I’m Japanese rugby fan. Swanepoel, thank you for coming to Japan rugby league one!! Nice game both teams!! Thank you for the impression of World cup 2023!!
Love to see games in Namibia. They deservedly beat Ireland 2-0 in an early 1990s tour over there. An Irish rugby journalist called that Namibia tour Irish rugby's Vietnam lol.
Good entertaining game. Portugal have become a quality team, always good to watch. Along with Georgia they'll be knocking on the door of a revamped 6 nations soon. Not much rain in Namibia this time of year by the looks of it.
They won’t be joining the 6 Nations it’s a private tournament and neither country have the financial clout to support themselves in it. In fact they would weaken it which is why the other 6 Unions would never agree. Unfortunately it’s not merit based as in football and a lot of the arcane rules hark back to the time of amateur rugby. The best Portugal or Georgia can hope for is that some big money backer injects cash into the Rugby Europe Championship and improves the standard.
@@winco68 Understand what you are saying, but remember when ITALY joined the Six nation? Cannon fodder for all Teams in the Six Nation, and more so to the other Bigger teams! Nomore runaway scores over Italy, and the same happened to Argentina. Once exposed to a higher level they also adapted well.
@@laurentlassen7812 I also get what you’re saying but you have to understand the mentality of the rugby hierarchy. It’s not just about Rugby it’s about the bottom line as much as the Sport. In fairness to Georgia and Portugal the amount of capital that Italy brings to the 6N far exceeds what Georgia and Portugal could bring combined. The same scenario occurred with Argentina when it joined RC. They satisfied the criteria because the Union was solvent and they had the infrastructure. Having said that the RC is different because it doesn’t have the history of the 6N being a fairly recent competition. I’m in agreement with you that merit should be rewarded but unfortunately for some the integrity of this tournament is sacrosanct and if any member Union felt that would be jeopardised by a new member that might struggle to support themselves financially and bring less to the tournament than they take from it then it’s a no go. They also won’t entertain the idea of relegation between 6N and REC because that could potentially jeopardise the historical cups - Calcutta Cup and Triple Crown if one of the home nations were to be relegated. It’s a frustrating scenario because the impression given to those outside of 6N is that the members Unions want to have their cake and eat it and they come across as Selfish. A couple of ideas that I personally think would improve things for Tier 2 Rugby in Europe is to have a Rugby Euros every 4 years in between RWC. It would give Tier 2 more exposure if the top 16 of Europe are involved. Another idea is to include the Tier 2 senior teams in the U20 6N (It wouldn’t be 6N then) but that exposure would help them exponentially.
@@laurentlassen7812 I fully appreciate what you’re saying but you have to understand the mentality of the 6N hierarchy. They are not opposed to expansion but any new potential member Union must satisfy the fiscal criteria as well as tenure of infrastructure. Unfortunately neither Georgia or Portugal are able to do that at present. Italy bring more financially to the 6N than Georgia and Portugal combined and a lot more besides. Any admission that would risk the financial stability of the 6 current member unions would not be entertained. Any new admission would have to be able to be self sufficient and support itself without assistance. None of the Unions in Europe outside of the 6N are currently in a position to do that.
Fantastic to see decent coverage and opportunities being presented to nations outside the 'usual suspects'. This kind of thing is essential if rugby is going to continue growing as a sport. Namibia have always been a favourite of mine at World Cups and Portugal are rapidly becoming one of the most exciting sides to watch in the world. Long may it continue.
Namibia needs a new coach, one that does not enrich himself and his cronies...him and his coaching staff should be exposed...the world cup was more a familie holiday for the staff than it was to participate...they complain about lack of funds, maybe they should stop spending it on themselves and actually invest it in the game...miss management is the real problem in Namibian rugby...
It's Allisters job to make his team win. NOT to invest in ground roots rugby in your country. He gets paid his share, just like those players, to perform for their country. It's Namibia rugby as a whole who needs to improve. Infrastructure at school level, Uni lvl, grass roots rugby needs to be put in place. Tournaments for young boys/girls and national champs like Craven week in SA. Instead lots of your players have actually come to SA to go through their structures to improve their game. If that is happening it's a sign rugby in Namibia needs help across the board not just at national level. It starts from the bottom, grass roots.
@user-kk4lw4mr6i agree 100% but its the top level that is eating all the money, half the guys dont want to play because there is always some "issues" with players payment...and as mentioned the coaching staff enjoys the spoils of going to the world cup WITH their family members on Namibian rugby unions account...and then the players have to wait for their "salaries " once they return...the problem is its become a free for all...and the money is not spent on what it needs to be spent and the top level staff is a big part of that problem
Portugal would have been relatively strong favourites though. Namibia would only have a one in four to five chance of beating them, based on their respective form the past five years or so. I'd say if anything Namibia exceeded expectations here with that performance. Especially the first 55 minutes or so.
Imagine tackling and rucking on that pitch with no grass and no lines. World Rugby has abandoned its pitch standards. Thank God for the volume button that saved my ears from those commentators.
Yes. The broadcast feed was not in sync with the referees stoppages, which would be always the case in more high profile tier 1 matches plus the URC, prem, top 14, Super Rugby etc. So there's a bit of guesswork sometimes in comparison to the official clock.

