Sadly this confirms what many have known for some time: there’s very lttle reason to go to London comic shops (the few that are left) if you want a good choice of Bronze or Silver. Let alone high grade, let alone cents and unstamped copies. A few key shops have closed over the last 10 years left and there’s not much left. It seems the London Comic Mart is by far the best place to get a high number of purchase options. Obviously the x109 was a nice book, but that was the only interesting book. I’ve seen mega city’s wall books on other videos and am seriously unimpressed. I’m sure they try their best but its a bit of a pathetic choice if you compare it to wall books in many US comic book stores. Probably not their fault but more a reflection of the UK market. I know all uk comics stores are desperate to buy high quality bronze/silver collections but more collectors are holding onto them now, i know I am. Oh and Kill or be Killed is great Brubaker/Philips fare (they always hit a home run) modern crime story with a slight horror take.
Iv been told the comic mart is great but Iv never managed to get to one, defo on my list though. I find the same lack of choice/selection at most of the cons I go to, very little in terms of comics I’m afraid. I wonder if the likes of eBay has killed off the physical comic market? Perhaps stuffs just too easy to pick up theses days and the hunt is dead? Sounds like an idea for a vid 😂 thanks for watching!
😂 you should make London tour videos on the side Pete. I think I've caught the nostalgia bug lately too, just picked up the 90s Flash tv show comic 🤷♂️
Just started collecting and I can totally understand the " I bought it just because I liked it" or "it brings back nostalgia" ... thats exactly how I look at my collection. Love the Indiana #1 Is there a list or resource that details what comic the first appearance of each superhero is? It seems from most comic UA-cam videos I've seen the sought after comics are a) specific artists or covers b) a #1 issue or c) the first appearance of 'xxxxxxx'
Nostalgia pays a huge part in my collecting, both comics and toys. I tend to like first appearances and a helpful app for that is key collector, it’s worth a look! Welcome to collecting and the channel!
Haha soho is a sight to see, glad you did well in London mate. For bidden planet is great for trade paperback but shite for any silver or bronze comics. Their modern selection is graet however.
I love your style!! I'm not done watching yet, i just wanted to say Thor v Hulk covers rock!! I think you just started a new part of my Hulk collection that I'm going to start!! Thank you!
Not 1st Alpha Flight but 1st Guardian I think & actually, possibly the 1st US comic that I ever bought, it seems to be the oldest one in my collection that I remember buying from the newsagent as a kid. Worth £150 now is it? Not a bad investment for 10p. That Marvel Boy is confusing, think he's introduced as Wendell Vaughn in that Cap A you got, becomes Marvel Boy in Hulk 234, or maybe that's when he becomes Quasar, whatever haha
To help you to not feel to bad a CGC 6.0 X-Men #58 with postage went for just under £400 on the 4th June, yours looks better than a 6.0 Great vid, really do like your sense of humour!
There was ample opportunity for a big ben joke i have to admit pal 😄. I love seeing your books cos I know ill never get to own any 😄 The Captain America is my personal fave from the haul tho, definitely my sort of comic. Great job pal
