I'm definitely ready to finally give Cyberpunk a fair shake. I put in about 15 hours over the past couple of years, usually a few hours after each patch to see how it is doing. Back in June of this year it finally felt like a game I could really enjoy playing, but then I realized Phantom Liberty and Patch 2.0 were due out in a few months and decided I'd hold off until the game is truly completed. Thinking I will update to 2.0, restart my main story with female V as her voice actor is a lot better everyone says, replay up to the point I am at currently at least, and then if I am truly feeling great about the game (which I do think I will) I will buy Phantom Liberty. The only issue is that I am enjoying Starfield so much, I don't really want to put Starfield down or on hold... So I am sure I will DL 2.0 tomorrow and start a new game, but it may still be another month or two before I fully jump in again. Soooo many great games coming up to play. Spiderman 2, Alan Wake 2, STALKER 2, Avatar is looking good, Phantom Liberty / Cyberpunk, AC: Mirage is looking pretty good too. May be missing one or two that I am looking forward to as well that release in the next 6 months or so.
I'm in a similar boat. I've been slowly playing Starfield, and enjoying it more bit by bit, each time I play, but then Lies Of P came out yesterday, and I've been looking forward to that game for so long, so I immediately jumped into that and I'm loving it. Still wanna remember to keep putting time into Starfield, though, as well as checking out CP2077 for the 2.0 patch, and a few other games you mentioned, like Avatar, Assassin's Creed, and Stalker 2. Lots of stuff to look forward to, just gotta figure out where to put the time into which game.
Previews of stalker 2 are extremely negative so far. Like its miles from being complete. I would temper my expectations. Btw, 2077 is amazing. I find it better than starfield in the most important ways. But both are awesome in their own way. I love such rich-men's-troubles of having too many new games at once :D Not a dull moment.
so gald the patch came out a few days before the DLC, it gave me a great opportunity to try out some of the changes before deciding if i wanted to buy another cdpr product and after 15 hours in a new save i bought in. the performance and system changes that have been implemented since i originally played are great, i just wish there was a ng+ so i could max out my skills since there are so many cool ones now!
It's not the game I wanted from the start, but I think some choice mods to introduce a little more substance will make Cyberpunk feel like somewhat of a masterpiece. I'm looking forward to 2.0! And I'm def going to try out some survival mods, and whatever else makes the world feel more alive!
Me too but because I barreled through it like a COD. It reeeaaally was a lifeless city. If they added much needed city substance (not just mindless combat changes and "insert famous actor" mocap) like fixing the NCART, more random encounters (more than 1 or 2), game world interactivity/reactivity, and some gd flying cars, etc then I might buy it.
If anyone is playing for the first time or starting a new game ... The best point to start Phantom liberty is after the Voodoo boys story missions. Its the one thing i was wondering about myself as i wanted to start a new playtrough after not playing the game for atleast a year and a half
I started to play it, I bought it on sale for pennies compared to the full price. Heard this was coming and stopped dead in my tracks. Was still in Act 1. I'm just going to start from the beginning and go all in on it.
I just recently beat the game . After not playing it since launch . The game is crazy good on how it is now . 2.0 update just to make it that much better !
I'm curious if there's been any improvements to how npc and vehicle LODs are done. Are the floating 2D paper cut outs still a thing? You can see it in the first 3 minutes of the game if you start as corpo, just look out the window and wonder if this is a joke.
I finished Cyberpunk 2077 recently on the PS5 and I found the experience to be enjoyable for the most. It was a good game, but not necessarily a great one. I spent 40 hours playing the game and I got to level 25. Even with the update, I still came across some bugs and glitches. At the end of the day, it was still a fun game and it definitely had some wonderful moments. I'll probably check out the Phantom Liberty DLC and I'll go back the main game as well. Plus, there are a lot of side missions that I still haven't completed yet. Thanks, Karak! As always, I appreciate the honest, unbiased, and detailed review! God bless and stay safe!
I usually don't like futuristic setting games, but I really wanna try this game atleast for the graphic and atmosphere. BUT 1st person perspective really hold me back. I like 3rd person view games more and most of my games is 3rd person perspective.
I was expecting you to mention what's up with the driving, if its better, beauty enhancements like mods do (different arms and legs texture by implant) if anything looks closer to the dreaded 48 minutes video ages ago before the release. But I guess this was never realistic.
LOL... loved that line "Some of the missions action pact and some where the action forgot to be pact" Your messages are very quote worthy in every steam you produce.
I think you are right that the expansion probably doesn’t change the core lack of immersion. I am concerned that we are all back on the unrealistic hype train again; I’m seeing many people claim that this update will “give us the game that was promised”. No, it won’t. Not by a long shot. It’s still Cyberpunk 2077, but as you say, some of the most obvious mechanical stuff has been fixed and we have a DLC with a bit more story going on. But it isn’t suddenly an immersive sim or an in-depth RPG.
I played 194 hours of the original game. It was mission-critical if it opened up the map more. I haven't played the story because I was waiting for this overhaul/refinement. CDPR has a record of always giving out a definitive edition/update for their games. Often launched in a playable state, good to some, but often about a year later or so, release the "Definitive" edition. Which often release new mechanics, improvements, or additional content and fixes for the base games. Finally, Night City gets its long-awaited "Definitive" release :)
@@spacedout4061Given what happened last time isn't the "paranoia" warranted? Liars can be telling you the truth but because they're liars they aren't going to be believed.
@@CrazyxEnigma ok but are you gonna even acknowledge all the things they have done to make things up since then? Including update 2.0 which has literally no bad reviews judging from the 4 or 5 reviews ive seen so far
Keanu is one of my favorite actors and now Idris, another one of my favorites, I watch him anytime his name pops up in a movie. I will try the update first, it sounds like a lot of fun (truly unfortunate that the cops don't go into Dogtown, that is kinda the whole point; cops in the worst parts) but I for one could never get into the game. I have a good rig, AMD Ryzen 7, RTX 3060 on a 1080p. Will be up grading to a 8k next month but something just is off with the game to me. Maybe the update will help.
Sounds like the community was overhyping what the patch and DLC actually does. How is melee combat now? From what I remember it really lacked feedback, felt weightless and was inferior to guns has any of that been changed compared to at launch?
It got way better. They added dash which helps with movement and there is deflect bullets which is cool so there is more to do that just run up and slice. also like someone pointed out, if you have a game you can check it yourself lol.
Does it let you reallocate attribute points as well when you reload an old character or just perk points? With the massive rework of the skill trees I really hope I get the opportunity to change attribute investments just the once at the beginning instead of having to remake completed character builds from scratch.
I just can't wait to see the next Cyberpunk game they announced. They finally know how to make meaningful new gigs with strong, heart shredding decision branching, can't wait to see their new skills in action without being impeeded by older designs. I think comparing the original Gigs with the new ones is basically a study on why "show don't tell" works so much better to create an emotional response. There were plenty of good ideas in the diverse story logs in the original Gigs but they were all in text version in computers and shards instead of played live.
Bought 2077 for $5 (fiasco prices). Played it. Fkcn loved it. Insta buy Liberty dlc. Technicall/Bug aside on launch, Cyberpunk 2077 is a really well crafted story/gameplay/mechanic game. One of a kind. -Choom
I played cyberpunk at launch, on a day one xbox one, and i loved it then lol, i played it to completion and even wanted a new game plus. I havent played it at all since then, i'm about to though, for the first time since launch, and this time on my new gen console too, about to start a new playthrough and do everything (again) including phantom liberty and I cant wait. Great video as always! Thank you!
Really enjoyed or rather, was heartbroken by Phantom Liberties story. It doesnt happen often that a story hits my emotions that hard, but the ending definitely did ... depending on the choises you make. Definitely worth playin Phantom liberty just for that and version 2.0 ony adds to me recommending everyone to play cyberpunk. To me they more then made up the messy launch.
I dropped the game near launch due to bugs and poor performance, tried again a few months later and they nurfed my build into the ground (stealth hacking, when they made the damaging hacks tell everyone were you were) so I dropped it again. Hesitantly excited for 2.0 and will be giving it one last chance, hope its the game we all expected way back when.
You should have also done a fourth score for people who have not played cyberpunk 2077 at all, I would assume that would be pretty high, no? To experience the proper version of this game?
I think it's important game developers understand that players will give a game another chance IF they fix some of the glaring problems that were present at launch. "Build it and they will come" is just as true of videogames as it is of anything else.
Despite it's many flaws I really enjoyed the game at launch. It only got better as they patched it, even to the point I'd call it "good", you know? The lack of world immersion was a big sore spot, but as an ARPG I think it's a pretty fun game. I'll be waiting some mods (QoL, UI/HUD and some cosmetic ones mainly) to be hopefully updated before I get into this, then I'll be doing a full fresh playthrough. I'm kind of interested in comparing it now to what I remember of my initial Dec 2020 time.
Does it still feel dead? My biggest issue with the game was that despite the city being basically perfect, it felt dead and the npcs felt like mannequins
@@DevNug I never understand this type of complaint in a game because most of game NPC’s are lifeless. The only open world games I can think of with interesting NPC’s are rockstar games
@@flouserschird I agree, which is why most open world games that try to include large amounts of NPCs have a similar issue. I agree rockstar is an exception
@@flouserschirdSaints Row 2 did it way better in 2008. If a game of the scale of CP2077 can't hit that benchmark over a decade later there's a problem. Rockstar definitely sets the gold standard for what other games should be aspiring for, though, even if they don't manage to get there. I think the problem with CP2077 at launch is that it was like they didn't even try. Crowds had zero reactivity and were basically lifeless. It was very distracting.
@@DevNug They did improve it in the patches along the way. Crows scatter, some (foolish) citizen might even draw on you, drivers panic...it's still not exactly "alive", but they did make it feel a lot less lifeless. It's certainly less like just a very pretty stage set the game takes place on, let me say that. I'm hoping the improved police system will help, as well as the random car chases.

