I remember seeing Spitfire as a kid back in the 50s on TV as one of The Million Dollar Movies broadcast out of NYC. I foudn a copy of it on VHS via Amazon several years ago, but it took some hunting around. I don't think a lot of people remember it.
$10,000 in 1934...wow! In Kate's words, she either played this role because she was "under contract and they had to pay me", or she knew some other actress wanted the role and she wanted to take it from her. Either way, in this case, it was a disaster.

As much as this was playing against type, I enjoyed this movie. The character Trigger Hicks demonstrates what faith can do!
