- Apologies for the mosquitos flying in front of the camera & the noisy birds in the background, the joys of filming in nature!
Over the past few weeks we have spent many days on the tools turning this ex-mini bus into a 4WD camper. We're finally finished and ready to show you around our newest tiny home on wheels. We're so stoked with how this build came up, the layout & details came together so well & gives the van such a spacious feel. We hope you love it as much as we do.

I have picked up my hiace commuter today and will be looking back at this video for at least 150 times for reference, legendary guys
I kept pressing pause to see if the bird noise was outside or in the video 😂😂😂 g'day from the southwest of Western Australia!
Simple, well thought out, elegant and well finished. I’ve been watching these builds for years (literally) from other channels like Humble Road and this is exactly what I am looking to do. Really well done guys. Credit to you both. Mike
Thanks for that! Glad you like it! :)
Fabulous build for such a small van. Excellent use of space, and you haven't sacrificed style or comfort. Great job
This build is so clean and neat very simple. Have an idea working with my van in the future. White interior makes it bright inside. Stay safe guys.
Thank you very much!
Good effort doing all that in 14days! Looks great and definitely an awesome layout. If you keep this van it'll be awesome to see how it handles the rough stuff 😄
We love your build so much we’ve decided to to our Commuter exactly the same!! Thanks for all the follow up videos explaining everything! Just awesome guys!!
Awesome job. The blackbutt ply is cool. I've never seen it before. 👍👍
woodworking n woody gesture is so good looking 😍so clean design ♥️loved the minimal looking layout 👍 Regards. ❤️
You both have done a very neat job. IMO the Hiace Commuter and the van are the most reliable van to converting and adding a higher roof will make them the best all around .
I converted one, and it was awesome.
Perfect setup ! Ticks all the boxes. Economical, auto, 4wd, cheap rego, lots of room and comfortable. I see so many $100,000 + gas gussler tourers that use roof top tents or swags. Sounds great in theory, until you cop a weeks worth of shit weather. Good times.
Wow. Amazing. Great job!
Lovely build, well done :)
Yeah i really like this one compared to the one you posted 11 months ago. The spaciousness seems to be pretty necessary!
Wow that's a lot of work in 2 weeks. Great job
Really nice and clean👍
Beautiful finishes, well done!
Wonderful, simply wonderful!
Very neat but I need a van I can stand up in at 6 feet tall, think I'll have to get a Sprinter van.. being crouched all the time would kill my back.
Love these builds. This one is brilliant. I'd be real interested to see what you can do with one if you get one of those roof tent/canopies that you set up for sleeping. Not sure what the cons would be though. But if it works, it'd give so many more options for how you configure the rear of the van where the bed would usually go. Perhaps it could be configured more for home office, or personal interest like playing musical instruments, etc. The options are endless.
Love it !!
amazing guys, fantastic works..
Thanks a lot!
nice job! enjoy the adventure!
Great van, very effective layout.
Beautiful build!❤ The toilet though needs another space. In a HiAce of the 2nd type I nearly crashed doing only 100 km/hr, starting the left oriented highway-exit, due to enginering of the frontaxl. Never again. Hope you enjoy and stay safe. Well done.
Well done guys
Such a sick van! This is exactly the sort of thing I want to own someday. Would you be able to touch on or inbox me about how you go about importing a vehicle from japan? Is it about beating the overpriced Australian market or is it about securing the right van with low kms?
congrats on the van again! you should do a travel vlog in it!
Thanks so much! Japanese imports are great cars, they really take care of their vehicles over there. They do the factory fitted 4X4 over there too.
We will definitely have some travel vlogs coming soon, not in this van but in our Troopy 🙊
Really ❤ this build. What was cost of materials (approx) for the fit out ?
Good job ♥️♥️
Thank you! 😁
Nice job mason and sarah … i like the white cladding and blackbutt futniture…do you do fit outs for other people?Ian
Hey Guys, congrats on a great job, amazing you produced something so stunning in a relatively short period. Impressive. You mentioned you got the van from Japan - did you organise that process and buy from a company/organistion in Japan or did you work with a local business to manage that process? If you did work direct, can you share details for the organisation you used in Japan? There are many and it's tough to know who can be trusted, etc. Also, would you be willing to share the cost of the van? Many thanks again. Cheers. Gabriel.
Congratulations on completing everything within just 14 days! The layout looks fantastic. However, I am curious about how you intend to secure all of the materials, belongings, and other items while driving, as I have not seen any objects tied down yet. Could you please advise on this matter? Additionally, would it be possible to obtain the layout plan and cost? If you could also provide the names of the items used, it would be helpful for sourcing. Thank you in advance!
Hello, Thank you
Looks awesome, I'm just not sure about the comfort level of the bed. Do you feel the gap between the mattress parts much?
that's a great build! What happened to the other van?
