  • 2001 LB7 Duramax | GMC Sierra 3500 Crew Cab Long Bed Dually. In this episode I show you how to fix that pesky P0543 code that pops when you perform an Air Intake Heater Delete or if you upgrade to an aftermarket Y-Pipe which also permanently removes the AIH.

Great video. I was planning on doing this mod and was really curious as to what guys were doing to cure the DTC!!! I’m also in Alaska in the mat su valley.

Yo man, first off love your channel. I’m a powerstroke guy and recently inherited my grandfather’s LB7. I’m absolutely in love with it, and your videos have helped me learn the truck. My LB7 is a ca emissions truck. I just bought a ton of parts to delete it and I’m curious if I forgot anything. Parts list: Fleece cupless heads, mahle wave stoppers, arp studs, mahle top end gasket kit, wc fab y bridge/cold air intake/turbo horn/charge pipes/down pipe, ppe exhaust manifolds and up pipe, federal belt, and tuner. My grandfather had just done glow plugs, injectors, and fass lift pump before he passed and they have less than 25k miles on them. I’m contemplating a stealth 64 g2 turbo as well 😅

Hey Shaun, sorry to hear about your grandpa man. I'd give anything to hangout with my grandpas again. It sounds like he had a good taste in truck! I'm happy to help as much as I can so thank you for watching my videos. I'd say the only thing you left out was a nice 4 or 5 inch exhaust and you'll be set! I'd start with a nice tune, then exhuast, then cold air intake. With those alone you'll notice a HUGE difference in the way your LB7 performs. Really everything after the tune is icing on the cake :) And with the lift pump and injectors already squared away it'll be just that much better.

@@KooshdaakaaGarage hey thanks for the response! Yeah man actually full 5” exhaust (down pipe back) was the first thing I did. The factory emission exhaust was really restrictive, but the new one made a world of difference.

interested in your opinion on the ppe tuner i have a hyper tech tuner and my ecm is stuck on tune 2 cause when i did the duramax tuner 5 to 6 speed conversion they gave me a vin specific upgraded tcm and its not reading it its saying different vin so i cant go back to stock o=with the hypertech no matter what i have to go back to stock before i retune the ecm its goin g to cost me a couple hundred here is what i want to know i have 30% injectors and hot cold same ones map trick on the turbo and the wastegate upgrade from banks lb7 obv.. and lift pump and driver manifold and more the truck throw down but i want to unlock the potential from your thought you think the ppe can make my day or what these on the fly tunes are not what they where since the 2020epa thing there tune 5 are what tune 2 was 4 yrs ago also i need to know does the ppe allow yoju yo adjust shift points and defuel on the lb7? thanks for your time i also wanted to know how much you get from youtube per 1000 view or are you making ne thing?

Excellent questions. I'd say if you are not going to use EFI Live then PPE Xcerlator is an excellent option. If you have a stock transmission like I do then be careful because you will toss it into limp mode, especially with the 30 over injectors you have. Tow tune 2 is an absolute BEAST and the only one I'll go in now. I still have to watch it between 4th and 5th gear since putting in the 45 over injectors because now it will go into limp mode. You can choose to turn on or off defuel between shift changes. You also get the option to turn on or off a number of other options such as advance timing, adding fuel, RPM limiter, speed limiter. A few other nice options are you can calibrate for your tire size and gear ratio and do things like a transmission re-learn. UA-cam $ per 1000 views is not very much and largely depends on what the going rate for ads are on google. Ads get a bit more spendy towards the holiday season which is great for youtubers then absolutely tanks in the new year. Also the amount you make depends on your audience demographics (age, gender, location, income, search history, etc). My audience is mostly dudes between 25-45, middle income bracket. I've seen it as low as $3 per 1000 views and as high as $12. It also depends on which videos are being watched by who. Lots of variables! I'm still pretty new to it and learning but this is what I've experienced so far.

What’s that bulb set up called LED would work without risk of busted glass or heat ?

You know I'm not sure if it will provide enough resistance or not? It would be worth an experiment.

@micahtech1 oh yeah, the LED is likely not creating enough resistance to satisfy the ecm. Definitely go with a standard bulb. This sort of works like when you put led blinker bulb into an older car, the blinker flashes super fast instead of the steady blink you are used too. This is due to the lack of resistance, and in the case of a blinker, a resistor would need to be installed to slow the blinking rhythm down again.
