. Not to mention that 5 was filmed @ Hogwarts from the PHENOMENAL Harry Potter saga.

35:07 By far the best scene in the entire movie. The music, the visuals, the battle, Optimus killing at least 20 Decepticons at once, is just pure badassery. Goosebumps. 37:34 Also this scene in the books, it ended differently. After Megatron assists Optimus with killing Sentinel, he actually just leaves the place afterwards, he walks away after exchanging a final look at Optimus. And that marked the end of the TF movies. Until of course, Age of Extinction happened, which ruined alot of things.
for 37:34, apparently that is also the ending that they initially going to use because that will leave a clear window for another sequel, it was Michael Bay's decision to kill of every major Decepticons here in the third movie because he doesn't really want another sequel. Ultimately, because this movie made way more money than the previous 2 movies, a sequel is greenlit, and the studio basically told Bay that the 4th movie will happen with or without him. This is also why the 4th and 5th movie felt so disconnected from the rest of the franchise, and Bumblebee's origin story were scrapped and turned into a soft reboot for the franchise altogether, and giving the director's chair into someone else

It was fun having Leonard Nimoy return to the franchise, as he played a character in the very first Transformers movie. I think I read that the discussion started at a family picnic or something. Apparently Michael Bay and Leonard Nimoy are something like cousins through marriage. This movie pulls a lot of plot points from the first season of the G1 animation, such as transporting Cybertron into Earth's orbit and the Autobots being banished from Earth, so I guess this would make this the most direct adaptation of the source material Of the first three live action TF movies I did enjoy this one the most, but I agree with the criticism of Carly. It's pretty clear her character was originally Mikaela, and that Carly was just transplanted in with minimal effort to work her into the story
There was a comic book where Predators hunted Transformers, successfully of course. This group of transformers were so full of admiration that they became like them.
These movies are incredibly underrated Sure there is a lot of weird stuff in them but I am incredibly nostalgic for them Dark of the moon is my personal favourite of the 6 movies and is honestly a top 10 movie for me :)
46:22 In my opinion, this is the Transformers movie I most like to rewatch. The plot line is more heavily Cybertronic and action driven in nature, with historical fiction mixed into it. Yeah, you start to notice the science loosing touch with reality when the teleporting device is introduced, but the character interaction, action, drama and comedy is better than the last two for me. I rate it at a 7 (7.5 on a good day).
Fun fact, someone I used to work with at an Electrical company actually sat next to the actor who played Sams girlfriend in this film in maths class in school, she ended up taking up Drama class (acting class) as a GCSE (qualification) and moved to America
I agree 100% concerning “Moonfall”, almost empty when we watched in theaters but just plain fun kind of movie to watch, emmerich’s got that ‘end of the world’ disaster flick down just as Bay has got summertime popcorn flick, can’t help but enjoy
People always compare this movie to the Avengers, but they all forget that this movie actually came out a year before the Avengers, so maybe that movie was copying off this one. Think about it.
Production, filming and editing is a thing, while DOTM is at theaters The Avengers are probably at post filming stage meaning they cant copy it because theyre in the middle of DOTM release

The critiques on these movies so far has been interesting to me. I’ve now picked up on more with what y’all have brought up but it has also been a while since I’ve seen them myself. Jen’s reaction to the Sentinel betrayal and the rocket being blown up with the hero’s in it, and then their return was simply classic. Looking forward to the next two, I love the concept of the 4th one, but it was a little too long in my opinion. I am curious to see if y’all would be interested in doing the Godzilla ‘14 series. I grew up with the Toho stuff and have loved every one if the new installments more and more as they progress. Makes me feel like a kid again.

