The one where Archer becomes a Mum and doesn't actually change that much.... in fact, he's just as insane and crazy as always. PLUS this episode is pure filler
Reminds me of Prometheus, why take off your helmet in an alien environment, even if the air is breathable? If the crew of Enterprise found LV-426 they'd be hatching dozens of chestbursters in no time.
And Phlox would see no problem with that, even after the chestbursters were born. "It's a natural thing - we cannot let this species die out, nature wants it to exist!"
Nope, can't happen, because Reed is totally and without a doubt not gay (or bi)! Fun fact: It's speculated that Reed wrote farewell letters to ALL his previous girlfriends in "Shuttlepod One" because fans speculated he might be gay and the producers wanted to show that he definitly wasn't ... Enterprise: No homos to be found - that's our promise 😄
After EXTINCTION, you'd think they'd have been super cautious when anyone on an away team was exposed to anything. Did I just say EXTINCTION? I also meant IMPULSE. How many times a season can main cast members go nuts?
Back in the days when UA-cam was still the wild west he was the leading authority on star trek. When one of his videos dropped it was an event for Trek fans. But UA-cam started banning or removing his videos (not sure) so he left UA-cam and lost a massive fanbase. He should have more subs and views but I think UA-cam has his channel buried. I typed in star trek dozens of times a few months ago his channel never came up once
Studio executives - "This Star Trek crap is terrific - the franchise that just keeps on giving. So guys, you know we've greenlit a new sequel, prequel, borgquel - what new ideas or proposals do you have?", Writers - "Eh, sorry?", Executives - "New ideas. Character development. Plot advancement and the rest of that shit", Writer - "No-one told us we'd have to do THAT!", Executives - "Fine. We'll just lob a few extra million dollars at it - in the meantime you lot just keep recirculating tired old story arcs, create new aliens that take offence if inadvertently offered a ham sandwich or something - no wait - that's vegans - to hell with it, do it anyway, just make every episode as boring as possible - no wait - that's Voyager - to hell with it, do it anyway just making sure to get T'Pols titties out every so often - they've got Seven of Nine, we've got Two of Two. Should be a sure-fire success......". Yawn.
While I don't think it's intended, in an odd way this feels like a commentary on the original incarnation of Archer right before "Damage" and Manny Coto's efforts in season 4 finally improved his characterization. In Hatchery, he's a self-righteous, bad-tempered nutjob lashing out at anyone questioning his orders and stubbornly obsessed with an agenda and plan that puts the ship in danger. Give him a few more rants about Vulcans, and this basically could be your standard episode in season 1 or 2 without even needing the neuro-toxins. The same kind of behavior that the show strained to make seem correct or at least understandable then is presented here as blatantly off-putting, harmful and a sign that the captain needs to be neutralized for the good of Enterprise. Again, while likely not deliberate, it's an episode that ends up being one of the last gasps of Duchess Archer, and it fittingly ends as that incarnation always should have: with a crew member blasting him with a phaser to put him down.
This episode is a prime example of terrible execution of a great idea. The idea is sound...but I can think of about 100 ways it could've been done better. They tried to do the message that "these are sapient beings, even though we are technically at war with them, these are innocent infants that have done nothing to us, so we should save them if we can, it could go a long way toward future peace". And that's a great message, but the implementation of that message was so lousy. There was way too much unecessary conflict. Leave them with temporary power, and an automatic beacon that will broadcast a distress signal after they leave.
So they had the brains to wear protective space suits, but the second the the air is breathable, off come the helmets. Because breathable air is the only concern with protective suits. Are we sure Porthos wasn’t met to be the captain and Archer the ship’s pet? It couldn’t make decision making much worse.
I swear Archer must be the exact fetish of someone important at Star Fleet Academy. Him sleeping with someone important is the only explanation I can think of for him being in a command position.
@@mikegates8993 Either Starfleet actually thinks Archer does a good job; they recognize his incompetence and put him in such an important position anyway (politics, sex, whatever); or they recognize his shortcomings and he's somehow still the best they have access to. None of these options make Starfleet look good. Or there's the Doylist explanation which is just that the writers didn't recognize what a screwup they made Archer, which made _Enterprise_ look bad and led to its eventual cancellation.
