This is the explanation I"ve been looking for and easily understood. Now I understand. Took me 35 yrs of playing golf and now Roger King opened the vault for us.
Hey Roger you are absolutely correct in your instructions. May I suggest one small move. Most golfers try to sort of pick the ball clean of the grass which interferes with timing. If you can imagine sliding the sole of the club through the ball there’s no manipulation and the club squares up naturally 👍
I just shot a 78 today using this swing.... took me awhile to trust it on a course. could you do a series of a single conical pendulum swing.... still lots of questions regarding it. Love that is takes all the timing out of a swing. It seems most of your other videos are for a double pendulum swing which I am trying to unlearn so I can transfer to this swing easier... thanks
@@rkswingking 78 is one of my better scores... so I was pleased. I focused on keeping a wide arc thru the swing, with no secondary hinges, ( double pendulum ) and with no tension , Trying to do the "toss swing" or snapping the clubhead into the ball isn't working for me consistently...great one day and horrible on another. Very difficult to time, even if I practice it alot. Also, my instructor doesn't like it.
on the conical pendulum swing... this is what I think my instructor is trying to teach me.. He wants me to keep the same height thoughout my swing with passive arms and wrists. This video really helped me to understand this more... could you do alot more videos on this please !!!! , . I am excited to learn this more. You explain it better than my instructor..lol. Do you know of any LPGA that use a conical pendulum swing? I can't wait to do video lessons on your website.
Hey your golf coach is perfect in their instructions. My coach would yell at me to drop the arms keep my back to the target and maintain height and let the club do the work.best coach ever.
Was going to ask in one of your prior setup check videos where you rest the club on your right shoulder after doing your backswing. Was only ever getting that position to work with my lead wrist in extension, if putting the wrist into extension was actually integral to your methodology.
Double pendulum from what I can tell when watching him swing and the study I have done. Even though Ernest Jones swing clubhead feel Is weight on a string He uses hands to swing it over shoulder both ways so it doesn't keep width like conical
He keeps the radius in his swing and posts to his left leg while doing this . Once you post weight onto left leg your right leg can do whatever it wants .. but he maintains width
I think always go back to physics Once a object starts in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by am outside force . So I always feel no matter which pendulum you use You have to start with a trigger of some kind ... Mine is thinking the motion is in front of me then swinging back all together
Almost a 180 technique of a Mike Austin swing. I would think a tall golfer like Scheffler , would benefit more with conical pendulum. A shorter golfer probable would be more consistent, but would the arc wouldn’t generate the distance. You mentioned Stricker, he is the perfect example, and only when I saw him in person, he is a big strong dude, and hit it long and I was always miffed where that distance came from. This is how and why.
Yes.. that is why not everyone cant swing the same way Or a teacher should not try and teach everyone the same thing . That is part of the fun For me it is way more psychological to see how the person thinks What side of the brain Pictures things in images or is the person more technical Previous history . Injuries . It all goes into it .
@@rkswingkingYES, science has found men can picture in their minds an object revolving in space. But women can’t. Could be helpful for your teaching. Your clarity on line is amazing. From NZ with gratitude.
Roger forgive me if I’m wrong , but does this short video illustrate these two styles ? ua-cam.com/video/Pcz9NeLFkzw/v-deo.htmlsi=H4Rt_e8L3l5HVVNV I feel like I alternate and am caught between these two styles. Can there be a combination betwee the two , or should I focus on one or the other ? I naturally had a double pendulum growing up I think but changed my style due to a sway that developed
Is this like Mike Dunaway shows in his video ? he actually says his hands work in a conical action in his " Worlds greatest driver "video 1.50 of this video ua-cam.com/video/rVxWBbGMPyc/v-deo.html
Wow this is an incredible explanation of this concept!
Thank you I hope it helps you
This is élite information on the difference in swings, and the proper action each needs. Tremendous
Thanks so much . Glad you can see what I am trying to say

Mickey Wright is best example .. goat level
@@rkswingking Great!!! Thank you. This is the swing that does not require timing will allow us to play for a lifetime.
@@rkswingking My favorite golfer of all time is MIckey Wright. Nice to know is a great example.
Roger, Did Manual de la Torre teach a conical pendulum?
No his was double pendulum
When you do more videos on this... can you give us more examples of players today that us a single conical pendulum? Great Stuff!
Done
Look at shorts .. just did 1

Should be same wrist position that was at address
I have looked at scottie's swing and watched his feet and thought it was just unique to him.
Once he posts left he keeps width . His right leg can do the unique to him thing ..lol
What are your thoughts of Manuel de la Torre’s teachings of the golf swing. Was he teaching a double pendulum swing, or a conical pendulum swing?
Double pendulum from what I can tell when watching him swing and the study I have done.
Even though Ernest Jones swing clubhead feel Is weight on a string
He uses hands to swing it over shoulder both ways so it doesn't keep width like conical
Id like an explanation how this swing type is aided by his footwork/weight transfer

I need to ask you one question roger, how important is momentum in the golf swing,,cheers buddy,

Hi Roger, Does tnis require the ability to spin the hips to provide speed? Cheers, Russ
Will go over details in upcoming video
the hips don't ever spin, unless you want to hit block slices and hurt your lower back at the same time
Is this like the Tally method videos online?
No not even close...
Hi Roger,
Which one is the most powerful, double or conical?
Cheers
Conical .. swing a weight on a string in a circle from a fixed point and that is a conical pendulum .. no break in the string ...
Is that similar to the Dan Shauger hand action?
No that's more shut to open like dustin Johnson as well
Reminds me of Dan Martin's videos
If he discusses conical pendulum then yes

No it doesn't
One he shallows

Steve Stricker?
Yes him too
When I swing like this , I lose distance. Any idea why?

@@rkswingking no worries. Appreciate the content still !
What's wrong with losing distance so long you have more consistent shots and ball contact?
I’m still confused! I may have to watch the 10 more times to catch on. Are you just keep the club centered to you body? My brain hurts 🤣
Yes club is in middle of the body
Chest and arms will feel together
The medicine ball from side to side is a good feel

@@rkswingkingwhat is the definition of conical ?
I see described that in my last video
@@rkswingkingwhat is the definition of a conical pendulum ?
It's a circular pendulum
Not the grandfather clock single pendulum
Or a double pendulum where you put a hinge in it and swing back and forth
