I really really like this show. This interview was fun to watch!
*Sonequa Martin is sooo fine!* She is from the same small town that I call home (Russellville, AL). My folks and I know her and her folks. We couldn't be prouder of her accomplishments, especially ... *Star Trek Discovery!* Keep it up, Girl!

There is a lot riding on Sonequa's performance. This will either go over well with Trekkie's and we will get several years, maybe even some more series out of this, or it will all fall apart.
She's a good actress and the way her character is constructed seems interesting, it's more the tone that everybody is worried about.
You need your fucking eyes checked.

Just started watching this show Fuken awesome graphics are excellent acting is great was hooked after each and every episode can’t wait fir season 2
However the series turns out, I mean if it flops, Im not gonna blame these actors, they're talented people and have trusted what the writers and producers have done with it. They've just tried to bring it all to life
i agree! its not their fault! also.. they seem to be aware of how terrible the show is xD and they are trying to BS their way thru this interview, they are professionals ;)
I was so disappointed by STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS that I was very reluctant to watch DISCOVERY - but so far, I like it. I've only watched the first two episodes so far though. Great cast. And it really seems to be a character-driven show (like DS9). Let's see where they'll take us ...

I love the idea of Star Trek coming back. But I do not like the idea of it only being om CBS All Access. That is not fair.

So, according to this guy in the middle 8in the back), this is the "first time", that there's a story which rund trough the entire season? And "every episode was self-contained"?... Well... What about the Xindi in Enterprise? What about the Dominion-arc in DS0 (first mentioned in Season 2, and important up to season 7!)?
"It's a lot more about characters... in 2017", according to the guy in the front (on the right of the screen)... well, again... what about DS9? That show had the most belivable staff... each character developed (Nog, and Jake grew uo, Rom started as a empoyee, and rose up to lead the Ferengi, Kira overcame her prejudice about Cardassians, and even teached them in guerilla warfare, Bashir learned how to accept his genetic modifications, Odo learned where he come from, and struggles with his heritage, THE Sisko evolvrd from a bitter Commander to the most BA MF in Starfleet history, along with being the emissary, and don't get me started on the ongoing sufferings of O`Brien. The "bad guys" also developed a lot throughout the series... Dukat, Winn, and Damar are anything but your throwaway villiain-of-the-week. Even the supporting cast got a lot of character-development. Just think about Leeto, Martok, Gorkon, and Joseph Sisko.
All of them were believable. Jake, and Nog were the best child-characters, Trek ever had.
I mean, even Enterprise (which, I personally loved), had a lot of character-development. We see, feel, and learn about the friendship of Archer, and Trip. We see first-hand, how Trip, and Reed became friends, how Trip, and T'Pol started their relationship. We see, how Hoshi get used to living on a starship. Granted, Maywether was kinda left out.
Later on, I get the feeling, that the cast has no idea about Star Trek after TOS...
So the "caiptain" would do a bad impression of Picard, or Janeway (oh, my....), he's nothing like them, and is a *beep* guy, damaged by the war, and the complicated times... Which sounds a lot like Sisko.
I'm sorry... I'm a huge Star Trek fan, and I would LOVE to have another show, set in the prime universe, but... everything we got so far (trailer, promo-pics, and this "interview") sreams nothing but failure.
(Btw, sorry, if I made some mostakes, english isn't my first language ;) .)

actually most Star Trek fans don't like STD. I like real Star Trek such as TOS, TNG, Voyager, DS9, and Enterprize. I bet Martin Green does not even know what these are.

and i couldn't disagree more about your view of the characters.. i don't agree that they are "three dimensional". i think they are barely recognizable as characters at all xD (i literally don't know a single person irl that is like ANY of these empty vessels you call "characters")
the show is about wallowing in misery, and if you're into that sort of thing, ST Discovery is for you. i'm not..
it's ok for people to like different things.. but to say that the show is "about the characters" is just absurd. none of these characters are likeable or well written/thought out. the show generally suffers from poor writing and directing. you can tell by how badly the supposedly emotional scenes (like the death of the captain in the pilot) are executed. they are never established as having had much of a relationship, and then the captain gets killed (in a quick and unemotional way xD) and the audience is asked to care, even tho the relationship has barely been established. the show is ridiculous and honestly an embarrassment for the writers/directors/producers... (the actors are not to blame.. they just do what they are told and have to work with what they are given xD)
So, is EVERYONE in the cast gay . . . and alien ?

Fans my ass. At least I don't see how a fan could do what they did to the Klingons. Even if you don't like the Klingons a fan wouldn't screw all other fans be redesigning them. Simple. It's disrespectful of the franchise. Roddenberry signed off on the TNG Klingons design. Period.
Who gives a fukk what Roddenberry signed off on? People have this notion that GR was some God. The best parts of Trek he had nothing to do with and some of the worst was his doing. I could care less about his almighty hand.

More about characters than the original? BS. It was always about characters.
The original was all about character for the trifecta of Spock, Kirk, and Bones. I think they meant the whole crew gets more character and each episode builds upon the previous with character development.
