I got a 87 YJ put the 258 I installed a DUI distributor I remove the coil the distributor and the engine control module I wired straight 12 volt when the key on to the red and to the green I put the tach wire that was on my coil no spark?? Acts like I have a drain any thoughts I will say that I started this whole project because I lost spark and I figured it was just a bad distributor pick up but it's doing the exact same thing. With the ignition switch on the steering column have anything to do with why I don't have spark

Hey Joe great tutorial. Which make and model is that battery disconnect switch on that YJ? Been looking for one like that. Thanks

Not really sure to be honest... Kinda looks like something you would expect to see on a boat.

Joe maybe I missed something but what happened with the fuel issue draining from the carb back to the tank? This seems to be an issue with all of the YJ's. We installed a weber 36/32 replacing the OEM carb, runs much better but still have a long crank time like this one. The mechanical fuel pumps take for ever to get the fuel back to the carb bowl. Any suggestions other than switching to EFI ($1k price tag) :) Videos are great, thanks! ~Ryan

I ended up installing a check valve in the fuel line leading to the carb and that seemed to help. Time will tell how long it lasts. This vehicle is not driven or even started very often - like once every several months, so really hard to draw any conclusion in this case.

I believe they have two different parts for the automatic transmission and the manual transmission. I just ordered the one that RockAuto said was for the manual transmission
