Once the hinge screw gets loose, it causes the door to sag and not operate correctly. In this video I will teach you the "golf tee hack" which fixes most problems.

* I forgot to mention that you should allow the glue to dry first before moving on. 👌
Pretty awesome! Would something like this be used on a window frame when installing blinds? I noticed that there were some extra holes made by the builders. Bit, now it's close to impossible to keep the screws screwed in. Greatly appreciate any advice.
Hello! If your window frame is wood, then yes, should work great. 👍
@@TrainingHandsAcademy great! Here's a silly question. How would I know if it is wood?
@@saiyanneo469 That's a great question! I would try to compare it to other wood surfaces around your house. Then if possible, and if it can be covered up, try to drill into it or something like that to see if wood chips show up. Hope that helps.
When I can't find tees, I use a bunch of tooth picks in the same manner. Great video.
Great to know this alternative, thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks man, it worked.
Love this video wife wanted me to learn how to fix a door instead it’s about goof
I've also used longer screws to hit the 2x4 behind it for a stronger hold.
Great tip... that works great too! Thanks David.
What’s the longest screws you’ve had to use? I’m having trouble with front door, tried 3” screws and still can’t find wood back there, it’s really odd.
@Austin Ray depends on how the door is installed and the age of the house too. Lots of builder years ago cut corners big time and if your door had to be shimmed a lot you might need longer screws
Had to fix up a bedroom that used to belong to my over-emotional sister. Everything from doors that were splintered behind the hingeplate, to carpeting ripped up and burned. it's been a serious project but slowly but surely I am closing in on finishing this project and transforming an old room to a brand new one
Buying a box of golf tee's as i write this comment, thanks.
Awesome fix, Thank you for your help.
Glad to help
Thanks! Worked like a charm.
Glad it helped!
Omg that was wonderful
can also use chop stocks, or make them smaller
totally!
I've used a sliver of shim in a similar manner. I typically have shims, and never have tees. I've used dowel as well.
I've done the same thing... works just fine.
Thank you this worked well
You're welcome!
My problem is the door itself. The wood is split where you screw the hinge into it. Is there a fix for this without having to buy a whole new door?
Will this also word on the door ,or just the door frame?
@Training Hands Academy Thank you so much for sharing this video. Would you recommend using wood filler at all for the same job? In my case, I'm trying to patch the hole but also address some cracks that formed on the frame around the hinge.
I would use wood glue on all cracks first, and then if you need to follow up because you need to paint, use the wood filler.
Nice!
Will this also work on door , or just the door frame?
It should work on a the door too
Can you use regular glue?
regular wood glue, yes
Hello I am a recent follower and a happy homeowner with an issue that you don’t have covered yet. Could you please do a video with a broken jam? I have a front screen door there’s pulled away with the wind and I have to replace the wood I kind a got an idea but if you could help out that would be great thanks
Hi Kathy, thank you for the follow! That might be hard for me to find, but I'll do what I can for you. Is there anything else you need help with?
I have a shed door I change the swing on but its warped I need a lock for the bottom left corner what do you suggest
@@kathyblum3218 Without seeing it, I would think a 6 Inch Barrel Bolt Lock would work well.
You can also put match sticks inside and break them off.
That works too!
Do you coat all the sticks with glue?
What if I don't have a golf tee?
A thin piece of wood works too