Ima have to let u know Holden that transformers 4(age of extinction=aoe) is more to the lore of Optimus and transformers 5 continues it but also adding sprinkles of plots
in the movie tie-in comics for all three movies, it's revealed that a decepticon scientist experimented on three seperate Autobots, Arcee, Elita 1 and Chromia, who were merged to create those Autobot twins. Elita was actually young Optimus's girlfriend. Two died in rotf. Elita survived. But in the tie-in comic that bridges the gap between 2 and 3, Shockwave arrives on Earth and murders Elita and a couple other Autobots. This is why Optimus is so full of hatred towards him in this movie. just a fun fact i thought you guys should know!
Ironhide's death was the one thing restraining me from watching DOTM. Because I really wanted him to be in the battle of Chicago he would've a lot of fun if he lived to fight with the other autobots. Everything else is perfect and has the best action out of all 6 transformers movies, except why did they have kill of Ironhide, he was literally my favorite autobot. Sometimes I even pretend that he lived by using my imagination.
I saw this in the cinema when it first came out & when they gratuitously showed Rosie walking up the stairs at the start of the movie you collectively heard every guy in the cinema go “ooooft” followed by every girlfriend in the cinema go “ugh” & tut at their boyfriends. It was hilarious.
I really loved this movie, I remember going into Best Buy over a decade ago and their entire TV section had the Transformers 3 Promo Running to showcase the screens. Whenever I think of movie magic, I think of the idea that CGI can allow creators to make any idea into a visual reality, and the effects from the Marvel films and Transformers franchise is a big reason on why I believe that. This film really does stand the test of time on visual and audio satisfaction. Plus, I did enjoy the story of this one. Had a great blend of action, comedy, and story telling scenes. Plus the opening battle of the ship chase on Cybertron, stunning. Great video!
I honestly adore this film. When this came out I was getting bullied at school because of liking the films , been a fan for 19 years nearly and these guys mean so much to me. Peter Cullen is my idol and I cried like a girl when the film ended (due to it was supposed to be the last one originally) this film certainly changed my life! I’d give it a 100% I really appreciate her personal connection with Bee, she’s a keeper bro .

@@DominicBandola24 I think the problem with 5 is they tried to incorporate too much storyline into 1 movie and they rehashed the humans vs transformer storyline from aoe. Also there was a lack of dinobots and lack of robot fight scenes compared to the other movies. The battles were mostly just robots shooting at the screen. Compare the battles in TLK and the battles in the other transformer movies and you will see they are subpar.

Interesting that the comment of the day mentioned Frank Welker voicing Megatron. While he was the original Megatron voice in a lot of the shows and games, the first 3 live action movies actually had Hugo Weaving's voice as the villain. Welker was still involved as other characters in the movies.

This movie had the most hype out of any of the movies I think. In 2010, There were UA-cam channels dedicated to news for the production and I subbed to all of them. Jen’s emotional reaction actually got me a little emotional while watching as well. It reminds me as a teenager watching this movie for the first time and having the same reaction at Sentinel’s betrayal and the Autobots leaving earth. Plus Steve Jablonsky’s score, Linkin Park’s “Iridescent”, and the amazing 3D made this an amazing experience.
Kinda shocked Holden didnt mention the significance of Leonard Nimoy voicing Sentinel Prime,,, but that may come after mentioning possibly viewing the 86 animated movie... however that might take Jen getting familiar with the animated show... and that's a whole childhood of material to get through

Then there's Prime, Einstein's Wrong, Infinite White, Forest Battle, Precious Cargo is just GOD DAMN STUNNING it's almost haunting, and Matrix of Leadership. Steve Jabalonsky did JUST A BANG UP JOB with the OST.

35:55 I never noticed Bumblebee do that move before. He transforms into his car form to dodge an attack, backs up over a ramp and then transforms back to keep fighting. It's neat to see them using their vehicle forms in combat like that.

