I was honestly underwhelmed or I came in with the wrong expectations. I can tell that he can go deeper but instead he focused too long on teaching ethics. As Africans, we are born with Ubuntu. It doesn’t need to be taught because it’s ingrained in our lives. Ethics and Ubuntu are our daily bread. Other groups need to be formally taught ethics and how to be human. There’s a reason why we are called abantu and the others are not. So with a primarily indigenous African audience, it makes no sense to speak at length about principles, values, morals and ethics. That’s boring, we know that. Talk about the mechanics of having those visions, values and morals in action - that would have been a lot more exciting for me. I know that I’m sitting here watching a video for free so it’s spoilt of me to make such demands but I’m just voicing what’s in my mind
And I feel that it’s a duty to voice my thoughts as a young person. Feedback helps. Teaching things that people were raised on will alienate the youth from this message - maybe this talk Wasn’t tailored towards the youth. I don’t know but the outcome is that the message won’t land with the youth - I say that as a young man who’s serious about being a leader and building highly functional long-lasting institutions
