I have no conception of how this bond between mag mel got established. But if I were to take a guess then I would say that when kazarina infused drago's dna with dharak they got connected. When dharak touched the sacred orb, he and barodius changed into mag mel and razenoid. They absorbed some powers of the sacred orb and got their own gate and key. Drago and dan also received some power from code Eve along with their gate and key. And since switch code allows the bakugan to be connected to its brawler. The connection dharak has with drago allowed dan to be connected to mag mel. And it just dawned on me that this connection is very similar to the connection between Harry and voldemort.
Code Eve’s energy created Gates and Keys that are connected to Dan and Drago as well as Barodius and Dharak. Code Eve also explicitly states that Drago and Dharak’s fates, as well as their Brawlers’ are linked, and that came into physical and mental energy after their exposure to the power of the Sacred Orb. Mag Mel and Razenoid were forcibly mutated, and hence their Gate and Key aren’t whole. Despite the fact that Mag Mel considers Code Eve’s punishment as a blessing due to the incredible power he attained, their mutation greatly weakened Barodius and Dharak, forcing them to rebuild their powers from supposed scratch. Had Dan and Drago lost, that link could still have existed. Code Eve may have purposely established the link in order to give Dharak an equal opportunity of becoming the Ultimate Bakugan due to his ancestry. It’s even possible that if Barodius won, Dan and Drago could have been banished instead so they can have a chance of defeating Barodius by using the link.

I always found mag Mel to be a very compelling villain. At the beginning of the series, Mag Mel appears as a formidable and malevolent force, leading the villainous group known as the Chaos Bakugan. He seeks to dominate the Bakugan world, unleashing chaos and destruction upon its inhabitants. His actions are ruthless, and he seems to revel in his power. However, as the story progresses, the true nature of Mag Mel's character is unveiled. It is revealed that he is the result of a fusion between two other characters, Barodius (a key antagonist from a previous season) and Dharak (a dark, corrupted Bakugan). Mag Mel is, in a way, a combination of the darkness and ambition of his former components. As the memories of Barodius and Dharak start to resurface within him, Mag Mel faces an internal struggle. He grapples with the conflicting emotions and desires of his two predecessors, and it becomes a defining moment for him. This moment represents his metaphorical Rubicon, a point where he must choose between continuing the legacy of darkness and destruction or seeking redemption and breaking free from his past. Throughout the series, Mag Mel's character undergoes a transformation. His actions become more nuanced, and he begins to show signs of regret and self-reflection. He starts questioning his purpose and identity, realizing the consequences of the path he has chosen. This internal conflict culminates in a crucial decision where Mag Mel chooses to embrace his true identity and confront the darkness within him. By doing so, he seeks to find a way to atone for the sins of his past and bring balance back to the Bakugan world. In this way, Mag Mel's character arc is a compelling example of "crossing the Rubicon." He faces a pivotal moment that changes the course of his life, leading him to question his choices and ultimately choose a path that goes beyond power and destruction. His journey highlights the themes of redemption, self-discovery, and the significance of choices in shaping one's destiny.
4:17 this reveal was pretty obvious. Mag Mel always talked about a link between him and Dan and considering he mentioned Code Eve by name. Given the history of the original Drago and Dharak and everything said in the finale of Gundalian Invaders there were a lot of reasons to assume Mag Mel was Barodius. Still cool to have the continuity though
I think Dan is was shocked because of Barodius’ actions. He didn’t believe that Barodius became so vengeful and evil that he attempted to destroy the entirety of Gundalia like that. I don’t agree with Barodius’ actions but I can understand why he became so vengeful. Gundalia has betrayed him to a usurper in Nurzak. Sure he wasn’t the best ruler but he seemed to care about the planet’s well being and thought only Gundalia deserved the power of the Sacred Orb. Considering how the Gundalians are the most powerful force in the universe, it’s likely that most of Barodius’ family were power hungry dictators and were patriotically justifying their cause for power.
@@justsomeguy747 this goes almost completely against season 3. Barodius stated multiple times he wanted the orb so he could rule the entire universe. Mag Mel's VA is Adam Fietz who has a really good voice range where he can make the most sinister and deepest voice for a character, which is fitting for someone like Barodius. He also did the voice for Helios in Mechtanium Surge but didn't give him his raspy voice, which Helios is otherwise known for. Which is unfortunate because whoever did Helios voice in the Swedish dub in New Vestroia really did a good job.
