  • “When should I start doing pelvic floor physical therapy exercises during pregnancy and postpartum (especially after having a C-section like I did)?!🤔
    The short answer…IT DEPENDS!
When did I start? The same day I had surgery. Yes, I started implementing education to protect my surgery site such as splinting, log roll technique, breathing, bracing, standing at edge of bed, sitting at edge of bed, walking to the bathroom, etc.✅
There are a variety of factors that you just can’t control during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum…(like an emergency c-section)
So it is important to focus on all the things you can control like EXERCISE! It’s important to prepare mentally, and physically for whatever comes your way. That’s why I recommend patients see or talk with a pelvic floor PT at least once during pregnancy and again postpartum!❤️
I was 6 weeks pp here but that doesn’t mean you need to be jumping rope! We all will recover at a different rate depending on what you did during pregnancy, complications, medical history, etc!⬇️
I have been doing breathing for my belly and pelvic floor everyday as well as stretching, strengthening, and cardio at least 5-15 min daily!✅
Even in crazy days where I only get 5 minutes to myself or am exhausted from lack of sleep, I always do DIAPHRAGMATIC BREATHING!🔥
I talk a lot about prep during pregnancy & postpartum healing in my Pregnancy Prep & Postpartum Recovery Online Program🔥
I even added information about my personal recovery and personalized home exercise PDFs to show you all what I have been doing to recover!✅
I am also back to doing ALL the exercises from The Belly Whisperer Method online program!
P.S. If it’s been years since you had kids but you want to start strengthening, stretching, and protecting your belly and pelvic floor then I recommend checking out The Belly Whisperer Method!🔥🔥🔥
And remember it takes YEARS to heal postpartum even if you can start doing more activities again so don’t rush the process, just do what you can to help prevent injuries and keep you feeling good!❤️
Focus on feeling good first. Nourish your body with sleep, food, and exercise🙌

Also, being pregnant is super *ucking uncomfortable. This kind of action during pregnancy isn’t something everyone can physically or mentally do. Personally I wish I had known more about it during pregnancy, but I was let down by everyone - go figure women’s health isn’t a concern to the very professionals treating them. Anyway, I’m glad this person is so fit even 6 weeks later, but a lot of us piss ourselves jumping like that. I don’t think her medical doctor would approve considering she had a c section.

Healing fully does usually have to be an intentional choice. PT is usually necessary to regain old abilities and comfort in your body. Some do it gradually over time and that’s okay too. Just take care of your body and love on it. It is unlikely for most women to “bounce back” quickly and should not be expected. Even if you do everything “right”, every woman’s body is different. Just have grace on yourself during this time and also know you are worthy of putting the work in to truly heal.

I had an unexpected c section at 33 weeks and the recovery was brutal...still is from time to time but for the most part I'm back to my regular activities (about 75% there)
As of this comment, I'm 3 months postpartum. The minimum of 6 weeks to recover is just that, THE BARE MINIMUM amount of time it takes to even think about doing more than just a few steps here n there and picking up your baby. I felt fine like I was capable of doing more around 3 weeks in but I could tell for certain that I wasn't at the same strength levels pre-pregnancy.
All this just to say.... go at your own pace and the important thing here is to heal your body. Give it the time it's telling you it needs 😊

I feel like this indirectly shows women that to be in that shape the insane amount of work it takes in an insane amount of time, and some of it is things most doctors wouldnt recommend doing that early. Its indirectly showing its ok not to have results like her because the reality of what getting there is is probably not recommended for most people.

I wish I would have known to do this when I had my first C-section. 4 csections later and always struggling with weight.
It wasn’t until after I had my last one that I truly even understood what the belt was for.
It’s always been a heavy regret of mine that I didn’t do enough research for recovery.

Having just gone through a big unexpected abdominal thing, I’d say Pray/meditate, if you do those things. Eat well, sleep. Talk to your Drs/surgeons..Take your vitamins and plan your hospital stay with military precision.🙏🏾😁🙏🏾 I adore this vid but this lady is kinda lucky. Definitely not realistic for every mama, or person undergoing a major surgery. But I LOVE to see it. Best of luck.