Soooo game looks great, the dlc is awesome and dogtown is a big chunk of area added onto the map. Its not like a small couple blocks like he makes is seem like. Its a substantial area added onto the already big map. Update 2.0 has greatly updated the game and has added to an already amazing game. Okay. Gotcha.
I have a 7900xtx and am excited to see how the game runs at full ray tracing with FSR 3.0 enabled. Either way, I'm currently getting 70+ FPS with full ray tracing at 1440p on my 7900xtx, and that's good enough for single-player games, so I know I'll enjoy playing this game regardless.
Dropped around 200h in original and plan to do a new char and again that much with DLC and 2.0. It did have some problems on release (not for me, I had a fast NVMe and then new 3070) but the atmosphere did it for me (not most of the music for which I used mods) and it felt like a mix of DeusEx and Blade Runner.
I like that you covered the two paths on if this might be worth trying if you didn’t love the original release. I’m in the latter camp. I was disappointed with the world sim and my lack of being able to play my own character through it. Doesn’t sound like (nor did I expect) this to resolve that. Same reason why Fallout 4 didn’t capture me. The story forced you on a path that was too narrow to flex in.
im in the same boat. i expected fnv and got far cry 3. both good in their own regard, but i bought into the roleplaying aspect and not so much the shooter when original trailers came out.