@@boobah5643 I think Archer was so pitiful Starfleet Command decided he needed this command for his ego. Not the best decision, but hey, nobody said Archer was the only incompetent person in Earth's Starfleet ...
The Federation was always terrible at removing Captains who were compromised - Kirk refused to let McCoy check him out multiple times, Picard refused to let Crusher check him out too. It's just "Oh the Captain's gone mad again, what can you do?" And it's not like they didn't have protocols for removing a compromised Captain, it's that the compromised Captain always just overrode or straight up ignored them and everyone was perfectly ok with these protocols being not worth the paper they were written on!
The more I see of this show, the more I question how Archer got command of a ship meant to explore unknown regions with alien races Earth has never met before, let alone was given a mission as important as the one he's in charge of this season. Is this just straight up nepotism or am I missing something? Because even if we believe that the Enterprise is the only ship fit for the mission (which lends credibility to Linkara's joke about Star Fleet only having 2 ships active at any given time), how is there no one that is better suited to this mission then him in what I assume is even this early in the timeline a multi-star system nation like Earth?
If you ever watch a channel called Lorerunner, he has an interesting theory on this. Long story short, Archer was a political appointment to thumb Earth's nose at Vulcan...without seeming too.
Lol I really hated this one. It was like there was no alternative to save freakin alien children besides self-sacrifice, so instead both the writers and the crew are vindicated in finding the captain unfit for duty. No food or beacon provided, even after the kids mostly hatch. And not even Phlox or the sanctimonious, experienced 63yo T’Pol sided with his position. My least favorite ep of Trek period; at least many of the other stinkers are entertaining.
@@lordmontymord8701 Oh, it's stupid. Imagine if in Transformers the Movie, the Autobots were arrested for showing aggression towards Unicron by an alliance of Sailor Moon & the Sailor Scouts and Oprah, who decide to talk it out with him, and not only convince Unicron to say "sorry" for all the planets he destroyed, but prove that their way is superior; f**** all the ppl who died. Well, I guess a simpler comparison would be if the Star Trek TOS episode "the Doomsday Machine" was a Voyager episode, instead; it's that stupid! Here, I thought the Orville was bad because of its Simp protagonist!
@@derekbates4316 I don't even want to imagine that ... Well Archer is pretty dumb, arrogant and has anger management issues in season 1 and 2 ... this here is like a destilled version of his previous incarnation.
Yeah, Threshold had some really bad science concepts, but at least it showed the people in the show believing in it. Here Hayes and the other MACOs just look like a bunch of idiots for not realizing how crazy Archer is. "The Captain ordered us to steer the ship into the nearest star, but he's the Captain and we have to obey!"
After Archer got sprayed and started acting even stranger, Phlox should have quartined him. Phlox failing to be a good Doctor YET AGAIN
After Phlox examined Archer for the second time someone should have asked "Does anyone here think we should trust Phlox' expertise?"
"Why change a winning formula?", indeed. "Winning" is definitely the first word that comes to mind when I think of _Enterprise._

Good Luck on the restoration, Chuck.
Can you reupload the Tuvix episode? It one of few I've never seen. Must see psycho Janeway
To be fair, a giant amoeba attack has some precedence, or at least it will by TOS
I was just about to say that per TOS you really can't rule out a giant amoeba.
Voyager had a gigantic virus. Not quite amoeba, but still.
Why does Hayes' uniform look like he's spent the afternoon defending his last chip (umm.. _french fry_ ) from seagulls on the esplanade?
I noticed that too, I was trying to remember if enterprise had personal energy shields
It's Space Camo. You know, to make you less visible against the background of... uh... hull metal?
I've always thought it looked like that, too.
The episode where compassion is an illness. If only the goop had been a red herring.
love your videos

Shades of Kirk in 'Obsession'?
The episode Home with Archer being so full of self-loathing and hatred may have come a little too late, but hey it's at least something.