My experience after my c section was awful. I feel like crying. I ended up on strong strong antibiotics that made me sick because the doctor f’d it up and caused me to get sick because he did something wrong and bacteria got in it. I can’t feel a thing now in that area and I’m just gonna get a tummy tuck in the future when I can afford it. But I exercise and eat healthy, no meats. But that’s awesome that she was able to do that!

I had four c-sections I physically was able to move very well pretty quickly but you aren't even allowed to exercise until 6 weeks right? And even though your C-section scar is healed on the outside it's not necessarily healed on the inside nor is the initial dinner plate size hole that you're placenta leaves when it comes out. There are reasons to take it slow and yes I see that she is a pelvic floor specialist and that's great and she's looking fantastic right after having a baby that's great. I do have to say I'm lucky that my scars are just flat white lines I don't have any raised skin I also have no feeling my belly button down

I had my first baby from natural delivery and healing process was so painful and long, 3 weeks. With the second one I had a c-section and it went so great, didn’t feel any discomfort at all. They applied the patch on top the stitches and I didn’t need to worry about the scar at all.

  • @butterflybeginnings

Without discounting her recovery efforts which are very impressive.
Reason for c section is important context.
Many body builders (not saying she is one) and others who train with tucked under tails and lots of strength work often end in c section.
27 years in the pregnancy, labour and postnatal care industry has shown repeatedly this.
I do love her ab control.
I would be super interested in the context.
And I hope there a mummas who can use many of her strategies to support recovering strength post birth easily and quickly.

You shouldn't have been doing any exercises until after six weeks. Getting slim again is not as important as letting your body heal after major surgery. This is not a good message to put out there. It just makes all the women who don't bounce back feel like failures. It also promotes pushing your body when it should be healing. Not safe.

    • @strawberrycherrybaby
      @strawberrycherrybaby 6 місяців тому +26

This isn’t to be slim. It’s so her pelvic floor isn’t blown out. She’s doing very basic stretching and bracing, she isn’t actually exercising or lifting anything.

I was 11 when my mom had her c-section and she was bed ridden 😳 My dad, older sister, and I helped out with my baby sister until my mom was fully recovered and even then my mom was never the same after her c-section. My mom also has fibromyalgia so her recovery was extra long. She was in pain for a VERY long time. I’m 21 now, and I still can’t believe some people don’t KNOW that c-sections are super serious surgeries and super painful. To anyone having a c-section that can’t bounce back as quickly as the woman in this video, don’t feel too bad! It’s clear she has a lot of information about the recovery process. Sadly a lot of people don’t. It is ok to rest just like she’s showing it’s ok to be active during recovery. We are just not taught, so I’m glad she’s teaching. Just try to remember everyone’s bodies are different and recover differently. Do what works for you. Good luck to everyone out there recovering from c-sections ❤

People need to understand she isn’t just doing this for aesthetics. This is for regaining functionality again. Most doctors will not tell you massaging and frictioning (a type of massage for adhesions and scar tissue) will help (overtime as long as you’re committed to it) helps you break down that scar tissue to loosen it back up after you’ve had a C-section. Castor oil patches are also a good option to supplement with the massaging.
A lot of women don’t understand that this can seriously impact the quality of your life if you don’t put in the work to fix it. Pelvic floor, health and strength is very important. So while I understand the advice that you can take time and we shouldn’t all stress about the process of trying to get our bodies back before baby and whatever this video isn’t even remotely touching on that at all. I just had my fourth baby a little over a month ago and I’m working on doing all of these because I know it’s going to help optimize my functional performance again.

I closed my abdominal separation after having my big baby (9lb 6oz). Consistency is key for anything like this. Also big yes on rubbing scars! I have several big ones and yes it hurts but it helps long term. I like using vitamin e oil when rubbing scars. Little things done often can give major results!