If Jen's emotional attachment to Bumblebee is any indication, it's gonna be a wild ride when we get to his standalone film.
Everyone says "ignore the plot" and then we see these emotional responses: the Sentinel twist, the autobot exile/explosion, when Bumblebee almost died... Just saying, for "plotless action movie" there was a lot of really good plot points. People hate on these movies for no good reason, same with F&F - yeah they're terrible but they're also amazing lol
Well the large plot points are great, it's the fluff around them, building to them, that's the stuff that these movies have issues with.
Actually people annoyed with human in this movie. Nobody cares about the girl, nobody cares about military arguing with each other. We just want transformers movies, not sex and the city
@@boboboy8189 well they really missed one of the parts of Transformers that made the human conflict essential. These movies insist on giving the humans alien problems, but it should have focused on giving the transformers human problems. This, alongside the decepticon conflict would have helped us be attached to all of the autobots, not just optimus and bumblebee, and help us appreciate what the humans bring to the table. Take the first movie, where they're trying to hide in Sam's front yard, not understanding how to hide and barely managing to sneak around his parents. Imagine if we'd gotten more scenes like that, or similar. Imagine if the autobots struggled with traffic laws, human nature, and the like. There could be an analogy for war veteran immigrants, with some of them having ptsd. I always think back to the original animated movie where they were fishing.
I don't think the plot points are good at all, the action is good but gets tiresome and even some of the action is stupid and unenjoyable, I'm not trying to be a film snob when I say that either, I used to worship these movies thinking they were the best movies ever, I loved them more then everything, then I watched some of the top rated films in existence and I even watched more ridiculous action movies that are "turn your brain off" fun and I realized how unbelievably stupid these movies are, like it's too stupid, I still like the first and this one does have some great action scenes but the first half is tough to get through and the second film, 4th and 5th are all just terrible, Steve's music is good for the most part and I'll always love the Linkin Park songs attached to the films, Bumblebee I dont even put in the same league because its better then the rest of them by far, FF is the same to me as well, I love the first still for nostalgia and a decent story with okay action for the most part and I enjoy the 5th a lot too, thats dumb action done greatly, the 6th and 7th are good too for it being Paul's last films in the series but the rest are pretty terrible, I honestly can't with these series anymore haha
In my opinion, While there is an argument or be made for some of the plot points, a lot of them come out of nowhere and that’s the problem. Like the sentinel prime twist, yes it’s a twist and it’s sad to see ironhide die, but once you get past the emotional aspect, it’s so out of left field and not in a good way. Because we only had two scenes with sentinel prior, his resurrection, and that convo with prime at the mountain. And one of them is just exposition for the pillars. So sentinel is not developed that well as a character. Or even bumblebee almost getting killed, we don’t see him get beat down and pushed to that lowest point, he just was there with that scientist transformer who died after having two scenes in the movie, which is in the same boat of it being sad but also not really that emotional when you realize the character wasn’t much of character, just fodder
Sam’s intelligence is really underrated in some of these movies. When he asked Optimus what their plan was, he said “No HUMAN will ever know”. Optimus understood what Sam was warning and told him there was no plan. Whether it was a lie or the truth, Sam had to trust everything would work out

This is still one of my favorite Transformers movies. Always loved the story, the action scenes, the effects, Sentinel Prime, and the characters. Even some of the characters were improved.

I think this film would have worked perfectly as the wrap up to a trilogy. Megatron is now gone for good, cybertron is destroyed, and the autobots really recognize earth as being their new home.
Sentinel was also the best villain in the films in my opinion, while he was twisted and ruthless, he wasn't evil for the sake of evil. He had a goal to preserve their species from extinction no matter the cost, even if it meant killing off another race.

In Dark of the Moon the action scenes & effects were much clearer, with less shaky cam, because it was filmed and released in 3D. Too much shaking around in 3D would probably cause headaches. Because of that it has some of the best action shots in the franchise.

I didn't like watching Transformers 5, but it has a track near the end called "We Have to Go" which is absolutely INCREDIBLE.
Tbh, that and "Lockdown" from 4 are two of my favorite tracks and they don't even come from this 'saga'

I've always loved that "There is no plan" is almost an inverse Arrival to Earth. It's slower, there are more strings and a synthetic tone there, it goes into softer piano vs the strings into a triumphant horn. And it's a genius move on Jablonksy's part, to make this almost a funeral march like sound. Because this isn't a triumphant moment for anyone. Not for the governments of the world, not for Sam, not for the Autobots who are resorting to Deceptive behavior to make a point.
Leonard Nimoy did an amazing job voice acting in this, he was also the voice of Galvatron in the 1986 animated movie.

One of the coolest things about this movie is taking real life places and events and integrating them for its own lore. That and the entire Chicago sequence for the final hour is still one of the best looking action setpieces even now.