Thank you for the impression of World cup 2023!!
Well done to Namibia, kept a close-game against Portugal, a European rugby nation becoming increasingly more competitive in Europe...👏🏽👏🏽

Hardly EVER rain in Namibia in the Winter. Summer rain for us here!

Toujours très agréables à regarder jouer les portugais. Ils confirment au niveau international. Intéressant pour l’avenir.
Surtout qu'il joue l'Afrique du Sud ce week-end sa ne peut que les faire progrès

"Red machine", "Captain Fantastic" great to hear these great things about the Lobos!🐺
It’s sad to see the lack of support for the national team.
namidbia has a predominantly poor black population, and rugby there is played by a predominantly wealthy white minority. it is what it is.
Not really a big country
Good game! Pitch looked pretty hard!! Portugal ran away with it at the end but Namibia were competitive.
Portugal knows how to attack. Great running of the ball. They have backs with speed and shiftiness.
what great commentary - we need this at the 6 Nations 🤗
ყოჩაღ პორტუგალიას!
Portugal good at running with ball🔥
Like hey Kelvin Meyer to coach team like Namibia,he got it to bring the best out of a team like namibia
Just love this lady commentator ❤ puik gedoen
Great job by the Namibia kicker
Great 77:40m match
That dry old rugby pitch reminds me of good old days.
At least it was an improved performance from Namibia
Parabens aos Lobos!!

🇵🇹,🇬🇪 ,🇪🇸 and 🇷🇴 watch that space the,are coming hard love from Springbok fan
Namibia tiene que jugar contra Brasil. Por ahí está su nivel.😅
I thought a Lion had gotten into the crowd, all that screaming 🦁
🇵🇹 will advance to the quarter-finals of the 2027 Rugby World Cup🇦🇺
How fast are these Portuguese
Not sure I would want to be sitting too high up in that stand.
do you have grass in Namibia?
Good game, but why did the ref stop the game 2 mins 21 seconds early.
Well done PORTUGAL.
Now thare's something you don't hear everyday - Portugal beat Namibia in Rugby 🙂
Portugal would have been relatively strong favourites though.
Namibia would only have a one in four to five chance of beating them, based on their respective form the past five years or so.

Yet another annoying commentator ruining a rugby game.
Stop complaining u sook
Commentating for the blind...
It's also like there's a lag because the commentator tries to fill in to much commentary. But also... knows fuxk all.
Very annoying
This commentator thinks that they are commentating to people who cannot see and don’t know rugby! Very annoying!!
PORTUGAL! Muito bem feito!
The Dutch and Germans of Namibia seems to be struggling. Ja….not good 🇳🇱🏉🇩🇪
Not all of Namibia’s population are descended from the Netherlands and Germany not by a long shot and I’m including the white ones too.
Why are they filming this from outer space?! Heard of the zoom function??
It's a small stadium without the positions to set up cameras on high. Stop being so patronizing.
Namibia shouldn't be losing these games they have better grass roots rugby than Portugal
Imagine tackling and rucking on that pitch with no grass and no lines. World Rugby has abandoned its pitch standards. Thank God for the volume button that saved my ears from those commentators.
Lines are clear as daylight…. It’s winter in Namibia. That grass is the most green it could be.
full time 77min? Does someone have an idea why?
Yes. The broadcast feed was not in sync with the referees stoppages, which would be always the case in more high profile tier 1 matches plus the URC, prem, top 14, Super Rugby etc.
So there's a bit of guesswork sometimes in comparison to the official clock.
Great highlights, crap commentary
😂
those assholes screaming at every big moment made it almost unwatchable, had it not been for the good quality attack on both sides
The commentary is absolutely atrocious. Keep these two away from the mic
Better to watch on mute

No woman, that has had ro be the worst I have heard, ever.
I would not be able to do better but this is poop
Females commentating men’s rugby. 😢
Sometimes even refereeing...
Very bad commentator. Very bad.
