this drama was so realistic. they didn't make cheng lang and lin you end up together. and even didnt make lin you end up with the guy ancheng. plus tao ended up with bao(i was shipping them so bad during school days). Basically they didnt made this drama like a drama with all those fantasy and unrealistic story instead showed reality, character development and best endings for all the characters!! also they didnt hurry in making leads fall in love easily.. respected each character feelings. A solid 10/10!!

Feels like even I have grown up with them. Got to witness their school days, university life and how young adults they have become of. It's so painful to know this is the last episode although it had a happy ending. But seeing Huang Jun at the wedding of Tao made me realizd that some people are meant to be in the past and we have to move on. Same with Cheng Lang seeing Lin You he even can't forget her. But I hope he will also find happiness in life. Life is like a river, we are moving forward in life. If not you'll always stuck in the past without having to enjoy or experience what awaits for you. Rather than sticking to one place it is better to move forward even though it might be really difficult. Thank you A River Runs through it for those life lessons and entertaining us. I will miss this drama and the cast. Really love this friendship of those 5 people.

Literally this cdrama is the best cdrama I have ever seen. It was a very peaceful, loving, fun drama. The character development was good. The friendship, family and gf bf relationship was shown really amazing. Parents also tried to understand them after making mistakes. Friendship shown here is the one I want in real life. I literally cried in every episode. I love all of the five characters. Cheng lang is such a caring, king and loving friend. Xia xiouju and lu shiyi are the best couple 😭😭😭😭😭. I love lu shiyi. I want such a loving and caring yet annoying lover. And qui letao is such a good friend. Ahhhh I want to write more but that would not be much enough to explain my love for this drama❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️✨✨.
One last thing I wished is that they could have shown much screentime of xia xiaoju and lu shiyi being a couple in this episode.
Overall the drama is really fabulous.

This drama was so realistic and had no typical bullies who make extrem intrigues. It was just like the real life of normal families without the rich boss who marries the poor girl in the most Chinese dramas. All of characters had equal chances and were friendly to each other most of the time just like real friends do in daily life. Thanks for this simple but great storyline. All the actors played their roles very naturally due to the great interaction between them. It reminds me of my school time. Thanks to YoYo for translating for us!

I never imagined when I started watching this drama that it would become my favorite and unforgettable. This drama contains every human emotion. It began beautifully and the ending was even more beautiful. Each character has taken a special place in my heart. While watching each episode I laughed a lot cried a lot and felt very happy. The friendship in this drama truly flows like a river. I enjoyed watching it very much and I never wanted it to end.Xia Xiaoju finally found her true love. Lu Shiyi won her heart with his genuine love and they ended up together. Cheng Lang and Huang Jun are characters that made me feel sad. Cheng Lang's character is as vast as his big heart. Lin You loved him deeply. Lin You is a kind-hearted girl and she will never be able to forget Cheng Lang. I hope that Cheng Lang finds a good partner who deserves him. Huang Jun felt so much regret when he lost Le Tao. He didn’t realize her value when she was with him, but after losing her he understood the meaning of true love. Le Tao’s perfect partner is Bao Bao. It's always good to have someone who understands you well. Huang Jun and Lu Shiyi’s friendship is great. Huang Jun is a good friend who understands Lu Shiyi well. okkk, can we just take a moment to appreciate Lu Shiyi's character besides being a lover of dreams.... like seriously, he was very carefree and chill but knew when to act professional, he became a doctor to fulfill his dad's unlived dream, he even overcame his blood phobia for it, and even though he loved xiaoju so much and on his return while standing in front of her he acted as if he didn't care for her anymore( ps: I was mad at him the entire time to act the way he did but I know he was right) but thing was he still loved her and was seeing her after so long but he hid that really well. and at last I would say the director of this series has a huge respect in my eyes, like the silently portrayed character development at it's best . let me explain what I'm trying to say, did anyone notice the dressing sense evolve of lu shiyi and xiaoju , in the beginning of the college they were both having a not so good clothing style but how that evolved over the span of the series, the confidence of each character and their perspectives changing is so extraordinarily natural and real... ✨💖
In ep 1 , the year was 1997 ; in 1st year of their college , the year was 2000, in ep 27 (last year of their college) the year was 2002, in ep 35 the year was 2007. They changed their dressing style these way. Not only dress but also their computer, cell phone also got changed. Even they changed xiao ju's hair style.♥

I binge watched the entire drama in just 3 days. Once I started watching I couldn't stop, it's so addictive. It feels like I've grown years in such a short time. Watching their journey from school, college to marriage. I absolutely loved this drama. Such an unique and realistic plot! Definitely one of my top favorites. Some of the plot lines were so damn relatable and realistic . I can't control my feelings after watching this last episode. I feel like it's ended too soon and am craving for more ! I'm gonna miss all of them so so much. These characters and their journeys have taught me so much and they've become like a part of me. Although all of them didn't get the perfect happy ending , still this is one of the best dramas ever cuz that's just how reality is! We gotta move forward like a river, taking the memories and teachings that life gives us along the way. Things will change , bittersweet memories. All the emotions about growing up in this whole show was portrayed so well and really touched my heart. I love them all so so much!😍 K gonna go cry now 😭😭😭💙❤️💙❤️💙

May 13, 2023 - Just finished this drama, literally a masterpiece!
The story, ost, characters all are on point. The details on development in a decade(1997-2007), from video games to computer games, from telephone's to Xiaoju's flip phone are perfect.
There are so much to learn from every character like from Tao Tao her bravery, cheng lang's understanding, Xiaoju's caring towards her friends and family & Shiyi's patience and determination.
Though we didn't get too many xiajou and shiyi together scenes after they got engaged but the ones we got prior speaks volume. I want to be like Shiyi like to love someone with all my heart.🙂
Really loved this drama. And all the comments by all of u are cherry on top. I laughed, i wondered reading them throughout the show. Someone has commented that it feels like they are grown up in front of us. I feel the same.
I still remember some dialogues. To mention, 'Having grown up means seperation'. Like it so true as we grow up people who are part of our everyday life went apart. After 12th standard all my friends went to different cities for studying. So, I can feel the pain this line holds. And my favourite, "Is it too hard to admit that you like me, haa!"
One more thing to add, "If we are destined to meet we will meet anyways no matter how much distance we have, no matter how much time it takes." As Shiyi said, "It's the time and distance who made us confirm what we really feel for each other."

