What does Sutjeska National Park include?
Before coming here, I myself was not really aware of what the Sutjeska National Park includes, so I would often get confused what is and what is not in it. Therefore, I think it is important that before I tell you something more about the attractions of the site itself, I explain what all falls under the park, right?
The national park has a huge area and covers as much as 16,052.34 hectares, while more than 66% of its area is covered with forest. The park includes a really large mountainous area located between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, where Maglić and Volujak stand out, as the two highest mountains in Bosnia and Herzegovina, then the beautiful Zelengora, Lebršnik, Vučevo, and Prijevor, which I just wrote about. .
In the heart of the Park is the strict nature reserve Perućica (1,434 hectares), the best-preserved and one of the largest rainforests in Europe, where since the founding of the National Park, any human intervention and interference is strictly prohibited.
Here you will also see a world-known monument on Tjentište, a symbol of the famous battle that took place on Sutjeska, and which is without a doubt one of the most important battles of that time for our people.
