  • Messing around with different mounts for the bixpy motor so I don't have to take the mirage drive out
    Used
3 foot section of 1-1/4 pvc
    1 elbow fitting
    2 T fittings
    1 end plug flat top
2 conduit clamps, I needed for my rod the 3/4 inch and put two wing nuts so I can unscrew and screw by hand to adjust on the go
The gorilla duck tape make a huge difference both into the rod holder so its tight and under the clamps so it doesn't move without too much tightening
All is glued with PVC cement

I use the front storage compartment on my outback’s, for bixby battery. Cable long enough, for removing and installing cassette. And strapping down the front hatch with control cable exiting doesn’t damage cable and keeps kayak water tite

Thank you that's a good option, I just don't want to do the plug unplug thing anymore. The side mount I can run the motor at lower speed to assist while using the drive at the same time and when I turn the motor off I have immediate access to the drive.

I love my Bixpy. I have a Hoodoo Impulse 120, and since I love my fin drive. I made a DIY Bracket that holds my Bixpy battery. And I can unplug it and use my spare Bixpy battery. I run mine off the Vibe Gravity rudder. Love the Orange Hobie's. My kayak color is called radiant citrus orange, with grey deck pads on the deck. And she moves about 3.8 mph with the rudder Setup. 😎 🎣 🌊

Hey, yea its nice to have the bixpy and know you can cover lots of miles on the water or for days when you get lazy.
You have a better rudder on yours and mounting the bixpy there is ideal, I wish I had that option but the new outback rudder is horrible in many aspects.

From all the mounts I have used both the drive mount or the rear mount option I like this the best. Its easy to transfer from kayak to kayak if you have someone with you and needs it or just leave at home and there is no extra stuff on the kayak.

@@naskofilms4077 do you think that the motor on the side can pull the kayak to left? also, the steering was smooth on your test?

@@usermiamiusa Yes the steering was the same like when using the pedals. The nose of motor you have to angle a bit toward the kayak. You can figure that our on the water, don't tighten the nuts too much so you can angle it and adjust as needed. Bring a wrench with you so you can tighten when you figure out the angle
