Christian is right. Without Frank Herbert’s Dune, there would be no Starwars. It’s a fact. There’s a documentary out there called Jodorowsky’s Dune. He was a director who did a hella ton of foot work to try to get a Dune movie made based on Frank Herbert’s book. This was well before Starwars. Anyway, his hard work ended up moot for him, but a blessing for other projects including Alien! He brought together artists of all kinds and with their concepts, ground breaking sci-fi movies we know today were born! So yes, Christian is right! Btw Joao, Dune was first published in 1965. It’s been around for a good while!

Christian should watch the original Dune it’s quite good . Also watch the 99-00 series of Dune and Children of Dune . And read all the books.
But in his defence SW does take inspiration from Dune but not as much as it takes from Tolkien’s LOTR which George Lucas actually wanted to adapt but couldn’t get the rights . And the Jedi light sabers are inspired by the Gondolin Blades ( such as Sting , Orchrist and Glaumdring) that glow in the presence of orcs .
But also takes a lot from Asimov’s books . Which is why many see the current series of Foundation and the movies of Dune as similar. However , personally for me while Foundation and Dune are epic , the SW franchise is sleep inducing .
Ofc , to each their own.

Christian, if you watch David Lynch’s Dune. Take it with a grain of salt. It’s trash! It’s so bad it shouldn’t be allowed to be called Dune. The story is SO FAR off from the Frank Herbert’s Dune it’s shameful. 💩