This was slightly better than 2, at got pretty dark during the attack on Chicago when they were annihilating the humans. This also the first Transformers film to make a billion dollars at the time, making them the biggest franchise at the time, alongside Harry Potter.
Carly (Played Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Jason Statham's girl and mother to his two kids, for like 12 years), is based on an actual character from the series like how Sam was, and yet Michaela felt more natural.
Sentinel Prime being a turncoat was a legit surprise. In stories, Sentinel is usually a THE good dude, but is either apart of a storyline, dead, or in the 2007 Transformers Animated, a cocky rival to Optimus (the show is very funny, but very different).
Funny enough about Alan Tudyk, a new show Transformers Earthspark has him voicing Optimus Prime. Leonard Nimoy is no stranger to Transformers either, he voiced Galvatron (The evolved Megatron) in the 80's movie... Oh yeah, he's in a way related to Michael Bay.
Another detail, when Megatron shoots the Lincoln statue, it's a callback to a scene in the original show, where Megatron simply removes Lincoln's statue (carefully mind you) and sets in his seat.
“In the first movie, Optimus was sweet as pie!”

My friends and I take a shot every time he says "you understand?". I believe there's a scene in this movie where he says it 4 times in just 15 seconds. It's amazing.
This movie is my favourite film of all time. It’s no masterpiece but I somehow manage to love basically every aspect of this film. I think it is easily one of if not the best action film I have ever seen. Truly encapsulates my childhood and I have massive nostalgia for this film.

Sentinel Prime is voice by Leonard Nimoy, who also voiced Galvatron in the animated Transformers movie. For those who knew that, his casting was something of a hint that Sentinel Prime couldn't be trusted.
I got to say that it is great to see Jen being an empathetic person that can humanize fictional mechanical species. Expressing these emotions for fictional stories is what makes this channel stand out for the rest and makes me stoked when you and Holden have new uploads every week. Keep them coming!!
I think this is the best movie in the live action franchise and there's a lot to appreciate here, from them bringing in Sentinel's OG voice actor, to the moon coverup plotline, the Sentinel twist, the focus on Transformers action, and the tugging of heart strings for these characters we've come to know and enjoy watching...
Sidenote, you could say that the OG Avengers took inspiration from this movie for the battle of New York since this came out 1yr before Avengers and the two films have very similar final battle set pieces

No, Avengers did not take inspiration from this film. The fact they’re similar is just a coincidence. There are multiple films that came out at the time that had also a similar climax. That movie was planned far in advance and they don’t wait for other films to get inspired from. That’s now how filmmaking works.
In my opinion the next one, Age of Extinction was the best. Mark is a better lead cast. Shia was too cringe and whatever drama happened with Megan Fox made recasting her feel so off. Shia is just magically dating a model now? He was a geeky social outcast in the first one. It's just not believable. If they did need to remove Megan's character, they should've made Shia stay single and maybe heartbroken that Mikayla broke it off or something. They could've introduced a new love interest that Shia could've met in this movie. But to have him just in this new relationship and all this clout and extravagance just seemed to unbelievable to me.
Ya'll should totally watch *The Transformers: The Movie* after the live action films.

One thing I really admire about these movies is they know which characters are comedic and which ones aren't. Like even though the movies are insane and filled with jokes you don't see Optimus Prime cracking jokes as he's fighting. I think it's pretty crazy that Michael Bay understands that not all characters have to be cracking jokes but almost all of the directors the MCU hires doesn't understand that.

I was in Chicago for my 13th birthday when they were filming the final act of this film and got to watch some of the filming. It's crazy how these actors can stand in the streets for hours and record dozens or even hundreds of takes of the same 5 seconds of action over and over. I saw Shia LaBeouf swinging that pipe at Mcdreamy probably 80 times before I moved on to look at more of the set pieces. Seeing all the iconic flashy cars in places I was familiar with was super cool. The Wreckers were especially insane to see on the streets and I assumed that they would be Decepticons at a glance. I also had the opportunity to meet Shia and his agent while grabbing pizza right after I left Millenium Park the previous day. What a week that was. With that said, my favorite scene in this film is easily Sam attempting to tip off everyone that he was compromised and that the Decepticons were listening in on him. The level of desperation and loyalty that Shia conveyed was incredible.
Actually can’t wait for you guys to watch Bumblebee. I really found that movie to be shockingly good and very charming, especially with Jens love for him already. 1, 3 and Bumblebee are the best movies, but they definitely all provide good reactions!

Dark Of The Moon is one of my favorite films in the franchise, I have a soft spot for this movie because it was the first transformers movie I saw in theaters and I still remember my 6 year old me enjoying every minute of it.