Nice build
Awesome build! Can you stand up inside this size hiace? What height are you guys? ❤
Hey we just bought the exact same van! What did you guys do for grey water tank in this layout? Is it under the sink? If so how do you empty it?
That looks like an awesome build where did you get the adjustable table from
Keren&simple 🚎😍👍
This is absolutely awesome you guys are so talented! Do you guys sell any vans at all? or do jobs where people can pay you to do up their vans?
I love your reno’s. Which layout do you prefer, fixed bed or dinette/ bed as I’m looking to do a van and I can’t decide which is the better way to go?
Love the video! Thanks so much for sharing. Curious why you have gone for the Redarc 1240D over the 1225D given your Battery is only 100ah? Still getting our head around the electrical side of things so curious to know your workings. 🔋
It is fantastic, Do you have a floor plat and measurements of parts you have used and the budget, Thanks❤❤❤❤
Hope you make a video as well when your awning is set up open
This is unreal! Where do you buy your van/how do you get it imported from Japan?
Following
Hello...do you have plans and dimensions for your Toyota Hiace van layout along with the parts you purchased and prices?
Hi guys! What was the high of your pull out kitchen and your sink counter top?
Subscribed (the 1000th)! 🔔 Liked, shared and fav-added.
Thanks heaps you legend!
Hey did the van come with the decal on the side? Or did you buy it and put it on? If so, where did you buy it from?
Nice build guys - really enjoyed your video. I have exact same van and have put in a NZ 'Vapartment' kitset with a simple pulley bed - that tucks the bed away during the day. could be an idea for your next one aye! cheers Paul K
Thats a clever idea! Will have to keep it in mind. So glad to hear you enjoyed the video 🤗
awesome build. I am 6ft2. would i be able to stand in it?
Great job! Wishing you all the best from Russia.
Great vid. Whats the foil board prone or wingding?
Wardrove Corner Looks so sharp is there any other solution?
Thats an Awesome built. How much was the SLWB 4x4? and Is it a japanese direct import? Cheers.
Serious question, is it a pain to reach over to work at the sink?
Hi there, can you please share the type of fan that is? The one that is at the end of the bed! Thank you
Hello , Where did you finally find you Toyota Hiace Commuter Camper Van
finished product looks great. I'm just a little confused with the bed and cabinet layout. Correct me if I'm wrong. It appears you have made some changes but failed to mention
How do you find the renogy DC to DC / mppt charger, any issues with it at all?
Great video guys! it's so helpful seeing van builds based in Australia! I was just wondering, where do you guys fill up your water tanks? are there specific water tasks around the country made for that?
Hi guys, sorry if someone has asked this question before, but did you import these vans yourself or purchase through a dealer? Cheers
I am thinking about the same conversion, what was the total cost of this + how many hours you put in?
How much would the conversion of cost?
Fantastic looking build 👌. How do you go about rolling that awning back up as it's so high.
Thank you! Its not too bad, can stand on the step of the van if needed 🙂
LOVE THIS, where did you buy the van from??
they said japan 0:45 so you have to to have freight costs wouldnt be cheap id imagine
What website did U buy the van from???
You literally have my dream car
Great build. How do you find cutting the white laminated ply with the track saw? Is there very much chipping of the white surface? Just debating if a track saw is worth investing in for my fit out.
Thank you! Have absolute no issues with chipping if you’re using a good sharp blade that’s made for the material 👍
What was the cost of the build?
Is ot awkward to walk around in? It doesn't seem high enough to have a kitchen like that?
Did you import the van from Japan.
.
Hi guys, nice build. Can you please reply to estimate costs of this build so that we all can have an idea of costs??? Thanks
How much it cost you to costumize
Hi, did you sell the 4x4 Toyota hi ace, is your business to do up campers ?
Thanks
❤️❤️❤️
what's the dimensions of the bedding storage?
great
Hi, please can you send me the measure water level link or a clear picture for it , thanks
Could you please upload video of actual build process would be keen to follow and build according to your build would be much appreciated 😊
Well done 👍 Happee travels 💋✨ 🚐
Thank you!
Muito linda parabéns.
So where do you put your clothes? It looks nice but not a great use of actual space that you really need if you live on the road.
Assalamu Alaikum, you have done a great job and it has impressed me a lot. May Allah bless you
You put the toilet beside the fridge.
Sharp of wood cabinets would cause dangerous for people
Zero privacy between the cabin & the back...
Does she have to nasally say “ummmm” after every sentence?
Wow definitely not a full-time not to mention you can't stand up in it. So I guess it's back to a damn Dodge Sprinter or Ford Transit. When is the day going to come when these Engineers pay attention to the market.?
And I’m the lucky owner of this van 🚐 ❤
Good job guys,, my husband watch your 1st video from old van 🚐 to get some good idea,, hope to meet you if you come and visit Tassie!! Call in to Zane’s bikes and bitz Devonport
Thank you so much! We do have plans to head over to Tassie quite soon actually! So excited to explore the state 😍
