With a regular cup, you store it somewhere most likely in the kitchen until you use it or have it in the sink with dirty dishes or the dish washer.
With this invention, it serves a purpose even if it's just being stored somewhere. And that's to be a clock.

I feel like it's unnecessary and actually can be counterproductive. When people check the time after waking up in the middle of the night it can cause anxiety and impact your ability to fall back asleep.