Dark of the Moon is definitely my favorite of the Sam Witwicky trilogy. the 2007 film has a special place in my heart but i loved DOTM so much. The action, the robots, just everything was so cool, especially when I watched in theaters in 3D

- Shockwave was originally going to be the main villain of the film, but the role was given to Sentinel Prime
- James Cameron influenced Michael Bay to shoot this movie in 3-D, which he was initially against
- The scene with Sentinel Prime opening a spacebridge in Washington D.C. was originally going to be longer to have the Autobots fight the invading deceptions
- The ending to this movie was originally gonna have Megatron survive and make peace with Optimus. But spoilers leaked out and Bay was forced to change the ending

I will never forget as a kid my family took a trip to chicago. Little did we know a huge area downtown was shut off and set up for filming dark of the moon

Age of Extinction is my favorite even though Rotten Tomatoes puts it at a 17%. The audience score is 50% though. It's my favorite because of the villain, Lockdown. He has the best theme song in my opinion.
Battles were the only thing i enjoyed in aoe,rest was pretty Bad and Imo Even CGI was pretty wonky compared to dotm.
And holy shit the all new human Characters were fkin annoying.
The Last Knight is my favorite of the movies. 5 has the most intense fight scenes in the saga. 5 brings back Lennox, Simmons, & General Moreshower from the 1st 3 movies. Not to mention that 5 was filmed @ Hogwarts from the PHENOMENAL Harry Potter saga.

This movie is fucking awesome. I also love how the transformers and humans fight against slavery together. While we don't offer much help at all it's still beautiful to see.
This is my favourite Transformers movie. So much action. Watching it in 3D in the cinema was a treat, particularly the final hour. Leonard Nimoy is fantastic as Sentinel Prime.

35:07 By far the best scene in the entire movie. The music, the visuals, the battle, Optimus killing at least 20 Decepticons at once, is just pure badassery. Goosebumps.
37:34 Also this scene in the books, it ended differently. After Megatron assists Optimus with killing Sentinel, he actually just leaves the place afterwards, he walks away after exchanging a final look at Optimus. And that marked the end of the TF movies. Until of course, Age of Extinction happened, which ruined alot of things.
for 37:34, apparently that is also the ending that they initially going to use because that will leave a clear window for another sequel, it was Michael Bay's decision to kill of every major Decepticons here in the third movie because he doesn't really want another sequel. Ultimately, because this movie made way more money than the previous 2 movies, a sequel is greenlit, and the studio basically told Bay that the 4th movie will happen with or without him. This is also why the 4th and 5th movie felt so disconnected from the rest of the franchise, and Bumblebee's origin story were scrapped and turned into a soft reboot for the franchise altogether, and giving the director's chair into someone else

It was fun having Leonard Nimoy return to the franchise, as he played a character in the very first Transformers movie. I think I read that the discussion started at a family picnic or something. Apparently Michael Bay and Leonard Nimoy are something like cousins through marriage.
This movie pulls a lot of plot points from the first season of the G1 animation, such as transporting Cybertron into Earth's orbit and the Autobots being banished from Earth, so I guess this would make this the most direct adaptation of the source material
Of the first three live action TF movies I did enjoy this one the most, but I agree with the criticism of Carly. It's pretty clear her character was originally Mikaela, and that Carly was just transplanted in with minimal effort to work her into the story
There was a comic book where Predators hunted Transformers, successfully of course. This group of transformers were so full of admiration that they became like them.

46:22 In my opinion, this is the Transformers movie I most like to rewatch. The plot line is more heavily Cybertronic and action driven in nature, with historical fiction mixed into it. Yeah, you start to notice the science loosing touch with reality when the teleporting device is introduced, but the character interaction, action, drama and comedy is better than the last two for me. I rate it at a 7 (7.5 on a good day).
Fun fact, someone I used to work with at an Electrical company actually sat next to the actor who played Sams girlfriend in this film in maths class in school, she ended up taking up Drama class (acting class) as a GCSE (qualification) and moved to America
This is my favorite Transformers movie. People forget that this was shot in 3D and was absolutely incredible in IMAX 3D. I loved it.

