Hey mark you have a very nice set up I like the idea but if you could make the video slowly for inside winter setup and outside I got the idea, but I live in New York City, you think the canaries and finches can survive ?
A K’S Thankyou for your kind words.. I live in the South West of England and we rarely get snow or temperatures lower then Zero for longer then a week. Being that you get harsh winters in your state ,I would house your birds indoors during the harsh winter months.
Hi Mark, Lovely aviary. I live in East Sussex and would like to start an aviary of Australian Finches. I am an absolute novice. I don't have the space for an indoor bird room but was considering a flight with a shelter for roosting etc. Is this viable? Also what would I do for the breeding pairs to allow them suitable nesting space etc? Thanks Ian
Ian Bannister Hey sorry for the late response, Firstly Australian finches except for a very few are not for beginners.Yes the look beautiful but the experience required to keep let alone breed them comes from many years of keeping harder species .These fragile little birds require heating and special lights with different foods and live insects just to get them to think about breeding. You can keep Zebra finches with next to no experience just water seed and keep them dry the same with the Java Sparrows. Just mail me back if you want any info about anything bird related I'll be happy to help. Mark
Marks Javas Hi Marks, The whole dilemma is that people here aren't aware on how to produce pastel Cock. We don't have pastel grey mutation here in states. What color do I need to put together to produce pastel grey cock?
Hi Marks,Thank you so much for your guidance on how to produce Pastel Grey java mutation. Now I have a Fawn Male and Silver female and they just produced some Grey (normal) mutation chicks. I have one male and one female from that clutch. they are about 5 months old now. So you are suggesting If I put another Fawn hen with this grey (normal) mutation male and then whatever the offspring come out pair that offspring with another fawn Hen to get the pastel grey mutation?
Beautiful! I have a java pair and they are in a temporary cage while I build my aviary. I look to this video for inspiration!
Really nice looking aviary and birds. Keep posting videos :D
