  • An over the shoulder Danelectro Pro style build.
    Build over the year on/off with pandemic waves.
    Necks: Pacific Teak, natural finish
    Fretboard: Merbau
    Body: Hardboard and Pine (like the original release Pro) finished in colour and low sheen clear.
    Lipstick pickups
    A few muck ups due to substitute parts when I couldn’t get what I designed for. Will make an amendment video in the future showing more.

    I really liked the bed liner idea instead of regular edge banding.

    The Lumberjack
    Jackyl
    Composed: Jesse James Dupree
    I was born in the backwoods
    Of a two-bit nowhere town
    Fathered up some rock 'n' roll (baby)
    So you mothers could boogie down
    I ain't whistling dixie
    No I'm a rebel with a groove
    All around the world the ygo 'round and 'round
    When they dig on my new stainless steel sound Oh yeah
    I'm said a lumberjack baby
    And I'm gonna cut you down to size
    I'm a lumberjack baby
    And you're the one that gets my prize
    And when you hear my motor running
    You know I surely I suerly a be coppin' a rise
    Oh! So I'm gonna crank it up and cut down is it
    I'm a lumberjack now baby
    I'm a lumberjack now baby
    I'm a lumberjack now baby
    I'm a lumberjack now baby
    But I ain't jacked my lumber baby
    Since my chainsaw you
    Whether ya like it or whether you don't woo
    That's the way we like it

    Haha the intonation sounds a bit off at the end there and perhaps you should have used a vinyl strip for the white sides but all in all great job.

    • @MikeHawkey
      @MikeHawkey  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, new strings and sub par playing attempt! (and a bit more time on bridge setup) Vinyl stripe would have been more original/traditional - thought they don’t have the best track record of staying permanent. Really I just wanted to try an idea though. Thanks for watching!

    • @MikeHawkey
      @MikeHawkey  2 місяці тому +1

      Now there is an idea!... just need to acquire a dog! 😅. Building tends to win over learning to play - no illusions of musical stardom here haha (though I really should learn a few licks). Thanks for the nice comments!

    14:14 Hey what have you used for this pickguard? I tried to search for the material used on the original Danelectros guitars, but I couldn't find anything. On UA-cam I've seen a video of a "replica" build, where the builder used masonite for the pickguard as well.
    I'm pretty curious about this

    • @MikeHawkey
      @MikeHawkey  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi. My pick guards on these builds was a 3mm plywood. I wasn’t going for exact replica in my two. Not seen masonite thinner than 5mm in my neck of the woods - but it would work well - though give it a protective clear coat of something just for longevity. Thanks for dropping by & good luck!

      @MikeHawkey  6 місяців тому

      @@mel_163 cant recall brand offhand, but both colour tins of spray were hardware store type, a couple of coats, we sanded down a little, left longer to dry and then water based satin clear poly finish.

    Did you spray an orange primer for the green one?

    • @MikeHawkey
      @MikeHawkey  5 місяців тому

      I cant recall now if im honest. Possible I used for base sanding coat followed by grey over - i may have used whatever I had at home. However- if asked I would say use grey for all light colours.