People always compare this movie to the Avengers, but they all forget that this movie actually came out a year before the Avengers, so maybe that movie was copying off this one. Think about it.
Production, filming and editing is a thing, while DOTM is at theaters The Avengers are probably at post filming stage meaning they cant copy it because theyre in the middle of DOTM release

The critiques on these movies so far has been interesting to me. I’ve now picked up on more with what y’all have brought up but it has also been a while since I’ve seen them myself. Jen’s reaction to the Sentinel betrayal and the rocket being blown up with the hero’s in it, and then their return was simply classic.
Looking forward to the next two, I love the concept of the 4th one, but it was a little too long in my opinion.
I am curious to see if y’all would be interested in doing the Godzilla ‘14 series. I grew up with the Toho stuff and have loved every one if the new installments more and more as they progress. Makes me feel like a kid again.

in the movie tie-in comics for all three movies, it's revealed that a decepticon scientist experimented on three seperate Autobots, Arcee, Elita 1 and Chromia, who were merged to create those Autobot twins. Elita was actually young Optimus's girlfriend. Two died in rotf. Elita survived. But in the tie-in comic that bridges the gap between 2 and 3, Shockwave arrives on Earth and murders Elita and a couple other Autobots. This is why Optimus is so full of hatred towards him in this movie. just a fun fact i thought you guys should know!
Ironhide's death was the one thing restraining me from watching DOTM. Because I really wanted him to be in the battle of Chicago he would've a lot of fun if he lived to fight with the other autobots. Everything else is perfect and has the best action out of all 6 transformers movies, except why did they have kill of Ironhide, he was literally my favorite autobot. Sometimes I even pretend that he lived by using my imagination.

I saw this in the cinema when it first came out & when they gratuitously showed Rosie walking up the stairs at the start of the movie you collectively heard every guy in the cinema go “ooooft” followed by every girlfriend in the cinema go “ugh” & tut at their boyfriends. It was hilarious.
I really loved this movie, I remember going into Best Buy over a decade ago and their entire TV section had the Transformers 3 Promo Running to showcase the screens. Whenever I think of movie magic, I think of the idea that CGI can allow creators to make any idea into a visual reality, and the effects from the Marvel films and Transformers franchise is a big reason on why I believe that. This film really does stand the test of time on visual and audio satisfaction. Plus, I did enjoy the story of this one. Had a great blend of action, comedy, and story telling scenes. Plus the opening battle of the ship chase on Cybertron, stunning. Great video!
The next movie with Mark Walberg is my favorite. The villain is badass

I honestly adore this film. When this came out I was getting bullied at school because of liking the films , been a fan for 19 years nearly and these guys mean so much to me. Peter Cullen is my idol and I cried like a girl when the film ended (due to it was supposed to be the last one originally) this film certainly changed my life! I’d give it a 100% I really appreciate her personal connection with Bee, she’s a keeper bro .

Really enjoyed your guys' reaction. To me Dark of the Moon is probably my favorite film out of the 5. But I do love all of them. The first one probably is the better movie and nostalgic wise. I give Dark of The Moon a 9.5/10 I love it. I'm really curious on what you both will think of 4 and 5. Those are where they really start to downfall badly. Even tho I like them. @@DominicBandola24 I think the problem with 5 is they tried to incorporate too much storyline into 1 movie and they rehashed the humans vs transformer storyline from aoe. Also there was a lack of dinobots and lack of robot fight scenes compared to the other movies. The battles were mostly just robots shooting at the screen. Compare the battles in TLK and the battles in the other transformer movies and you will see they are subpar.

Interesting that the comment of the day mentioned Frank Welker voicing Megatron. While he was the original Megatron voice in a lot of the shows and games, the first 3 live action movies actually had Hugo Weaving's voice as the villain. Welker was still involved as other characters in the movies.

When Optimus said that, the entire IMAX theater was applauding & cheering all around me.
This movie had the most hype out of any of the movies I think. In 2010, There were UA-cam channels dedicated to news for the production and I subbed to all of them. Jen’s emotional reaction actually got me a little emotional while watching as well. It reminds me as a teenager watching this movie for the first time and having the same reaction at Sentinel’s betrayal and the Autobots leaving earth. Plus Steve Jablonsky’s score, Linkin Park’s “Iridescent”, and the amazing 3D made this an amazing experience.
Kinda shocked Holden didnt mention the significance of Leonard Nimoy voicing Sentinel Prime,,, but that may come after mentioning possibly viewing the 86 animated movie... however that might take Jen getting familiar with the animated show... and that's a whole childhood of material to get through