Previews of stalker 2 are extremely negative so far. Like its miles from being complete.
I would temper my expectations.
Btw, 2077 is amazing. I find it better than starfield in the most important ways. But both are awesome in their own way.
I love such rich-men's-troubles of having too many new games at once :D
Not a dull moment.

@@VampiricNightMachine it's a comment section, it's literally for commenting
Yep
so gald the patch came out a few days before the DLC, it gave me a great opportunity to try out some of the changes before deciding if i wanted to buy another cdpr product and after 15 hours in a new save i bought in. the performance and system changes that have been implemented since i originally played are great, i just wish there was a ng+ so i could max out my skills since there are so many cool ones now!
This seem like really good changes and I hope that this momentum carry’s over to the sequel
It won't.
@@justin9744 Will you ever stop whining?
@@justin9744Okay. Anyways...
It's not the game I wanted from the start, but I think some choice mods to introduce a little more substance will make Cyberpunk feel like somewhat of a masterpiece. I'm looking forward to 2.0! And I'm def going to try out some survival mods, and whatever else makes the world feel more alive!
"Somewhat of a masterpiece." Lol
What, did you want more of a rpg?

I loved this game the first time around, and it sounds like I will love it now too!
I adore it as well
Yeah, it instantly became one of my all time favorites.

I love this game so much and I’m so excited to dive back in.
If anyone is playing for the first time or starting a new game ... The best point to start Phantom liberty is after the Voodoo boys story missions. Its the one thing i was wondering about myself as i wanted to start a new playtrough after not playing the game for atleast a year and a half
Happy you got your Millie man. You deserve it.
I started to play it, I bought it on sale for pennies compared to the full price. Heard this was coming and stopped dead in my tracks. Was still in Act 1. I'm just going to start from the beginning and go all in on it.
Great review! I’m giving myself the day off to start a new character with the patch tomorrow, and I’m excited to play the DLC too.
Really? Trough that 14mins of review is that what you care about? Proxies?
@@theoneshot236 wtf is a "Proxies"? yes, 2D paper cut outs ruin immersion.
Thanks for the update ACG! Looking forward to giving this a good go!
Wow! The characters are starting to look real, to the point that it takes a second to be sure it's rendered in real time.

