Good video Gerry 👍 nice to see the 28 out doin a bit o fieldwork, back in the day when u harrowed an rolled behind the seeder we used Cambridge rollers a lot and Dad who had a real good eye for a line expected to be able to see the ridges made by the rollers dead straight from end to end 🙄😲😂 used to curse him at the time but then it became second nature to want it like that myself 😂😂
He hates the front 2 fields only 2 acres each, pain in the arse. Rest isn’t too bad. 8 acres each in other 2 and their nice square fields. Another 8 in the 3rd back field too that’s in spring crop.
Is all the barley for your own use Gerry? Would it be worth more to sell the winter drilled as so little drilled and buy in spring drilled to replace? Or not worry the bother? Take care
Robert Higgins it’s for our own use. Unless we were getting a lot better price and could end up with lot more spring barley it wouldn’t be worth the hassle
The flat roller will pan the seed bed, sometimes leaving it hard for seed to emerge, and also do moister to be absorbed. Ring roller leaves lots of indentations on the ground and stops the panning from happening. Flat roller is more suited to grassland
All depending in your sprayer size your working off. Operator of The drill sets it so it closes off the the seed so as not to waste it and to give the indication to the sprayer man where to drive.

Whats the difference between a ring roller and flat roller when rolling land?
