There was a stillness to Trish's voice that is perfectly exhibited here. She just had an extra-rare calmness to her, reminiscent of Anne Briggs, which was perfection in terms of the music Broadcast were conveying. Such a special voice, so few have that gift, that "anti-Mariah" that she possessed.
Man, no comment sections mourns the loss of their beloved artist more than the ones on Broadcast videos. Ten years on and I'm still wondering what wonderful music was to come...as I come back to the great stuff left behind! Anyone know what James Cargill is up to these days? Haven't heard much since Children of Alice dropped.
A band I grew up listening to. Sometimes I forget about them... I dunno why I do. I was gutted when I heard she passed. Her death really hit me. I am so glad they re-pressed their records a couple of years ago.
I agree with most comments and share the feelings. Yet it is a weird feeling for me to analyze why I like this music so much. Not so much to do with her sad departure, I think. The music, as simple as it is, triggers a nerve in myself and brings me to a zone of inner comfort, akin to people of my likeness. Wierd as I am !
Great song, just wish the others gave backing vocals to Trish. I can hear so many vocal harmonies that could of been sang that are missing. R. I. P my fellow brummie, Trish Keenan.
LoL is she and the keyboardist frowning at each other while shaking their heads "no" at the very end? Like no ...no.no no, no flutter on the keyboard, we were supposed to end right there.
Jame's keyboard makes no sense to me on 'I found the f'. Sounds like an A mixolydian scale (I say a mixolydian because the bass is emphasizing the A) starting on the G, descending. But on the video he's clearly hitting a G sharp.

Trish is in Karen carpenter school of singing;
Mariah is in the Aretha school ...
The Anne Briggs comparison is bang on! Broadcast and Trish Keenan, music for the Ages.
@@MrZipdang I'm a huge fan of Anne, hope she's doing well. We've Friday to look forward to as Broadcast fans!

Tearing a bit
He made a compilation album of their works circa 2006-2009. It's called Spell Blanket. Mad praise to James for completing it!
I didn't know this song was so well extended. It left me shivering and nostalgic for something I haven't or have yet to experience.
she urges sorrow and transcendental simultaneously...

Ikr, i've been singing with octave lower than hers. It's such a perfect combo.
I swear the instrumental part is an adaptation of a track or two from the OG Wicker Man soundtrack.
you're missed, Trish
A day with music thinks this.
