I was there! Up until 2003 there was a core group of 5 mates who drove to Cockle bay from the central coast pretty much every Friday night for 4 years. We were always up on the mezzanine/balcony except for when I would slip away for a bit of funky stuff upstairs at Cargo, Kate Monroe was ahead of her time. By 2am Saturday I would leave the club and jog over to the convenience store at Pyrmont for bags of snakes, raspberries and strawberries and cream lollies. Good times!!! So when I saw the sign advertising Rewind at Sublime I knew I had to go. Called up all my mates who used to go to Sublime but sadly only one of the old crew was keen so I went and bought a ten pack, (I hadn't taken ecstasy for more than a decade) and drove to Sydney. By the time we got there we were both heavily affected but feeling great. During the next 6 hours or so we danced our asses off (while frequently being asked, how old are you dude?) When I replied that I was 45 these kids were shocked that someone my age would be sweating it out on the Voodoo dancefloor, jaw shaking and eyes that were all pupil. Towards the end of the night we were approached by several people much closer to our own age and asked if we used to be at Sublime around 2000? Were we always up on the mezzanine floor? And remarkably, one couple asked if I always had bags of lollies in my pocket and did I have an orange puffy vest? Turn out we had hung out with several people who had turned up for Rewind, and cherished the great times had there almost 2 decades ago. We need another night like that ASAP. Great beats, great venue and great people
Ha ha, everyone is either 1. on the pingers going hard (with sore tendons) knowing they have a nice hotel room to go back and crash with their spouse, or 2. doing it sober as they have to take their kids to sports training in 5 hours lol. Good times though......
I was always sober ! And I have a mp3 with some of these .. back then not many people recorded videos... I think It was a better at atmosphere because of it
