Those are striking differences: the size of the head, stronger colors and rounded angles of the 1.0 version. The 2.0 is definitely a huge improvement in comparison.

Here's something this video gave me that I've never felt before: gunpla nostalgia. I remember this as one of the first MGs I built like 8 years ago. I built this and the original MG ZZ back-to-back while listening to Stephen King's Salem's Lot on audiobook. Good times, solid kit

Absolutely phenomenal 2.0 treatment! the Zeta's design never ceases to astonish me... I simply adore that head design, as it's so menacing and such a departure from the classic OG Gundam one's.

Mine is the Zeta 2.0 30th anniversary clear parts campaign.

I did transform it once and it looks very cool.

this is definitely still one of my favorite MGs of all time, even after building 60+ MGs. i constantly find myself longing for the satisfaction i felt the first time i ever built this kit and ive yet to experience a transformable kit that feels even nearly as satisfying to build. an absolutely amazing MODEL KIT and makes me yearn for older MGs that had beautiful detailing inside and out.

After owning MG Mk II 2.0 since 2019, this kit automatically sit on my number 1 wishlist. Maybe after done with most PO-ed kits this year, I will try to get this kit. Maybe Hyaku Shiki too, if I can.
The Ver Ka still didn't convinced me although it will be overall better kit than the 2.0, especially on the proportion, pricetag, and number of accessories. Maybe will buy it someday after getting my hands on the 2.0 first.

It still blows my mind how well this kit and other MGs from around the same time have aged. I remember building this kit years ago when I first started and aside from the hips and ankles it doesn't seem like there's much room for the articulation to be improved on the Ver. Ka.

The zeta 2.0 was my second master grade and I love it to bits. Although the transformation has some noticeable sketchy / weak points, I've transformed it many times and it never broke on me. My only annoyance with it is that the ankles and feet sometimes make it difficult to stand and the gun holds very loosely in waverider mode for some reason.

I think the structure is gonna be better, from what I saw in some review vid, but I think the head and chest of the 2.0 just look better. Plus if you are gonna display it in waverider form, 2.0 is certainly the one. Imo ver ka is better in its MS mode coz of its diminished backpack, but the tradeoff is ugly waverider mode

I think the ver ka does two things to address it not being able to stand well. The wings are a lot smaller and thinner, and the heel is a lot longer. I wonder if you could just paint and super glue a bit of red plasticard on the back of the heel just to give it some more surface area. I just love how this thing comes with an action base and the mega launcher.

Ugh… This WAS one of my favorite kits. It’s overall look, proportions and overall package was incredible even now. Posing was a pain, but it had so much value going for it.
The reason why this is a ‘Was’ for me is the transformation. It’s so finicky that if you don’t study up the procedure, forget or half-ass it; you’re likely going to damage it because it is VERY fragile. As a result, mine is away in a box somewhere with some torso hooks, V-fins shattered. Very easy to do.

I literally finished building this the night before this video was posted. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this kit is designed and constructed. The closest thing I have to a complaint would be the use of ABS instead of polystyrene plastic for the frame. In my opinion, after building this kit I am a little surprised they chose to put out a Ver. Ka because there isn’t a ton that needs updating or improving.

I don't know if i remember right, I think this and the MK2 2.0 was done by Katoki as well. The stance in the instruction manual and the mechanical drawing all were his style. The smaller head and the longer legs because there were kits like Nemo which his line-art influencing the design of the kit as well. If you look at the Metal Robot Ver. KA Zeta; that's what this looks like shrunk down. The new ver. KA looks like Katoki adding his own touch to Okawara's arts which is sort of weird to look at.

Maybe it’s me but I had a bad experience with the zeta 2.0 it was one of my more early kits I got and kinda rushed putting it together and even if I did the thing would not stand on it’s own at all it needed an action base to be able to do anything not to mention it didn’t hold its acceriores thst well I think the only thing that would stay on was the grenade ammo again maybe it was just the one I built but given how the ZZ ver ka was a massive upgrade to the old ZZ mg I’m looking forward to the zeta ver ka and see how it’ll improve on the 2.0

IMO This was the Katoki proportions. It was evident in the standing pose in the instruction as well. It just didn't have his signature gazillion decals, because if you compare this to the Metal Robot Ver. KA Zeta; that is exactly what this looks like but shrunk down. The new zeta Ver. KA is more like Katoki fixing Okawara's design by adding his own detail if that makes any sense to you.

A friend gifted this kit to me recently, and it was my first MG. While I can respect how advanced it was for its time, I did not find the build or transformation fun after having been spoiled on the RG Sazabi, RG Nu, and RG Tallgeese. The fact that the model can't even stand in a normal pose is a huge disappointment. I know this is easily fixed with sticky tack or just using the provided base (which is, admittedly, a huge value add) but I remain unimpressed by what many consider to be 1 of the best kits every made.
While painting, the ABS easily snapped multiple times to the point of me wanting to just trash the whole thing. So, if you have this kit and plan to paint, expect a great deal of masking work.

The 2.0 is definitely more anime accurate, possibly the best compromise of all 3 models for anime vs redesign. The coming Ver Ka is incredibly retro and will definitely appeal to those who grew up watching Z-Gundam. The engineering will probably be peerless, but for the retro reasons, it's a hard skip for me. (save the retro for MSG, not Z). I still think that the 1.0 is the best looking of all three designs. I've said it before; it has problems, but it is largely based on the Katoki design which is shown in the original concept art in the 1.0's manual as well as the original HG (non HGUC) Z-Gundam's colour illustration. Sleek, speedy, modern - what a transforming, flying Gundam should be; not a flying box with hard angles and wings. But I'm just a big Ver Ka fan.

And it really seems like every issue the Zeta has is due to the transformation gimmick. Really, REALLY hate transformation gimmicks, they always do more harm than good and have sunk the quality of so many Master Grades while adding nothing other than inflating the MSRP.

It seemed to be incapable of bending its elbow when holding the the normal beam rifle. The hip structure was apparently similar to the 2.0 and the wave rider mode looked ass. Probably because of the proportions being weird like the back wings being to small even in mobile suit mode.