I can't tell you guys how glad I'm after watching this entire series. I felt like growing up with them. From high school to university to their love confession and finally to their marriage. I really loved each and every character of this story. Not a single character was toxic. All of them had character development. And what can I say about Shiyi our datu? Can we all just appreciate how damn selfless Letao is????!?!?! LIKE- the things she has gone through and to the point where she even decides to share her wedding with her best friend ughh. I just love her and everyone so much. The ending was completely satisfactory. (I would have liked to see Shiyi's and Xiaxiu's parents' reactions when they find out about their engagement LOL)

While everyone is talking about everyone else, especially Shiyi, I'd say my favourite character was Le Tao. She's the most brave, realistic and mature character in the whole drama. When she liked someone, she boldly confessed it. When she felt disrespected, she left. When she saw he wishes to change, she gave him another chance. When she was disappointed again, she left for good and never looked back. That's what we do in real life too. We can't leave just at once because maybe the person realised his/her mistakes and want to be better. But once you see that it's not worth it, you leave. It's never easy. Letao was the most supportive gf one could ever ask for but at the end of the day she knew her worth and never doubted it for a second. I feel everyone else in the drama was busy being stuck on their respective first loves and that's kinda drag. So Le Tao took the crown for me. Also, seeing her so happy with Baobao , they just cured all my resentment for bringing bao back only now

Now i understand the meaning of the drama name. Actually, I have watched uncountable dramas but this drama is really unique as it shows the reality. It actually happens in every person's life.The way Xiao Ju liked Cheng Lang, The way Shiyi liked Xiao Ju, The way Tao Tao liked Huang Jun and the way Cheng Lang liked Lin You is a secret way, they cared secretly for their loving ones without asking anything in return.
I realised that this drama is different from others. Because, all drama heroes are quite and calm, but in this drama the hero is cheerful and active. I think I fall in love with this drama ❤❤❤
This drama will always have a solid place in my heart. I originally started watching it due to a clip on tiktok and honestly it was fate that it did. I’m so glad I decided to watch this show. The character development, background, the lessons too, it’s all just amazing.
Though the ending is bitter, sweet, I’m super excited that Bao Bao and Tao Tao got together in the end. I was a little suspicious that it was him. Even tho it took 36 episodes to get to Shiyi and Xioju kissing or even getting married/becoming romantic with each other, I’d still go back and watch it again. The bitter part is that Huang Jun and Cheng Lang didn’t have a happy ending. Sure they’re happy for their friends but they also had their hearts broken in the process. Thought I am glad Huang Jun and Tao Tao didn’t end up together, they weren’t the best match tbh. Yes they were cute but it clearly wasn’t the best relationship. Huang Jun definitely had some growing up to do and realizations. I’m sure if there was a second season we would’ve seen Huang Jun and Cheng Lang get married, and ofc Shiyi and Xioju. I’m pretty happy with the ending we got though. Credits to everyone who worked on this show, they all did amazing. The acting was pretty good too, you could do clearly see the love Shiyi has got Xioju. And how they dressed everyone too, you could see that they were slowly all growing up, just through their clothes.

I have watched many high school / university drama but I always get bored when it reaches the half episodes but this one , while watching this series I was never bored. Some of the scenes were so realistic that we can relate to our life. Each and every actors and actress portrayed their character so well. And among the kdrama and cdrama I have watched this will be my top no.1 favorite. Each and every emotions from the beginning to the end was portrayed perfectly. THIS SHOW WAS EPIC. BTW I'm obsessed with all the people in this drama especially hu yixuan and Wang rui Chang. I will re watch it again and hope for season 2

The most important lesson this drama gave us we romanticize many things in teenage .some love stories end up being together ,some doesn't. That doesn't mean you have lost in life. Baobao taught us its ok to be fail. Tao taught us letting go things that doesn't work like her relationship with huang jun. Cheng lang taught us we can cherish the good memories and give best wishes for the people who left us. Same goes for Huang Jun. He was so happy in the last episode to see Tao's wedding. And the most important thing Shiyi taught us to fight for love.
Deep down inside every character in this drama is so well written and cherish worthy.❤

It is the best wedding proposal ever that I have ever seen. Never expected that he was gonna confess on their friend's wedding. They are such a great friend to make a surprise like this.

i'm crying too much since this drama comes to an end but i'll never forget about the teachings this drama taught me. the chemistry of yixuan and richards is so bomb! hopefully more project for both of them. this drama is on my top 3 cdramas i've ever watched, the plot, the characters, the story line is amazing! i love this drama so much, i fell inlove with shiyi's character

In cdrama..like a family drama..not so many kissing scene...i think it shows the reality of life that love means not only romance, date etc..It's have a deeper defination and the sml lu shiyi character is really a realistic, caring over all an amazing character..