Excited to finally play the version of the game I thought I bought 3 years ago....
I grabbed the game for $19.99 back when the game was largely panned. Still haven't started. Sounds like soon.
I enjoyed this originally, dlc looks good, I’m just not spending 30 on it. I will be reinstalling to see what’s new though 👍🏼
I was expecting you to mention what's up with the driving, if its better, beauty enhancements like mods do (different arms and legs texture by implant) if anything looks closer to the dreaded 48 minutes video ages ago before the release. But I guess this was never realistic.
Love your final points, very insightful
My boy, you're #24 on trending!!!
LOL... loved that line "Some of the missions action pact and some where the action forgot to be pact" Your messages are very quote worthy in every steam you produce.
3 years later, the game is almost what they promised. Unfortunate this will be the only dlc
Is that what they said this will be the only DLC?
I played 194 hours of the original game. It was mission-critical if it opened up the map more. I haven't played the story because I was waiting for this overhaul/refinement. CDPR has a record of always giving out a definitive edition/update for their games. Often launched in a playable state, good to some, but often about a year later or so, release the "Definitive" edition. Which often release new mechanics, improvements, or additional content and fixes for the base games.
Finally, Night City gets its long-awaited "Definitive" release :)
"CDPR requested that only B footage and trailers be used." Here we go again lol
All their trailers are gameplay lol. You are being paranoid
@@spacedout4061Given what happened last time isn't the "paranoia" warranted? Liars can be telling you the truth but because they're liars they aren't going to be believed.
@@CrazyxEnigma given what has happened since it is not in fact warranted. They have done stuff since launch lol
@@spacedout4061 We agree to disagree then.
You could watch some streams after that patch + DLC would launch and see for yourself ;-)
From what I read, if you load an old character it will make you completely respec anyway so you should be good 👍
I adore cyberpunk 2077, can't wait to play this next Tuesday
Played this last year when it was off on steam. Thought i would regret it, didnt. This seems like its just icing on top of a nice surprise
So glad I gave up after a few hours after launch!
Getting to play through the entire game now will be a treat 😊

Thank you!
The endings of the original game upset me a bit at the time but I get it.
Fantastic game even on release, miraculously I didn’t have any major bugs
Nothing miraculous 200k of 275k reviews on Steam were positive even in the first couple weeks
Did you play all 7 endings?
Can you seamlessly travel from dog town back to night city as if it was a integrated part of the original game or is it separated by loading screens
This was a solid expansion and i ended up putting a lot of hours into both rerunning the main game and doing the expansion. The 2.0 update was huge.
That's the coolest bike in the game imo
We need NG+. Very excited for the expansion but I’d love to replay the game with the expansion streamlined in with my current V
I think Idris is an awesome actor, can’t wait to check this dlc out.
I always thought it was crazy that your subacriber count was so low. Its literally IGN, Skill Up, ACG, and Gameranx: Before you Buy. Those are the top channels for reviews, but your subscriber count was under a million, which made no sense. So congrats man!
Probably because he doesn't take any sponsorship
Soooo game looks great, the dlc is awesome and dogtown is a big chunk of area added onto the map. Its not like a small couple blocks like he makes is seem like. Its a substantial area added onto the already big map. Update 2.0 has greatly updated the game and has added to an already amazing game. Okay. Gotcha.
Bro its amazing. Cant believe we are alive in a time where we are lucky enough to play this. We basically won the lottery of life.

I am so stoked for going back to Cyberpunk…..one of the few games that had me dreaming about the screwed up world it is.
I have a 7900xtx and am excited to see how the game runs at full ray tracing with FSR 3.0 enabled. Either way, I'm currently getting 70+ FPS with full ray tracing at 1440p on my 7900xtx, and that's good enough for single-player games, so I know I'll enjoy playing this game regardless.
smart to make the cops not go there because those cops ai were scuffed
Cops were FULLY remade in 2.0 ;-)
I'm surprised you haven't reviewed armored core 6 yet
Dropped around 200h in original and plan to do a new char and again that much with DLC and 2.0. It did have some problems on release (not for me, I had a fast NVMe and then new 3070) but the atmosphere did it for me (not most of the music for which I used mods) and it felt like a mix of DeusEx and Blade Runner.
The only review channel that exist where i let out an excited noise to see it post something new.
What about MandaloraGaming? MortismalGaming?
I like that you covered the two paths on if this might be worth trying if you didn’t love the original release.
I’m in the latter camp. I was disappointed with the world sim and my lack of being able to play my own character through it. Doesn’t sound like (nor did I expect) this to resolve that.
Same reason why Fallout 4 didn’t capture me. The story forced you on a path that was too narrow to flex in.
im in the same boat. i expected fnv and got far cry 3.
both good in their own regard, but i bought into the roleplaying aspect and not so much the shooter when original trailers came out.

Loved the story in my original play-through. I do wish that this expanded upon the ending(s), I'm not a huge fan of expansions set in the middle of games. I prefer expanding the story and moving forward. so many questions about V, I guess they just don't want to decide on one ending. I'll check it out though, looks really good. I'm amazed at how good Cyberpunk looks and runs on the Series X and other consoles, amazing work by CDPR. Then I look at Starfield's facial animations and cringe.
