  • Hi, welcome to Olimpia Around the Globe.
This is my 8 part series video about hiking in beautiful Alps. These series will show you how we as a family have explored part of TMB, walked through 3 different countries (France, Italy, Switzerland).
This is day 8 of our TMB trip. Today's hike was around Grand col Ferret where Italy ends and Switzerland begins. We got bus from Courmayeur to Val Ferret and started our hike from there.

Hi! What app do you use to plan and track your hike (the 3d views in your video)?

Hi @nathalievandenbroucke , to plan my hikes I use AllTrails and for tracking and to have 3D I use the app Relive. 😊

    Hi,
Thanks for a great video, really enjoyed it.
I would greatly appreciate your help...
I suppose to land in Geneva on July 2 at 9:40 am
I wanted to know if you think I will be able to get to Les Contamines Montjoie (14km +/-) fromthe starting point on the same day, or is it better for me to wait the day in Les-Houches and start the trek the day after?

So glad to hear that! ☺️☺️ I think it is possible, depending on which variant are you doing. Is it thorough col de tricot? I know col de tricot is longer and you have more elevation on the way (but apparently beautiful views). From Geneva you can get transport directly to Les Houches next to Bellevue cable car which will take you to the top of the Bellevue and save you about 2-3 hours of walk up the hill. From Bellevue, We took the easier variant which mainly goes down the hill and definitely doable to get to Les Contamines in few hours, even if you start your hike in the afternoon as it is mainly down the hill. And also you can get the bus from Le Chapelle to Les Cotamines (last bus leave at 19:00 from what I remember). Once you pass La Tresse From the main road, take transportation to Les Contamines 15 minutes away (scenic routes are not worth the walk) (The bus does not stop at the Tresse stop, only a few buses a day), so head to the La Chapelle stop to catch the bus). But if you’re going through col du tricot it is longer and more tiring hike as mainly up the hill, usually takes about 5-7hours - but also depending on your hiking pace, so really hard tell. But if you have extra day to spare I would recommend staying in Chamonix and do some activities there on the day (cable car to aiguille du Midi - book your slot in advance, or train to glacier de mer, or even paragliding, there are a lot of activities to do). And next day you can head to Les Houches by bus to start your hike.
Hope this help, if you have more question I’m more than happy to help 😊😊
