I’m a community college transfer and I would 1000000% recommend it! please do a vid! i love talking about that experience with people. I’m so glad you’re happy at ucsc :)
YES OMG I LOVED YOUR VID!! I hope more people take the time to watch it and learn from you! And I will def make a video about being a transfer student!
Hey Charley! I love your channel! I have been in recovery from a few eating disorders since 2016. I was vegan for over a year in the past. I now eat mainly plant based meals, but found that labelling myself vegan & therefore having many restrictions was hindering my recovery. As I said, I mainly enjoy plant based foods now, but I love knowing that if I come across a delicious dessert that I want that is not vegan, it feels good to just allow myself to have it & know that I am doing my best, whilst also honoring my mental health. Another example would be going out with friends or eating at someone's home where they have prepared food, and allowing myself to eat what they are eating or what I want to eat even if it is not vegan. I would love to hear your perspective & will ultimately support whatever you choose feels ethical not only to others but also for your own wellbeing! Much love xx
Hi Charley! I'm a third year at UCSC, Merrill affiliate! I just found your channel while ~*perusing*~ videos of SC to feel something during covid. I love the content!!
I’ve been binging your videos this past week! I just adore your personality and style!! I was wondering what you are majoring in? Taking classes in Shakespeare and such just sounds so lovely!💗
loved this video! so interesting to watch!!! you definitely should continue to film more of these 😊 also definitely interested in hearing your thoughts on being plant based while in recovery
not sure if you’ll ever see this but i thought it was kinda crazy that we both were in the same shakespeare class last winter quarter with prof h and didn’t even know 🤯 so nice to see a fellow banana slug on yt! 💛
@@CharleyAnn it is haha you seem like a super kind and chill person - i wish we could’ve met in that class but it was so big 😆 but i’m glad to have found you here! ✨
Hey Charley. I'm totally in the same boat with the vegan and recovery thing! I think it's important to question whether cutting out foods like butter, cheese or anything was out of good reason or if it was really our disorder having an excuse not to eat these foods out of fear of them. But good luck with everything your doing so well xx
Love the vlog! Transfer slug here too. I missed seeing Hank and Hank's family. I thought it was pretty cool that they would walk around near the classrooms and dorms. Hopefully I will get to return to campus to see them before I graduate lol.
i didn't get the chance to explore any bulk shops other than the community market down town! these bulk items were ones i actually brought from home :)
@@CharleyAnn thanks for responding!! and that's cool. I'm actually a prospective transfer to UCSC so that's why I was wondering :)) I love seeing all of your sustainable items! also, if you want to get coffee on campus and put it in a reusable coffee mug or something similar, does UCSC allow it?
Random question, but how do you style your curls at night for bed? My hair is similar to yours and I swear I wash it and it’s amazing and then I go to bed and wake up and boom flat and sad
I shower in the mornings to keep it fresh! if I don't shower in the morning I usually keep it in braids or a bun. I use R&B moisturizer from lush after every shower!! (I also try to sleep with braids in!)
Weird, my friends went to UCSC and they partied like crazy every time I went there. They lived in those apartments that are kind of in a small valley (can't remember the name) and also a house on Laurel Street. Their house would be packed shoulder to shoulder with people every other weekend!
also not to mention Nike is super unethical with their manufacturing so even if they make a vegan shoe is not necessarily made cruelty free! highly recommend shipping second hand! check depop or poshmark for some used ones :)
As a Santa Cruz student, I came across this video and realized we were in the same class at the same time! Shakespeare 111D with Mrs Herald. Great video and hope you passed 😁
I would love to hear you talking about being vegan/plant-based or not. I have the same struggle at the time and I am just not sure how to handle this problem. I am a person that has problems with quitting things that I once said I was going to do. I am very strict with myself and I feel like a failure pretty fast. But the problem is, that I am quite underweight at the time and maybe it would just be better to change up my diet a little bit. I don´t know how to deal with all of that, so a video would be amazing :)
i heard there was a housing crisis and freshman are being put in like these crowded dorms 😭 pls tel me this isn’t true lol i wanna attend in the fall but scared of that being a possibility
haha I was a junior transfer being put in the crowded dorms, I didn't know many freshman but from from I heard it was the same for them 3-4 people a room. Im not sure how it's been effected by covid tho, and I don't go to the school anymore so I haven't been kept up to date!
Hey, I got into UCSC recently. I was wondering if the environment there is overwhelmingly liberal. Don't get me wrong, I am gay and agree with many liberal concepts, but it is really hard for me to be in an environment that won't stop talking about that stuff, you know? For example, I don't feel like I fit in at my local gay pride festival because I am not very extroverted about how I identify and don't want it to be always in my face. I know UC schools are super liberal generally, and I really like UCSC so far. However, I don't want the place I end up to be very overwhelming if you get me. Thanks so much!

i’d be really interested in a video on your thought on continuing eating vegan and how it plays out with your recovery and all that jazz :) love you!

if you’re still interested pretty please do a vid on transferring from a community college!!! -an undecided, indecisive junior in hs☮️💟
i noticed there's a lot of things in bulk and not in plastic! is there a bulk shop in Santa Cruz where you get things like that? :))

Loved your video 💕 your meals look delicious, I don't like broccoli but even the broccoli looked beautiful 😂😂
thank you! I've been so grateful to have such yummy foods!
Nice vid❤️
I would like to see this kind of video again🥰
thank you! i think I'll start making more of them ☺️
Hi can I please know which down this is? Is this a large triple? Also what college?
Weird, my friends went to UCSC and they partied like crazy every time I went there. They lived in those apartments that are kind of in a small valley (can't remember the name) and also a house on Laurel Street. Their house would be packed shoulder to shoulder with people every other weekend!
wow! that's not something I have experienced, but everyone's time at college is so different!
Hey, i really wanna pair of air force 1s but idk if they’re cruelty free and i’m vegan. Do you know if they’re made from any animal products?
yes they have both leather and glue! I bought mine second hand for about $50 instead of buying new for $120!
also not to mention Nike is super unethical with their manufacturing so even if they make a vegan shoe is not necessarily made cruelty free! highly recommend shipping second hand! check depop or poshmark for some used ones :)
cute video! also if im correct, do your socks have broccoli on them?
yes! broccoli sockoli!!
@@CharleyAnn where did you get them? i need them in my life. broccoli is my favorite food in the world hahaha
