They actually did drive through the breakaway wall... there was a making of, for this mv and it had San and Wooyoung having to deal with the debris as it came down on them. It is hard to explain Ateez's lore but believe me it all makes sense in their universe. In short form, essentially they are pirates and their belongings have been confiscated and this them getting their belongings back.

Explaining the story as simply as I can:
as ateez are pirates (it’s their running concept since debut) and all of their treasure has been stolen or being sold off by gangs and thieves that got ahold of it. Captain is visibly furious and is taking out all this anger that he can’t contain (got himself hurt in the process lol, but if got him the signature pirate eye patch 😂😂)
He sent off his trusted members to retrieve their goods, and they’ve all split off into three teams:
Team1: looking for their ship ownership certificate and some treasure that they know is being kept hidden inside a safe in the pawn shop (pawn shop is a disguise and they know it, hence breaking into it)
Team2: San and Wooyoung are trying to bet and gamble for their map that a gang member has used as the main prize for the game. The two members use tricks under the table to ensure their victory (switching cards and swapping them), and do win. But the gang member and his ol’buddy try to snatch the winning good from them before team1 smashes right into the casino place and takes care of them.
As for Team3: Solo mission by Mingi, to retreat their compass (ig it’s special lol) and he had to get captured in order to infiltrate the car, and maybe he did something to get kicked out and in the process, he planted a bomb and completed his mission successfully.
The main reason why the ship and their treasure was stolen was because “DESTINY SHIP” can literally take you ANYWHERE. So really, it has no problem being on land either (hence at the desert), it flies too; you can see this in their Illusion MV or even the ending +end credits teaser of the MV Thanxx.
Captain leaves the burning house (his own doing lol) after being notified by his members that they’ve gotten everything and they all finally meet up and group together, so it is time for them to set off and resume their journey (more storyline shenanigans)

I think it's more of that Hogjoong LOST the stuff not that it was taken from him as the deed to the ship is in a pawn shop and he is clearly self-isolating in his rage and shame. And not like he sent them to retrieve the stuff but that Seonghwa lead them to do it and bring it back to Hongjoong to show him like look, it's not all lost, we are still with you, it's ok, come back to us. Hongjoong didn't leave the house because he got the message from them but rather that he finished processing his low point (clearly still finishing it stumbling away on the road), saw the newfound hope in the key that he found inside the model metaphorical "Treasure" in his "Destiny".
